THE PLAYLIST
Finally, Ellie was ready. She'd pushed her ridiculously problematic life out of her mind, and was simply focusing on making it down the stairs on the boots she was wearing.
If anyone could rival Harry in terms of clumsiness, it was Ellie (at least that's what she thought).
Once she'd made it to the bottom of the flight of stairs, she walked to the door. Ellie took in a deep breath, steeling herself. She was about to spend three (or so) hours in a confined space with Harry Styles (that is, if they weren't taking the train). Then, she was meeting Harry Styles' family, and she didn't quite know whether to fangirl or to have a heart attack.
Honestly, Ellie thought that she'd died and gone to heaven a long time ago. Then again, it could also be hell, because she didn't quite know how she was going to control her breathing and her heartrate around him.
Deciding that it was now or never, Ellie reached out and closed her hand around the door knob, pulling on it. The door swung open, and she was suddenly very grateful for the extra layers of clothing she'd put on as an afterthought.
A cold blast of the London winter wind hit her, and she wondered why she'd bothered spending any time on her hair at all. It was clearly going to be ruined.
On the other side of the road, a black car (with tinted windows, of course) was parked. Ellie assumed that it had to be Harry's, and she made her way out of Amelia's front gate.
However, she was wrong.
A car horn sounded from her right side, and Ellie turned abruptly. Then, she threw a hand up over her mouth, to avoid almost snorting.
Sitting there, neatly parallel parked (better than Ellie could manage) was a blue mini, and behind the wheel of the aforementioned car was Harry Styles, smiling widely. Dimples and all. Ellie wasn't going to make it to Holmes Chapel without passing out.
Harry lifted one of his hands and motioned for her to come over to the car, but Ellie was still getting over the initial shock of him showing up in something that wasn't a limousine. Her body started moving of its own accord, carrying her towards the small vehicle. By the time she'd reached it and pulled the passenger door open, Harry was already leaning over with an outstretched hand, ready to help her with her bags.
She passed her single grey duffel bag to him, and he placed it delicately into the back. If it had been her, the bag would've almost certainly been flung unceremoniously. Ellie climbed into the car, buckled her seatbelt, and swiveled over to face Harry.
"Okay," she said, folding her hands over her lap, "Why are you in this exact car? I honestly expected a limo, Harry, and you've disappointed me." He simply grinned at her.
"Well for one, I'm not expected in this car, as you so simply proved," he raised his eyebrows and looked at her, "And blue is one of my favourite colours, or at least it was when I bought this car. I considered orange, but it was really quite ugly." Ellie laughed, the sound filling up the whole car.
"That does make sense, I suppose," she said, "As long as it has an AUX cord, I could think of worse vehicles to spend three hours in." Harry made a disapproving noise at her, before reaching over and tapping on a screen in front of them, illuminating a bluetooth menu.
"I hope you came equipped with all of your best playlists."
"Trust me, Harry, I have all of your songs on here. This is going to be the best car ride you've ever had."
