Serena

"He is so infuriating!" Mel shouted in frustration, slamming her locker in the process of venting.

Sara, Julie, and I stood by the lockers, and just listened to Mel as she ranted about Andre, seemingly so annoyed by him. It was just so weird, because she never reacted like this over anyone.

Either way, it was amusing to watch and I think someone caught feelings.

"Andre's not so bad," I then told her, trying to defend the boy, who hadn't actually done much to be honest - other than be a little flirty.

"He's the worst," she huffed.

Her reactions are just hilarious. This isn't the usual, calm and composed, Mel that we're so used to.

"You sure you don't just like him?" Sara asked with a raised brow, pretty much saying what we were all thinking.

"Sara," Mel snapped, glaring at her and then moving eyes towards me, when I started to nod along with Sara's words.

Honestly, my Mum would glare at me all the time, so someone else doing it, didn't really effect me. I was immune to glares, unless it was Mum's. She could be really scary when she wanted to.

I just gave her a little shrug in response. "I've never seen you react to a guy like that."

Mel's icy glare seemed to have faltered at my words, and she raised her brows slightly, maybe a little flustered.

"I..." she began to say, only to seem lost for words.

"And don't think we all didn't see you blush when he called you sweetheart," Sara added in.

Mel looked horrified by that. "I didn't," she flat out denied.

However, even as she said those words, I could see another blush working its way onto Mel's cheeks.

"It's true," I told her.

Mel shook her head, rapidly. "You guys don't know what you're talking about. I'm leaving," she brushed us off and walked away.

"There's that blush again!" Sara shouted.

We laughed as she said the words, especially when Mel didn't even turn back. She's probably gone tomato-red by now.

"Shut up, Sara!" Mel yelled back, whilst walking further away.

We couldn't help but laugh more at this, we even Julie letting out some giggles.

Sara then looked at me with a cheeky smile on her face. "She definitely likes him," she said and I nodded in agreement.

As we continued to stand by our lockers, talking amongst ourselves, I then heard someone call out our names.

When I turned around, I saw Liam and Andre standing in front of us with smiles on their faces.

"Hey, Liam. Hey, Andre." I greeted both of them.

When I looked at Liam, I knew my face looked confused as ever, since this wasn't part of a plan. We - and I mean me - didn't plan a meet up right now or plan anything for the next move. What was he playing at?

"Hey, pretty ladies," Andre grinned at us.

I saw Sara roll her eyes. "Sorry, you just missed Mel," she then told him.

Andre's grin faltered a little. "Oh," he then said.

I noticed the slight tone of disappointment in his voice. I guess Mel wasn't the only one who may have caught feelings.

He then cleared his throat. "I mean.." he began to say, only for Liam to place a hand on his shoulder, stopping him from saying anything further.

Or before he put his foot in his mouth.

"We actually had something to say to you and your friends," Liam said, looking rather nervous.

I've found that nothing really good comes out of his mouth, when he looks this nervous.

I mean, I should know. The last he looked so nervous, he confessed feelings for another girl in front of me.

"And that is..." Sara stood a little straighter, hand on one hip, looking impatient.

I turned my head towards her, raising my brow a little bit, only for her to shrug at me in response.

She really has to learn to play nice.

"What? Can't he just come to point, he's longing it out," she said, giving me an innocent smile.

Liam then cleared his throat. "We wanted to invite you guys to a party. Not just you guys, all of your lot.".

"Party?" I questioned him, feeling really confused at this sudden event.

This wasn't a part of the plan. I can't believe he's going off book and didn't even bother inform me. What was even the point of coming to me in the first place?

Not that I'm dying to help him with this. But still. It's nice to be kept in the loop.

"Yeah, it's actually a surprise birthday party for Holden," Liam then told us.

Well, this was new information. "It's Holden's birthday?" I asked.

We were just at lunch altogether and he never mentioned anything about it. How did it suddenly become his birthday?

"His birthday is on Saturday," Andre then said.

"He's not much of a birthday guy, but we're throwing a party anyway," Liam told us.

"And he won't mind?" I questioned him.

I've known of Holden for some time now, but I don't think I actually know him. Would he even want us at his birthday party? We're still practically strangers.

"Nope. He knows it's more for us, so he just goes along with it," Andre said.

Well, I guess that makes sense. Holden probably wouldn't mind us being there, if he didn't even want this party in the first place. Why would you be so bothered about something you didn't really care about?

I can't relate. I love my birthday.

"Um..." I then looked towards Sara and Julie.

"Please, Rena. Come to the party," Liam pleaded.

I looked at him and frowned. I guess it wouldn't hurt to go to a party. Holden is really nice and it would be great to wish him on his birthday. I could also use a little bit of a distraction.

If my parents knew that Liam was going, they wouldn't mind that I went. But then, that's me.

"I bring all my friends?" I asked Liam.

"Of course," Liam grinned.

I could tell with that grin, he knew that I wasn't going to refuse.

"Sara?" I turned towards her.

