Irony is a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result. Irony is when you see a dime on the ground, don’t see much use in picking it up so you ignore it  and later in the day you are a dime short. Irony is when  you name your Great Dane tiny, and I am normally a huge fan of Irony. But when Irony is when you are invited to the love of your life’s wedding in your old hometown, in the church across from the one you two were suppose to get married in but it has a fire, so they change the wedding to the church across the street, then I am not a fan. If the day couldn’t get anymore painful for my dad then it just did. After flying from Ireland back to England, being forced to sit on a plane full of the wedding party, and getting stuck sitting next to Kenneth I didn’t know how much more my dad would be able to handle.  After my mom denied him yet again, he really fell apart. He had little to no confidence that they would ever get back together. With a little convincing from Robby and I we got him to agree to come to the wedding and we just had to wait to convince him to object  during the ceremony. If him and my mom weren’t going to live happily ever after together than we should be able to say we gave it our best shot. It took a bit of convincing from my mom to allow Harry at the wedding, probably knowing that we had some sort of plan stirred up, but with a bit of begging and puppy dog eyes we eventually got her to say yes, with one condition that he sat in the very back of the church and was not allowed to interrupt the ceremony. I promise, but I also had my fingers crossed behind my back.

The flight wasn’t very long, and for me it was comfortable. Firstly because I was all cozied up leaning against Noah’s shoulder, and secondly I found some comfort knowing that I had found my dad and was working on getting him and my mom together. So when we got off the plane and walked out into the rainy atmosphere, I became a little more uncomfortable and by the looks of it so did everyone else. I couldn’t tell though if it was because the poor weather, the rushed wedding or the memories that they had all once shared together which seemed all too complicated for anyone to understand. Although the wedding was rushed we arrived in Holmes Chapel the night before and it seemed like the night was going slower than possible. but it was probably too excitement of the big day getting to my nerves, and when I say big day I mean my father proclaiming his love for my mom in front of all her friends and family. I could care less about my mom and Kenneth’s big day.

We all decided to take it easy that night and just stay at the hotel. Noah and I decided to go down to the pool. I didn’t feel like swimming so I just dangled my feet in the shallow end while Noah stood in the water by my legs.

“I love you” Noah sighed as he leaned against me slightly. I smiled back at him but accidentally waited long enough so there was an awkward pause.

“I love you too” I said back and did truly mean it. My mind was  distracted. On top of my mothers wedding there was also an elephant in the room, an elephant I needed to address.

“What’s wrong Darc?”Noah asked as he pulled himself out of the pull and sat on the edge of it with me.

“What happens after the wedding?” I looked at him with big worried eyes.

“Well since I’m betting there is no reception, they’ll need to find someone to eat that cake…” Noah started off in a joking manner before I interrupted him.

“I didn’t mean it like that” I looked down at my legs and moved the water around slowly. “I mean what happens after the wedding, what if my mom marries Kenneth, or what if my mom decided to get back with my dad? What will happen with us?” I knew the odds of a long distance relationship aren’t very good and I also knew the odds of me living in Ireland aren’t very good either.

“If you’re mom and dad end up together maybe you can convince them to move to Ireland, or even England, that way it’s a shorter plane ride and you’ll be close to Harry’s mom.” he suggested

“What about my friends and family back home?” I asked again.

“They can come here too, there’s room for all of them” Noah laughed. He was never one to take things too seriously. I knew I could make new friends, but my grandpa was still back home and in the hospital. I don’t think they’d let him go on a long plane ride. “We’ll see what happens. I can always come live where you do, or we can visit over the summers. Don’t worry until there is something to worry about” He smiled sweetly and kissed my forehead.

“Darcy” My mom called me. “You should probably get to bed so you’re well rested for the wedding. I wouldn’t want my maid of honor to sleep in too late” she hollered from the entrance of the pool I quickly kissed Noah on the cheek and headed up to hotel room. I didn’t want to be tired for the wedding but I also didn’t want to be the maid of honor.

I loved getting my makeup done and I didn’t even mind the, weird shade of blue, coloured dress that I got to where. The day itself was exciting. Watching as everyone in the wedding party rushed to get ready and as guests arrived looking their best. It was almost magical, if it was the right people getting married. I quickly zipped up the dress and went over to watch my mom’s makeup get finished. She did look beautiful. The light coloured shades looked amazing with her fair skin and dark hair, not to mention the wedding dress itself. It wasn’t extravagant as the wedding was overly rushed but she looked beautiful in the flowy cream coloured dress. My jaw almost dropped as stood up, allowing me to see the full effect. There was only a couple minutes left till the ceremony and as much as I would have liked to been happy for my mom but my stomach was filling with butterflies while worrying for my dad. I saw him walk in the church in his suit, and he definitely looked nervous. I just hoped he’d follow through.

I waited at the doors, slowly peaking through them at the crowd, then at the priest and then to my father was was pushing his long locks back before slowly pressing down on the piano keys. The ceremony was officially starting. Robby wrapped his arm around mine and we started to walk down the aisle, followed by the rest of the wedding party. We walked to the end and then went our separate ways, thankfully i was on the side closest to the Piano. I stood there and waited and watched as my mother made her way down the aisle. She looked happy but not as happy as I knew she could be. As soon she got to the front of the church the priest began to speak.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this company, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony” I began to lose interest the second that he acknowledged Kenneth’s existence. All I could focus on was my dad and eager to hear the priest ask for any objections.  I tried to keep still the best I could, but it took everything for me not to rock my knees back and forth. I was getting more nervous and anxious as the ceremony continued further along.  I knew how nervous I was so I could only imagine how nervous my dad was and I know he was hang second guesses. I prayed to God that my dad would make the right choice. Would my dad decided to object or would he forever hold his peace?

The minister  stopped  speaking as a noise interrupted him, it was a ringing cellphone.  It seemed like God has his own plans. We all looked around trying to figure out who it was, and finally my moms eyes were on the culprit. It was my dad. He reached in his pocket slowly and instead of ignoring the call he took it. Something I even found rather rude, but if it slowed down the wedding it could. Everyone in the church had their eyes on my dad now and was listening to his conversation.

"Yes this is" He nodded. "No I'm glad you got a hold of me, yea, ok, I will" He kept going until he hung up the phone slowly and looked towards my mom. If she already wasn't going to burst out crying from embarrassment the next words to come out of his mouth definitely weren't going to help. "Sarah" He stood up from the Piano. "It's your father, he's dead"

A/N: I'm sorry for not updating Piano Man regularly anymore, I have been trying to write some stories that aren't fanfiction as well. It is harder to get readers for it though it seems and well I do really love writing fanfiction I would also like my other works to be appreciated as well. So as a solution to this I though why don't I update both at the same time. So when both this chapter of Piano Man and the first chapter of 'Faking Bad' on my account softlysingtome, each get 20 votes, and 8 comments, then I will update. (I think this is very fair considering Piano Man normally gets 40+) Thank you for reading!! Remember to vote and comment.
