-Mia-

It had been three months since I had arrived to work in the mafia and three more months until I was going to leave. Time had flown by and I realised that if I just ignored Vincenzo and kept everything professional, the day would go quicker and there would be no arguments or unwanted behaviour.

He had his own life and I had mine.

He had been gone for a while though, business trip, Dante said but he didn't know when he'd be back. I wasn't missing him as much as I thought I would. Honestly, I was glad he was gone for a while. I needed space and it felt uncomfortable being in the same room as him.

I wished that I asked for a job just as a maid so I wouldn't have to be around him so much. I didn't have the guts to ask him though and like I said, I only had three months left.

Cat had left. She had gone to live with her mother. The mafia wasn't the best place for her to stay and she reconnected with her family easily. We had each other's contacts and I often gave her a call to see how she and Bambi was. She told me that she'd try and visit or find some way for me to meet her child - which was going to be another girl. She was considering Annabelle for a name.

I was feeling great and in a brilliant mood because although I was working in a dangerous gang, I had three months left! I was so excited to buy a lovely new home, shop like I've never shopped before, donate to charity, buy a dog and loads more.

I was finished helping clean the kitchen in the maid's house and came out the building to have some freedom. I had finished my work for the day and was famished.

I went into Vincenzo's house to hear a squeal and quick footsteps coming closer. "Mia!" I gasped, picking her up and twirling her around, "Hello, April Grace! Did you have fun with your mother?" For a moment I noticed that she hesitated for a split second but then nodded and wrapped her arms around me for a hug.

She had her curly hair in two pigtails which made her look adorable and was wearing a floral, loose jumpsuit and some black, slip on shoes.

I realised that if April Grace was back from being with her mother then Vincenzo was most likely back as well. She left to stay with her mother while he was gone because Bianca insisted on it which I found strange, but you don't judge a book by its cover.

It was still the afternoon so I said, "why don't you get your cousins, we can go to the park. Ask your aunty first." April shook her head rapidly and I raised an eyebrow, "we're suppwosed to be napping."

"Napping?" I asked, "why are you awake, missy?" April giggled, "we wake up too early and then we hear a loud nwoise from uncle Dante's room and Alex says that they're dwoing 'the nasty'!"

My eyes widened. "But I don't know what the nasty is!" April frowned, "Alex won't tell me and Aria!" I bit my lip, feeling awkward yet having a feeling to laugh. It was probably the best idea to take the kids to the park. "I tell you what," I said, putting her down. "You go get your coat and tell you're cousins you're all going to the park and I'll be there in a moment to sort out Matteo." She hugged my knees and I smiled, stroking her hair before letting her run upstairs.

I loved April, she was such a lovely child. I also loved Alex for his funny yet bad jokes, just like his father he was. I loved Ariana because she was quiet and liked to read, just like me. She was so shy but it was adorable. Matteo was the only therapist you needed, I could tell him anything. Probably because he was a baby...
He had a good opinion as well. Never underestimate the mind of a child.

I was about to go upstairs when I heard, "good afternoon, Miss Feather." Dammit.

I spun around, seeing him. "Good afternoon, Mr Rossi. I've just finished my work for the day and am taking the children out to the park if that's all right with you?"

He put his briefcase down, his sexy hazel eyes scanning me up and down for a moment before snapping of his trance and saying, "yes. That's fine. Where's Dante?"

Feeling warm, I said, "he's preoccupied with Valentina at the moment." Understanding, he nodded slowly before asking, "is April already here?" I nodded, and he flashed me a quick dashing smile before jogging upstairs.

Man, did he look hot.

I could of sworn that he had tanned even more.

Imagine those toned abs in the sun.

Messy hair, those eyes, that cream, casual shirt. .

Snap out of it, Mia!

I walked upstairs, going into the kids room to sort out Matteo. Vincenzo sitting on the floor with all the kids on his lap. It was a lovely sight to see, the children seemed so small in his arms and they made this moment even more adorable.

I walked over to Matteo who was still in a mid nap but was waking up on his own. His eyelids were open by a small bit. The cute child was not even snoozing, he was having a lie-down.

"Great practice," I murmured to him as I gently put his coat on. "You'll need it when you're older." That's when he gave me a cute little smile and I cooed at him, kissing his cheek and smiling widely. "Aww, you like me, don't you?"

Don't judge me for talking to a baby, they actually listen and although they don't understand everything, it's nice to feel that they do.

Matteo had grown, he was almost able to balance his head and was starting to talk incoherently and move around more. The other day, he had been on his back and somehow managed to turn to his side, he was growing quickly.

I picked him up, holding him to my chest and turned to his siblings and cousin who were touching their uncle and father's stubble and asking questions about it. I couldn't help but smile as Vincenzo looked at me for a moment and smiled back softly - almost sadly.

