I climbed in the drivers seat of my truck and turned the key in the ignition, then plugging the auxiliary cord into my phone and searching for a song with the swipe of my thumb. I finally decided to go to my Car ride playlist.

A big stupid smile crept upon my face causing my cheeks to cramp. I then pulled out of the parking space and made my way home singing along with the radio.
"Oh hey what's up" dean patted my shoulder and stepped aside so I could walk in. " I won't be gone for more than 5-6 hours and thank you by the way."
" Yeah no problem" I smiled
A little girl then ran over to us with a pink book bag and a stuffed bear underneath her arm. She wasn't like most little girls who would hide behind someone's leg or not make eye contact with you she looked me dead in my eyes and I swear I seen flames in her little pupils.. okay not literally but she looked like Satan in a pretty pink bomber jacket.
I squatted down to her level and stuck my hand out. " hi I'm (y/n)"
She put her hand on her hip and gave me a sassy look. " can we go get ice cream?"
" Uh sure why not?"
" hi I'm Neveah" her sassy attitude changed to a smile and she wrapped her small hand in mine shaking it softly
I then stood up and looked dean in his eyes giving him a look.
" I know I know she's a little extra " he whispered smiling at her. " Alright I have to go, veah remember be good and I'll give you money."
She smiled evilly and nodded her head.
We all walked out of his apartment and I lead veah to mine. I quickly unlocked it and let her step in first closing the door behind me. " we can go get ice cream for lunch Alright?" I smiled nervously hoping she wouldn't throw a fit.
" Uhg fine." She rolled her eyes " do you have any barbies?"
" no.." I furrowed my eyebrows
" why you're a girl? Girls should have Barbies. When I grow up no matter how old I get I'm gonna collect barbies." She closed her eyes and smiled dreamily
" oh yeah ? How old are you now?"
She held up six fingers
" 6?"
" no 6 in a half I didn't learn how to do that yet though " She shrugged her shoulders and walked over to the grey suede couch. Pushing her self up on it and throwing her backpack to the side. " do you have a boyfriend? "
I giggled and sat my backpack down on the floor " Uh no ? Do you?" I sat down on the other end of the couch like she had a deadly virus and waited for more questions to be thrown at me.
" you like girls don't you? And no I'm focusing on me right now I just went through a break up" she looked at her nails and pulled out a rainbow nail filer from her bag.
What the hell did I get myself into." Yes I do actually.. and Awh what happened?" I chuckled
" Do you have a girlfriend? And it's not funny well it kind of is, I pinched him and he cried like a little baby and told on me so I left him." She rolled her eyes and continued to file her nails.
" I guess you could say that.. we aren't that serious yet though." I told her truthfully
" why not? Don't you like her?" She stopped filing her nails and looked up at me and crossed her leg like she was a mini therapist
" well yeah I like her a lot but we kinda just met." I giggled and slouched down getting comfortable " you hungry?"
" yeah do you know how to make breakfast? Because I don't " She asked
I giggled " yeah come on, and you can take off your shoes you're gonna be here for awhile."
She kicked off her shoes and ran into the kitchen with me then looked up at the counter and cleared her throat.
" What?" I asked confused
" Uh can you give me a lift?"
I let out a little throaty laugh and picked the little girl up and sat her on the counter.
" so where is she?" She crossed her leg over her knee again
" who?" I grabbed a bunch of fruit from the fridge and grabbed a cutting board then began to cut up the fruit in little snack sizes.
" the girl? And what's her name?"
" Lauren. And she's onnnn vacation.."
"Can we FaceTime her ?"
" Uh maybe later she's probably getting some rest right now."
" do you love her?"
" it's too soon to call that. I care about her though" I giggled " you ask a lot of questions you know?"
" Hey I'm helping you figure out your relationship. I help people all the time, and this week Dylan even proposed to caddie using her favorite ring pop. It was her dream proposal" She gave me a sassy look and flipped her long dark brown hair behind her shoulder. " I'm kind of a big deal"
I laughed hysterically and put the cut up fruit into a bowl. " I can tell, here snack on this while I make pancakes."

I helped her off the kitchen counter and lead her to the living room.