I just had to turn away from Liam right now and not look into his eyes. He was a bit like my kryptonite. Weakening my current stated of mind.

Sara turned to me, with a brow raised. "You really have to ask?"

I smiled at her words. Of course my chica would not miss an opportunity to head off to a party.

"Well, okay then," I said to Liam. I guess I'm going to a party.

"I'll message you all the details and you can forward it to your friends," Liam told me.

"You're invited too, Julie." Liam looked towards her, a shy smile on his face.

She looked unsure. "Oh, I don't know."

"Please?" He asked. His desperation for her to be there, it caused a little tug in my chest again, something that I tried to ignore yet again.

I wasn't completely out of it. I knew that Liam's main motivation to invite us all to this party for Holden - party that he doesn't even want - was to spend some more time time with Julie, outside of a school setting.

She was too shy to ever be with him outside of school, so a party for a friend was a safe bet. Even if he didn't say it, I could tell that's all this was about.

"But I'm new and don't know you all so well," Julie said so quietly.

"Well, you know Rena and her friends already, and you know me and my boys too," Liam tried to convince her.

Andre then looked towards her. "Come on, Julie. I'm going to be the DJ. These boys have shitty taste in music," he said, earning a smack from Liam.

His friends must obviously know about his crush on her, which might be why Andre is trying to convince her too, unless he's just be nice.

I guess it's just my friends that don't know about my feelings.

"Well, Julie?" Liam asked her.

That selfish part of me wanted her to decline. For her to not come, so I then didn't have to go through the pain of seeing how he looked at her, like there's only her.

But I then can't be selfish. This needs to happen, no matter how much it hurts, because he won't ever look at me like that and I know it.

"Okay," she finally agreed.

Liam had a wide smile on his face, after hearing her agree. "Great. This party will be great."

"Ooo, a party."

Oh no, that annoying voice.

"Don't worry, boys. I'll be there," Amy then said, with a wink.

I just find it amazing how this girl could irritate me, without even trying. It was like a talent of hers.

The boys didn't even turn to look at her. "We won't be worrying, since we don't want you there, Amy." Andre said, with a slightly irritated face.

I guess I am not the only one that had a negative reaction when Amy appears. It's kind of nice to know.

"You're really going to have a party without me, Liam?" Amy said, completely ignoring Andre's presence and trying to get closer to Liam.

Now, I know he isn't mine, but I still don't like her being affectionate near him.

I have no claim over him but it's so frustrating when she gets near him. I wonder how Julie will handle it...if Liam and her do become a couple. She's going to need to develop some thick skin.

"Why? Is it a crime?" Sara snorted.

Ever since Amy had tried to put the moves on Danny and get closer to him, Sara has hated the sight of her.

"Shut it," Amy glared.

"Make me, perra," Sara grinned. (Bitch.)

Sara would start talking in Spanish whenever she was either angry or very excited. Basically when her emotions were heightened.

"What's a Per-ra?" Quinn asked, trying to sound out the foreign word.

"It's you. Interpret it, assuming what I think of you," Sara told her sweetly, which then made me laugh.

"You little piece of-" Amy began to say.

"Enough," Liam yelled at her. "This party is for Holden and for friends. That does not include you and your minions."

The look on Amy's face was priceless right now.

Clearly her over-sized ego was slightly bruised at Liam's words, but it still could be taken down a peg or two more.

"You know Holden's my cousin and I'll be there," Amy said smugly.

Yes, Holden and Amy are cousins. Surprising, I know.

I found out in out first year of High School, when I heard them arguing. Amy stormed off when she saw me standing there, not before giving me quick shove. She's charming like that.

Holden then apologised on behalf of her and told me then that they were cousins. To say I was shocked, was a complete understatement. He's always so sweet and she's...well, she's the opposite, to put it nicely.

"Really, Amy? You can't score an invite so you use the 'family card' to get in?" I asked her.

"Invited to one party, Rena, and think you're all that," she scoffed.

No, it's not my first party. It's probably the first time going to a party with Liam and the boys, with them actually inviting us, but you can't exactly be friends with Sara and not get dragged to a few parties.

"Keyword is invited, honey," I smiled at her, whilst Sara laughed.

"You-" Amy began, but honestly, it's been a long day and I'm not in the mood to argue.

I let out a sigh. "Well, I'm bored of this. Don't worry, we'll be there," I told Liam and Andre, and began to walk off with Julie.

"Bye, perra," Sara smirked and waved at her.

I then tugged at her arm and pulled her along with me, shaking my head at her.

"What? I wanted the last word," she then said innocently, which caused me to smile.

Whilst walking off I couldn't help but think of the party.

I've been to parties before, where I've seen Liam there too, but this, it's different. I've seen him flirt with other girls, and sure it's not been the easiest to watch, but I know he's never been serious about them.

However, going to this party with the girl he likes, knowing that he intends to make her something more than just a girl he flirts with, I don't know how I will handle that.

I'm going to have to be strong and endure this.

This is only the beginning as well.

It really was only the beginning, I still had more hurt awaiting...