"You kids ready?" I asked, and they nodded, saying yes and getting off their uncle/father. Cheering, they led the way by going downstairs and I turned to Vincenzo, "won't be long." I then left, going down the corridor, telling the kids to slow downstairs.

I was about to pass Val's room when I stopped, noticing the door was open. I knocked and heard a 'come in' and went in.

She was sat on her bed, wearing an oversized shirt with her head in her hands. Her hair was messy and from where I was standing I could see that her face was flushed. The bed was messy but Dante wasn't in the room. "Have a nice time?" I teased her as Matteo gurgled.

She looked up, her eyes red and I frowned, going closer. "It was before he started being a dick." I bit my lip as she sighed, "I wish he would listen."

"Wanna talk about it?" I asked as she reached out and took Matteo, kissing his cheek. Cradling him and looking longingly at him she murmured, "it's alright. Are you taking the kids to the park?" Her eyes were fixed on the child who smiled again as she held his small hand. I nodded, "yeah."

"Do you mind if Matteo stays? I just want to spend some time with him." I nodded again, "yeah sure, it's alright. One thing before I go." She looked up.

"Dante didn't. .you know," I started gesturing something that I wasn't even sure of. She didn't seem to understand. "He didn't ra-"

Her eyes widened, "no, no, don't worry." Valentina gave me a smile, shaking her head. I exhaled, glad. "Good, I just wanted to be sure because, after Cat, I'm keeping my eyes open. Anyway, stay happy, I'll come back in maybe half an hour or so."

"Thanks, Mia," she genuinely said, I gave her a quick smile before leaving the room, closing the door behind me.

Lately, Dante and her had been arguing about something for quite some time now and I thought the sex was them making up, but it seemed the matter was still there. I desperately wanted to know what it was but also wanted to give Val space. I was going to confront her about it soon. She was getting upset and I could see Dante was as well. They didn't seem themselves anymore. It was a good thing that the kids didn't notice this.

"Alright kids," I said, "let's go!"

We arrived in the park not long after and the children ran to the swings. I grinned, pushing each of them turn by turn. "Higher!" Alex yelled, excitedly. "Okay," I said, pushing Ariana. "Only if you tell me what the nasty is." Alex shrugged in his swing, "I don't know. Someone at school told me but never explained what it is. They just said it was what you're parents do once in a while." I laughed, pushing him higher. Kids.

"Whee!" April said, "look, Aria! I'm flying!"

"Me too!" Aria squealed, her hair whirling around in the air.

I was smiling widely and not long after, I let them play in the sand pit.
About ten minutes later, I noticed April crying. Frowning, I walked over, bending down and asking, "what's the matter, April?" That made her cry even harder.

Her cousins frowned also. Ariana seemed to feel her cousin's pain and started crying as well. "Why are you both being babies?" Alex asked, folding his arms. "Wait here, Alex," I said, passing him a car and taking the girls's hands and leading them to the bench.

I sat between them, letting them lead on my side and cry. "Don't be sad, girls. What's wrong?"

"I feel sad because April feel sad," Ariana mumbled, beginning to stop crying. I wiped both of their eyes, "it's alright, Aria. Tell me what's wrong, April."

With her head buried in my side she said, "Alex said that daddy said that I was going to sleep over at mama's house again because uncle Dante and daddy were going out. I don't wanna go to mama's house!"

"Why?" I asked, curiously.

She shook her head, sucking her thumb. Ariana sighed, "April! Tell her your secret!" April frowned, giving her cousin an angry look. "No!"

"What secret?" I asked, kindly.

"April has a secret and won't tell anyone! But she has to!"

"Aria!" April snapped.

"Girls, don't yell," I told them, "April, if Ariana thinks that you need to tell someone, you should because she's probably right," I said, concerned. "Do you want to tell daddy?" She shook her head furiously.

"Uncle Dante?" She shook her head.

"Aunty Val?" She hesitated but shook her head again.

". .me?" She frowned but nodded.

"Okay," I said, calmly. "What's up?"

"I have to whisper it." I nodded and she spoke words into my ear, her hand covering her mouth as my eyes widened at her words. "Oh my goodness!"

It took me a while to process what she had just said. My throat went dry and I felt sick.

"Let's go home," I said abruptly, standing up and calling Alex over.

I took them home where Valentina was in the living room, dressed and placing Matteo in his Moses basket. "Why the hard face?" She asked but I didn't reply instead, stormed back out the house.

I strode into the other building. I was angry - furious. I knew exactly where the slut was. Where she usually was. I bursted into the men's hang out. There she was, laughing on a man's lap.

I walked up to her and punched her.

She was going to die.
