Finale Pt. 1

A/N: btw this is my second time writing this, i accidentally deleted it the first time and i almost cried.

Christina's POV

"We don't have to do this, you know." Harry reminded me, giving my hand a small squeeze as we walked up the stairs leading to our destination building. It's been five days since everything went down. Since then Harry and I have been working on patching things up. He apologized for his outbursts, repeatedly assuring me he meant none of it. He promised to drop the jerk act, hoping it would help us get back to the way we were before.

"I'm so sorry, Christina." He apologized. "I never wanted to hurt you, please know that. I was just scared. I pushed you away, and that was the opposite of what I wanted. I just wanted you closer. But I messed up and ruined everything. I'm just so sorry, Christina." He cried. He actually cried. I grabbed his arms, pulling him closer to me. I ran my hand through his hair, while my other hand rubbed his back.

"Don't cry. Please." I begged, as I continued to comfort him. It broke me to see him cry. "Let's just put this behind us."

We've been spending the past days lounging around inside my apartment, watching movies and trying to get to know each other even more. We basked in each other's company, stealing many kisses and acts of love from each other. We avoided the outside world, focusing inside on just us. We weren't going to move forward if we kept letting outside forces control us.

"No, we do. It just doesn't feel right, Harry. It never has." I told him. "I want to be with you, but I don't want to be paid anymore to do it. At first, it was just a job to me and I wanted to help you out of the goodness of my heart. From the beginning, I could see you weren't a bad person, and I didn't want to see you go down the drain because of fame and know that there was something I possibly could have done to help. But now you mean so much more to me, and I want to still be there for you without a contract tied around my neck. This deal with management has already caused so many problems for us, and I don't want it to anymore. I want it to just be you and I. Us two against the world." I cheesily remarked.

He nodded, understandingly, pressing a kiss to my temple. "We should have done this a long time ago. I was stupid and the excuse I used was stupid. All I did was cause us more problems." He shook his head, looking down at the ground. I let go of his hand and moved to stand in front of him right before we reached the door of the building.

"Hey, look at me." I said comfortingly, reaching my hands up to cup his face lightly. "Don't blame yourself, okay? No relationship is perfect, but we're here now, together, and we're still going strong. The past is the past and what matters most is right here and now. I'm with you, Harry, through happy times and our downfalls. Are you with me?" I asked.

He grasped my hands that were still on his face in his own. "Always." He replied, leaning in and pressing his lips on mine. I felt the validity of his promise in his kiss, feeling his love through our touch.

"Now let's go finish this." He said, pulling away and opening the door to our fate.

"Ms. Lawson, I'm surprised to see you so soon. You still had a few weeks left of our new deal." The guy with dark hair from before remarked, sitting in a chair a few down from us. We were sat at the same table in the same conference room as when they had requested me to come before.

"New deal?" Harry asked, seemingly confused as he looked at me for an explanation.

Oh shit. I forgot to tell him.

I squeezed my eyes close, putting my face in my hands. "I can't believe I forgot." I mumbled into my hands. I felt Harry grab my hands, trying to pull them away from my face.

"Hey, it's okay. I promise I won't get mad, whatever it is. Just tell me." He said, trying to comfort me into telling him. He successfully managed to pull my hands away from my face and I looked up into his eyes, as he awaited my explanation.

"She extended the contract." The guy, who I learned was named Mark, said before I even got a chance to. I glared at him for interrupting, and probably giving Harry the wrong idea before I even had a chance to explain.

Harry's head had turned to look at Mark when he spoke, and his head whipped back to face me.

"You extended it? Why would you do that, I thought you wanted to end it?" Harry questioned. I could see in his expression he was genuinely confused, but he wasn't mad like he promised. Although, I noticed his eyes held some doubt and I sincerely hoped it wasn't about me.

"It wasn't for the money, if that's what you're thinking." I said, immediately wanting to erase the doubt I could see storming in his mind; and it did, because now he just seemed confused.

"Then why?" He prompted, completely facing me as if forgetting Mark was still in the room.

"They had called me to come in. Well Paul, texted me about it. So I came and they were about to end the contract. I panicked. I didn't know what was going to happen to us after they ended it and we weren't in a good place at the time, so I extended the contract, asked them to give me more time with you to... fix you. It was the only thing I could think of to do." I confessed.

"When was this?" He asked.

I looked down, realizing I was also going to have to confess to lying to him. "The morning everything happened." I told him, and I knew he knew what I meant by 'the day everything happened'. He nodded, understanding, but then stopped as his eyebrows furrowed and he sat there stirring in his thoughts.

"But wait, I don't remember you saying anything about --" I cut him off knowing where he was going with this.

"I never went to meet a friend, Harry. Well, I did later, but when I said it, it wasn't my intention."

"So you lied to me." He said, sitting straighter in his seat.

"I was mad, Harry. You were throwing apologies and at the time I just really didn't want to hear it. I was still mad and hurt by what you said the night before, and I just wanted to leave."

"Leave me?" He asked, hurt by his seemingly new revelation. I shook my head quickly, placing my hand over his. We had taken so many steps forward lately and I could envision them beginning to tread backwards. I tensed, horrified at the thought.

"No, no, just leave the apartment. I just needed some space for a bit to think. I wouldn't leave you, Harry." I assured him, running my hand through his curls.

"Sorry to intrude, but I do have other appointments to attend to today. What did you want to discuss?" Mark spoke, looking between both of us with clasped hands.

Harry looked at me quickly before looking back at Mark. "We want to end the contract." He stated.

He raised his eyebrows as he glanced between the two of us. "You do realize what this means right?" He asked, instead of immediately pulling out the files that would end this once and for all.

"Um, yes." Harry replied, but didn't seem so sure. What's the worst that can happen? We were only putting an end to the source of many of our problems. We were finally putting this behind us and leaving it as a small bump on the road that we already traveled.

Mark shrugged, and grabbed his briefcase which contained the contract files, pulling out a manila folder and slid the contract over to Harry and I. Harry picked up the pen and twisted the cap off.

"By signing this, Ms. Lawson, you will no longer be receiving a paycheck. You two will no longer be bound to each other." He continued, reaffirming the situation, while Harry began to sign.

"We know." I told Mark, as Harry was signing.

He gave a brief nod. "Very well, Mr. Styles, we will send a moving truck to pick up your possessions from Ms. Lawson's apartment tomorrow morning. You have until then to say your goodbyes. It was a pleasure doing business with you." He said, repeating the line from the letter that started the whole argument between Zayn, Louis, and I.

Harry and I's eyes widened, and he dropped the pen realizing he already finished signing.

A/N:

Hiiiiii, so that was Pt.1 of the finale. What did you think? Vote and comment please! Pt. 2 coming soon, I was gonna do it tonight but it's my brother's birthday and he wants to go do something so I probably won't have time to. I split this into two parts but i think its still a pretty decently sized chapter; 1.5k words.

I just realized "Fix You" would have been a better title for this book. Oh well. Lol even though this book is basically over, do you think I should change the title to it? Or just keep it the way it is?

Btw please please please check out my other fanfics Reign and Vanished (which is a Luke Hemmings one) and vote for them. Please? Thank you!
