I push her hand off of me as she is about to fix my tie for the millionth time.
"Enough!" I yell at my stylist, veins appear on my neck as my face begin to blush of anger. She gasps in horror then murmurs something I don't hear. She walks away and I sigh in relief. I can't take her anymore, she is just another little annoying Capitol Citizen, though she is even worse. She keeps babbling about the Capitol gossips and fashions with her green manicured fingers flying in the air, touching my chest to fix something up that didn't even move. I hate when people are too happy and I hate when people touch me so that's 2 things that I already hate in her.
I turn around abruptly when I sense something behind me. Callisto Reed, the female from my District stands there, quite surprise that I even knew she was there, but she finally smiles. Not a normal smile though... A psychotic one that I know too well to be one of my selves.
"I just finished my interview with that crazy Sequin Sparkles, it's your turn." She says showing a disgusted look when she said the Interviewer's name. I turn around and ignore her, I don't need to be told anything by anyone. I do what I want, when I want.
I look at the mirror now in front of me and examine my outfit. I wear a normal white shirt under a pitch black jacket around my shoulders and my trousers are the same shade of black as my jacket. The only thing that makes me kind of outstand is my golden tie, yes the one that I am so annoyed of. I look at my face and my eyes and I don't see my normal tan face. Foundation is covers every corner of my skin and there is even some kind of black eye shadow around my piercing grey colored eyes. Probably to make them more sinister or something like that, though I don't like that. Makeup is okay, yes, on girls! I growl of frustration, unfortunately I can't do anything about it so I just look away.
I see Callisto trough the mirror, she's still there, really? Her right eyebrow is lift up and she has that "what are you waiting for" impression. I sigh in frustration and push her with my left hand as I make my way towards the stage. She stumbles a little but keep up on her feet.
"You are so going to regret it." She whispers menacingly with gritted teeth. Oh it's going to take me more than that to make me feel intimidated. I dark laugh escape my mouth as I appear on the stage. The crowd roars and claps, demanding a smile or a wave but I continue, head straight up, face covered up by a blank mask until I reach Sequin, our Interviewer and now I understand the disgusted look of Callisto when she talked about her to me.
Sequin welcomes me and I examine her closer; her hair are completely dyed bright pink. A kind of pink that I never saw, even in District 2. Maybe a magenta color? But no, it's even worse. They have been styled in a quite weird way. She wears glittered silver lipstick and her face has been caked with so much make up that there isn't one place that I can see her real skin. She has a really elegant silver dress that stretch until a little above her knees and that kind of flip upwards. Her high heels are, again, silver. They probable measures like 5 inches, but she's still shorter than me. But the thing that I capture the most is the sparkles; they are everywhere. On her dress and heels, that's normal but even her lipstick is caked with glitters, even her hair! Without forgetting her body! I tell you, sparkles on her body; arms, hands, shoulders, neck, face, legs, everywhere!
"Well these seats are not there for nothing! So let's sit, shall we?" She giggles. I look at her face and frown, what's so funny? I sit down and the crowd finally stop talking and whispering.
"So Bryan, how are you liking the Capitol yet?" She exclaims, gesturing at the crowd.
I remember the words of my mentor; be kind, be nice, the Capitol Citizens like when you give them likeable attention. So the Sponsors....
But I don't want to act nice to people who enjoyed my sister being murdered, why should I?
"To be honest, the Capitol is all but wonderful. It's monstrous, fake. I can't see humans anymore here, I can only see fakes and idiots aliens everywhere! You enjoyed my sister's murder, and you are turning me into one of you. I'm blood thirsty and I enjoy torturing, yes, but it is as revenge. You, are just enjoying it for fun."
She stares at me, eyes wide open like if I had done something out of the law. I just reply by staring at her with my piercing grey eyes, a glint of craziness in them. She clears her throat and turns to the crowd, who is as surprised as her and she says;
"We know that the Capitol is extremely different from the Districts, but it is not a reason to insult us like that."
