I sigh as I grab my bag from the passenger seat of my car and head into the stadium for practice, when I get into the locker room to change for practice, I ignore the idle chatter of my teammates as I get dressed and head out when I'm dressed in my practice clothes. Once I get to the bench, I sit down and watch as Allie and a few others warm up, but look over when I hear Y/N and Alex talking on their way over to the ball bag from the locker room, so I wait for them to get a ball and get my own when they're on the field and warm up with Hanna. As I'm warming up with Hanna, Y/N loses control on her ball and it comes right toward me, not fast, or in the air at all, it just, calmly rolls over as if it were on a casual Saturday stroll. So I pass her ball back to her and resume warming up with Hanna, waiting until practice starts.
After practice, I end up leaving the stadium beside Y/N, who walks with her earbuds in, but looks over as we reach the parking lot, when she sees that it's me, she pulls out an earbud and offers me a small smile.
"Hey, I'd just like to say thanks." Y/N says and I furrow my brow.
"For what?"
"That call? I asked for the breed of a dog?"
"What was that about?"
"I wanted a puppy and couldn't decide on one, so you decided for me. And he's such a sweetheart, thanks for not liking me and giving me a bullshit answer."
"Uh, you're welcome?" I say and watch as Y/N walks off, to her car and disappears, when she's gone, I shake my head and keep walking to my car and get in so I can drive home.

When I get home from practice, I park my car next to Servando's and look over at Y/N's house when I hear her yelling, and smile when I see her playing with a puppy in her front yard with a big smile on her face, so I set my bag on the hood of my car and walk over, the puppy notices me and rushes over to me to trample my foot adorably.
"Hey, where are you going?" Y/N asks, turning, following the puppy, but stops when she sees me. "Oh, hey, Alex, I didn't hear you walk up." Y/N says, before a smile spreads across her face before picking up the puppy. "This is my new roomie, I still haven't decided on his name, I kinda wanna name him something weird, like Fish, but I also want to name him Wolfgang because why not."
"Zeus."
"No,"
"Why?"
"Roman Atwood named his German Shepard Zeus."
"So?"
"It just feels weird naming my German Shepard the same as my favorite YouTuber's German Shepard." Y/N says and I sigh.
"Does he make you happy?" I ask and Y/N nods.
"Yes."
"What's your favorite language that isn't English?"
"Portuguese."
"Well, how about Sortzen?" I suggest and chuckle when Y/N furrows her brow.
"I don't think that's Portuguese." Y/N says and I nod.
"I know."
"Then what language is it?"
"Basque."
"How do you know that?"
"No clue, I think I looked it up when looking for names for Blue."
"Well, I'll use it." Y/N says before moving the puppy to look at her. "Your name is Sortzen. Okay boy?" Y/N says before looking past me.
"I think your husband is getting jealous of me. Don't know why, you're like a sister to me. I'd sooner sleep with Moe than you."
"Not sure if I should be relieved or offended."
"Relieved, because you're married and older than me. And married. And did I mention, married?"
"Yeah. You mentioned my marital status." I say and Y/N laughs.
"Just making sure you know you're married to a dude."
"What's wrong with guys?"
"I can list a lot of things."
"But there are also a lot of good things, too."
"Well, I'll take your word for it, you're the heterosexual out of the two of us." Y/N says and I sigh.

About three months after that day, I sit on the bench, watching as Tobin and Y/N play side by side on the field and smile because they're one hell of a team, they'd probably be even better of a duo if they'd stop trying to tear out each others throat, but I don't see that happening. When I'm sent in, I go and stand at the half line on the side line and wait for the ref to call for subs, when subs are allowed on the field, I take my spot and wait for the game to resume, the half goes almost flawlessly, the only problem being a small squabble between Y/N and, well, Moe. The ref broke it up and the rest of the half went fine until half time, where we all went into the locker room, Tobin hands Y/N a bottle on their way to a couple of empty chairs and after we had warmed back up for the second half, Tobin is pulled off of the field to let her rest a little longer, but while Tobin was on the bench, Y/N was tackled too rough when she had the ball, so after Danielle helped Y/N off of the field, Tobin went in for her, and it was nasty, it was almost as if Tobin was playing to avenge Y/N.

As I lay on the table so Danielle can check my ankle, I watch the game and keep my eyes on Tobin as she plays with what seems to be a vendetta against the entire team, because she plays more aggressive than usual. I'd day it's against 22, but she was red carded for tackling me the way she did, and, well, we all know what happens with red cards.
After the game, when the teams line up to shake hands with each other and the referees, I get up and hop along next to Allie, who helps me and shake hands with the whole Dash team and shake hands with the refs before being carried back to the bench.
"Allie! Put me down!"
"No. Not until we get to the bench." Allie says and I sigh, letting her carry me back to the bench, when I'm put back on the table I was laying on during the game, Meghan, Morgan, and Carli walk over to me and smile at me.
"How you doing?"Meghan asks and I chuckle a little
"I'm a gimp again." I say and my three USWNT teammates laugh.
"Well, we apologize for Stephanie. I'm not sure what her deal was today." Carli says and I shrug.
"It's fine, it's all in the job description." I say and they smile softly.
"We'll see you next week for boot camp." They say and I nod before accepting help into the locker room.

I sigh as I'm interrogated by quite literally the entire team about why I was playing so aggressive after Y/N was hurt.
"Guys, drop it, please, I don't feel like being interrogated, I just want to shower and fly home." I say and roll my eyes as Alex walks over to me.
"Tobin, I know you're hiding something." Alex says and I sigh.
"I don't want to talk." I say and Alex sighs.
"Too bad, you're going to crack before Y/N comes into the locker room."
"No, I'm not."
"Oh, I think you are, we are best friends, after all." Alex says and I groan.
"I'm not saying anything."
"You sure?"
"Yes. I'm positive."
"Why?"
"Because I know you enough to know that if I tell you, you'll tell Y/N. And I don't want her to know."
"Know what?"
"Nothing, Alex, shut up." I say and Alex smiles.
"Mother of fuck my ankle fucking hurts. Get me the hell out of Texas so my dumb ass doesn't get hurt any further." Y/N says as her and Allie stumble through the locker room door. "Danielle! It's throbbing worse than before! Should it be doing that?" Y/N yells out as Allie leads her over to her cubby, and I watch as Danielle walks over to Y/N with an ice pack in her hand.
"No, it wouldn't be throbbing if you'd have let me ice your foot while your childish ass was laying on the table." Danielle sasses Y/N, who pouts.
"But the ice is cold."
"Well ice can't be hot, so suck it up and let me do my job dammit." Danielle says and Y/N stays silent while letting Danielle wrap an ice bag to her ankle.
