I sigh standing around the boring New Year party, Annie invited me to come seeing as we haven't seen each other in over three years and I know like no one here and Annie is too busy cooking and making special alcohol drinks and so I stand here alone watching Annie and her fiancé's friends from high school, college and work, no one I know is here, I could be drinking red wine and eating pizza on my couch right now but instead I'm in light blue denim skinny jeans and a flower bralet with white flats looking around seeing no one I know at all besides Annie.
As I sit on the side while people are having fun I notice someone looking at me, blonde hair, blue eyes, strong build and he's very handsome, he's not looking away from my eyes as the person he's talking to just keeps talking, his lips curve up to a smile and I give him one even though I don't know him, I wonder who he is?.

"Heyyyy Kat!" Annie smiles with her usual cup of water and I give her a little smile, I've been here for half and hour now and I just wanna go home now
"Hey Ann" I reply
"Are you having a nice time?" She asks and I shrug
"An alright time but I know no one" I admit honestly and she sighs
"I know... I just haven't seen you in ages and I wanted to see you" she explains and I give her a small smile, no matter what you can never get mad at Annie, she's just to nice and sweet
"I know, thanks for inviting me though, I'm glad to know some of my friends try to see me" I admit and I notice the guy from before is now talking to Finnick who is Annie's fiancé, I now decide I want to know who he is
"Do you by any chance know who he is?" I ask nodding my head towards him and she looks at the guy and giggles then looks back at me
"The blonde talking to Finnick?" And I nod
"They've been best friends since they could talk and walk, his name is Peeta Mellark, their mum's were best friends in college and Peeta's mum died recently in a car accident and it was hard for him seeing as he wasn't able to be with his family after the funeral cause he lives so far away but Finnick helps him get by" she explains and I nod
"He's single" she admits from the blue and I feel me cheeks redden
"You should talk to him!" She squeals
"No! You know how I am talking to guys!" I complain and she rolls her eyes and yells his name, he looks over and smiles then walks over and I now notice just how tall and stocky he is up close
"Peeta, this is my best friend Katniss Everdeen" and she then just walks away and he chuckles
"So you enjoying yourself?" He asks and I shrug
"I only came cause Annie wanted to see me" I admit honestly and he chuckles
"You're a good friend, Finnick is a great one" he says and I give a small smile
"You know you are much more beautiful up close" he admits confidently and I bite my lip to hide my smile but I'm sure he knows that I'm smiling
"You know, your the first guy that's ever called me beautiful, besides my older brother and my dad" I state
"Well. You are very much beautiful" he says and I blush

"Oh my god! Let me get this straight! You're brother got you stuck in a tree?!" I laugh
"Hey! That's not funny! I was five and the Fire department had to come and get me down!" He defends as I still laugh and soon he joins in too
"I really love your laugh, it's so cute" he admits and I blush, goddammit Katniss! And soon we hear people counting down from 10 and Peeta and I join, when we get to 0, I don't even get I chance to realise that Peeta's lips are on mine and I get that warm feeling in my stomach and I kiss back making him pull me closer and let's just say after that we got much closer, thanks to that New Years Kiss.
