Chapter 7: game night

The song started and as I looked at Hailey, she was having fun tonight and her pjs looked amazing on her. There is something about her that made me want to write that note to her. I don't know what this is because I didn't even know her that much, just her name and that she's competitive and a brilliant prankster.
"I won I won!" She said cheering
"You dance really good yourself" I said
"Bethany is the champ at that" she said
"Kind of" I said
"No way! Mario Kart game! Let's play, now" She said very excited
"Ok ok let's go" I said and we ran to the game
We played a couple of rounds until I gave up because she was way too good at that game.
"I give up! You're way too good at this" I said
"You know it" she said
"No one has ever beat me on games like this before" I said
"Then someone should have a long time ago" she said
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked curiously
"No offense and all but you kind of suck at the game, you don't know the tricks" she said
"Wow, thanks but since I know you're good at this games, how good are you on sport games?" I said
"Challenge accepted" she said
After a couple of rounds of Mario Kart, I gave up again
"Oh come on, are you good at everything?" I said frustrated
"This time I actually took it a bit easier on you. The problem is that once you are really good at this, you know the tricks and shortcuts" she said
"Wow! Now I know that I can't play any of these games with you" I said
"And look who's talking! The pro at poker" she sounded pissed
"You're still mad at that?" I asked
"Kind of, I'm still shocked you had a poker of A's" she said
"What can I say? I'm good at it" I say and she rolled her eyes
"Wow! I want a rematch soon" she said
"Ok, that will do" I laughed
After a while, we went outside the cabin to just get some fresh air. One of my favorite things of doing on camps is to stare at the sky and let the night breeze in my thoughts. We went to where the bonfires take place but tonight it was off and no one was there so we just laid down on the benches next to each other.
"Wow! I can't believe there are that many stars tonight! It looks amazing" she said
"Don't you just like when you just stare at the sky just to clear your thoughts?" I said
"Usually, I do this on a sunset on the beach" she said
"What I like most about doing this is that I can just let my mind flow and it releases all the stresses I have on my mind" I said
"Do you have any this moment?" She asked and for some reason I knew she was going to ask that
"No, but I just wanted to just clear my mind" I simply said
I was about to say something until the bedtime bell started to ring. I was kind of sad that this night is over because I was having a great time. Hailey was even nicer than I thought and that she is more than her competitiveness. I took her to her cabin and it was quite a quiet walk over there.
"I had a great time" she said
"Me too" I said
"Well, good night" she said
"Good night" I said and it felt kind of awkward. I continued walking away feeling really weird at the moment.
When I enterred my cabin, Zach, Sean, Jake and James just stared at me curiously. I knew what was up and I didn't want to talk about my night with Hailey
"What?" I asked since they continued starring
"Don't act all confused! Give the details!" Zach said in his pushy tone like always
"What about no?" I said
"Was it that bad?" Sean asked
"It wasn't bad, it was...um" I said kind of embarrased
"Just admit you had a good time! I know I did" Jake said
"Easy for you to say because you were making out with Michelle the whole night" James said
"She was more than that so how about you shut up" Jake said
"And you shouldn't act all innocent since you were flirting with Heather all the way" Zach said
"What happened? What did I miss?" I asked
"You see! For being all romantic, you missed all of this" Zach said
"I don't like her! I just took her out because I wanted to get fresh air" I admitted. I didn't like her, did I? I'm so confused with this
"And have you done that with other girls before?" Zach asked and I just looked at him really angry
"Ha! I knew it!" Zach said
"You know what? It's the first time taking someone to just look at the sky but that doesn't mean anything" I said
"You sure?" Sean asked
"Yeah, let's just go to sleep" I said
"Remember tomorrow" Jake said
"Yeah yeah whatever" I said
I went to sleep just wondering if I answered correctly towards what happened tonight with Hailey. Maybe tomorrow I will get over this.