"Talking about Districts and home, what do you miss the most from back home?"
"Nothing. I don't miss anything. There is nothing left for me in this life."
She sighs, probably because I'm more difficult than any tributes to deal with but then smiles quite weirdly, which cause my curiosity.
"So you don't have any family, girlfriend, friend that is waiting for you?" A mysterious grin playing on her lips though she is acting like if nothing is happening, like everything is happy and okay. Oh she knows what she is doing. She knows it's a sensitive subject, uh?
"You know what is awaiting for you, Miss Sparkles?" I spit in her face.
"Death!" I shout as I get up and throw my hands at her neck. Oh what I could do to her right now, live, on stage. Torturing scenes and blood flows through my mind as I look into her petrified eyes. My nails digging into her skin, drawing a little bit of blood.
But suddenly strong arms wrap around my neck and I'm force to back off. Sequin finally breathe out and asks for a glass of water while I'm forced to sit back down in the red velvet seat. I close my eyes but all I see is darkness and blood everywhere. Screams and screams of pain echoes in my mind. My breath accelerate but just in time, the smooth surface of the ring brings me back to reality. Her dark brown hair, a little bit messy, flows in front of me and her magical laugh is all I can hear.
Maya. I call but she disappear and I open my eyes back. Sequin Sparkles stands there in front of me, asking if I'm okay, Peacekeepers are still holding my shoulders.
"Just let's continue." I simply say. She sits back in her seat and appease the Capitol Citizens. Wow, they look so much like children of 8 years old, needing someone to reassures them and all. I'm so annoyed right now.
"Okay so let's start talking about the actual Games, shall we?" She asks, though it's more like if she's addressing to the crowd.
"Who stands the most this year in your opinion?"
"I would say me, but that would sound a little too selfish..." I start.
"Actually more that I think about it; the pair from District 6 is quite interesting... Habitually from that District, there is no real good tributes but this year there is something about them... It's weird." I reply, trying the best I can.
"Do you think they could be your biggest threats? If not, then who is?"
"No, not really. They are just interesting. I don't have threats, since I think I'm the biggest one but... Maybe the other Careers? Since I'm from District 2, I'm habitually supposed to team with them but I don't think I will. I have better allies." I lied, I have absolutely no threat.
"Oh you have other allies then? Who are they?" She asks. Can she just stop asking questions?
"District 6 male; Chase Williams and District 8 male; Cotton Lewis." I simply answer. She oohs and says;
"So you are teaming with one of District 6's pair... Interesting." She winks at the crowd and they copy her. How cheesy is this? I growl interiorly and roll my eyes, wow I'm teaming with him. What is wrong with that?
"Okay, going on the contrary subject; who, in your opinion, is the weakest tribute?"
"There isn't a lot of young, reaped tributes this year. A lot of, even the outline District, tributes have volunteer. What surprises me but anyway, nobody stands a chance against me. I'll say probably the girl from District 9 since she is only 12 years old and will surely not have a lot of fighting skills."
"Also, what gives you an advantage over the other tributes?"
"Well, obviously I'm from a Career District so I have trained all my life... But also because I have extremely good skills. And most of all, I don't have any feeling or emotion as you call it. So you won't succeed to get me." I say, maliciously.
"But you have to have at least one weakness? What is it?"
"I just said it, I have no weaknesses."
"Well okay then! What is your favorite weapon?"
"I really, really love hatchets. So watch out, I could just chop your head off."
She laughs though I don't know what's so funny.
"Though I will never do that."
"That would be too fast of a death. I will use any kind of little, sharp weapons to torture the victim." My smile turning quite crazy.
She changes position, uncomfortable and finally asks;
"Well the question that everybody waited for... Why, do you deserve to win?"
"I will give you a hell of a show so please, I deserve this. After all it's kind of your fault that 23 children are killed every year, though you take someone to do the job. This year it will be me so I think I deserve to win."
