I could feel my hands sweating as I stood behind the door. I heard the music start playing and my heart pounded even faster.
"Hannah," my dad whispered next to me. I flinched at his voice, looking up at him.
"Yeah?" I wondered. He smiled down at me, and some of my nerves washed away. Some.
"I'm proud of you," he said warmly. My heart filled with joy to know how he felt.
"Thanks, Dad. I love you," I smiled back, lacing our arms together. The doors opened, and I looked at everyone staring at me. My stomach flipped, making it hard for me to concentrate, and I almost tripped and faceplanted.
I kept walking, tethered to my dad, gripping his arm too hard, and watching everyone watching me. My skirt flowed behind me, and I'm sure it was beautiful even though nothing like that was on my mind.
They won't like my dress. My dad is gonna let me fall. I'm gonna get really red in front of everyone.
My thoughts ran wild, and I tried to remember why I was humiliating myself; I was marrying the love of my life. My eyes looked up to see him in a tuxedo, looking beautiful as always. I took a deep breath in as I stopped in front of him and walked up the steps, being careful of my dress.
He smiled widely at me, and whispered something in my ear.
"You look so perfect," he said quickly, turning back to the minister. A wide smile came to my face, and I calmed down immensely.
When we said our vows, I looked at him and bit my lip nervously. He took a deep breath in and started talking. I was surprised he memorized them.
"Hannah. The first day I met you and we talked, I knew you would be special to me. The way your eyes sparkled, the way you laughed, the way you led the conversation, everything was perfect. As I came to know you, you opened up to me like no one had before, and I felt safe to do so, too. I'm the luckiest man in the world to marry such a strong, courageous, and passionate woman. You're perfect to me, and I love you." My eyes brimmed with tears at his words, and I could tell he was a bit emotional as well.
When we were finally done with the lengthy ceremony, he said the words I had been waiting all day to hear.
"You may kiss the bride." Niall pulled me close, and I gave him a small smile before kissing him. It felt so right and so perfect to have his lips on mine and his hands holding me to him. A feeling of warmth flowed through me, and it all felt so right. When we released, I heard the cheering.
"Finally. This could not have come sooner," Niall sighed next to me. I looked over at him and knew that the rest of my life would be the best because I would get to spend it by his side.