I had just realized I was standing in the middle of the living room with a stupid grin on my face. " oh uh yeah "
She slid off the couch and walked up to me taking my phone right from my hands.
" hey don't-"
" Hi are you Lauren?" Her face up close the camera. And I seen Lauren smiling on the screen looking at me.
" Yes and what's your name cutie?"
" Veah. Do you like (y/n)?"
I then snatched my phone back when she wasn't looking. " sorry she took my phone From me." I gave Lauren a 'I told you so' look
" it's okay we're just sitting here watching movies anyways." She giggled
Veah stood in front of me with her hand on her hip and a straight face. " uhm I was talking to her!"
" Yeah (y/n) we were talking" she smiled brightly and giggled
I rolled my eyes in defeat and gave her my phone then plopping down on the couch. I patted the cushion next to me gesturing for her to sit down next to me.
" so do you?" She asked
" yeah she's not to bad " she laughed " do you like her?"
" I agree with you." She then leaned against my arm " where are you going?"
" Texas I believe "
"Why?"
I let out a long sigh figuring they would be on the phone for awhile so I found the movie pets she was talking about earlier and got it ready so we could watch it after they were done talking.
I then pushed my self off the couch and made my way to the kitchen to clean up. " I'll be right in here" she didn't even acknowledge me so I carried on with what I was doing.

They've been on FaceTime for an hour now talking about Disney movies and cartoons.
I was cleaning up my apartment because I got bored but now that there's nothing left to clean I decided to join them again. I plopped down on the couch causing her to lose her balance and fall over a little.
" I think she likes you more than me veah" I giggled
" Ooo you jealous?" She bit the inside of her bottom lip and smiled
"Maybe" I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
" Hey I'm gonna take a nap Veah I'm sleepies it was nice meeting you though!"
" Uhg okay bye Bestfriend!" She clicked end and threw the phone on my lap. " Can we watch pets now?"
" Yeah" I leaned forward and pressed play then getting comfortable on the couch. Veah grabbed the pillow next to her and laid down, hopefully she'll fall asleep.

I noticed that we were approaching a little ice cream parlor so I slowed down and parallel parked in the only empty parking space in the busy city.
" can I see my phone please?" I reached back and grabbed my phone from veah to text Lauren.

" he's in there." She pointed through the glass window to a little boy with light brown hair and tan skin.
"Uh who?" I said with a confused look
" my ex !" She slapped my thigh and tried to drag me back to the Jeep
" really now who's the big baby?" I picked her up and walked closer to the door. " it'll be fine calm down I actually want some ice cream."
" can you AT least put me down! " she looked pissed off so I did as I was told and held the door open for her
She smoothed her pink bomber jacket and fixed her hair then casually walked in to the glass counter looking up at the woman who made your order.
" hi sweetie what can I get for you?" She asked politely leaning over the counter
" strawberry ice cream with whip cream and lots of sprinkles and chocolate syrup." She kept glancing over to her 'ex' as she spoke
" In a cup please." I added " and I'll just take a birthday cake remix with extra brownie chunks"
She smiled and began to make our order.
I then look down and see the little boy making his way towards us and fixing his light brown hair.
" Hey Veah" he spoke nervously
" hi Cole." She flipped her hair dramatically and put her hands in her jacket pockets
" Brandon is having a birthday party Wednesday and I was wondering if you would like to go with me?" He began to rock on his feet as he waited for an answer
" I don't know I'll think about it.."
" Alright here you are your total is gonna be $8.56" the woman behind the counter said as she held out our ice cream.
" I got this" she said in a sassy tone still looking at Cole then flipping her hair and turning to the register
I furrowed my eyebrows and suddenly felt her discreetly tapping my leg. " What?" I whispered
" i need money" she whispered back
I let out a throaty laugh and slid my card down my thigh so Cole couldn't see and she took it then handing it to the cashier.
The woman laughed and took the card from her little hand and gave me a look smiling. I walked closer to the counter and leaned in " that's her ' ex' apparently I don't know what's going on either"
We both laughed and she handed me my card but I nodded towards veah. She giggled and handed veah my card instead.
" thank you" I smiled and turned on my heels to find an empty table
" Hey!"
I turned back around and seen that the cashier had called for me. " Uh Yeah?"
" would you like to go out for coffee some time?" She asked, her cheeks now a shade of light pink
" Uh I have a girlfriend sorta kinda, I'm sorry." I laughed awkwardly
" as friends.. I'm new here "
" Oh then Uh sure why not?" I smiled and took a pen from the cup holder on the counter and wrote my number down. " I'm (y/n) by the way." I held my hand out and she took it almost immediately
" Erin" She smiled then walked away to help the next costumer.
Me and veah then found an empty booth and sat down to eat our ice cream. " so what's up with you turning down a birthday party?"
" because he asked me" she took a big bite and left whip cream all over her cheeks
I then grabbed a napkin from the white napkin dispenser next to us on the table and wiped her face off. " I think you should go you'll have fun."
" fine." She then got up and walked over to Cole. " I'll go with you." She rolled her eyes and walked back over to our booth sliding over to the far side.
" see now was that so bad?" I giggled and took a bite of my ice cream. She then reached over the table and wiped my face. " thanks" I chuckled
