BACKUP
JACE, CLARY, AND I WALKED OUT OF THE POLICE STATION. I laughed. "Don't laugh at me, Bella. You know what? I'm gonna bring Alec with me next time," Jace said. I giggled. "I don't think he's ever slapped me in the face before." "I'm sorry, okay. I panicked." "Someone call for backup?" Isabelle asked. Her and Alec walked over to us. I looked over at Alec and smiled a little bit while blushing.
"Yeah. What took you guys so long?" Clary asked.
"Funny, I was going to ask you the same thing." Alec said.
"It's complicated." Jace said.
"We found the Cup!" I said to Isabelle.
"The Cup?" Isabelle asked, her eyes widened a little.
I sighed, "Then we lost it." I added with a frown.
Alec turned to look at me. "We have to sneak back into the precinct and get it," I say.
"This is a disaster." Alec sighed, folding his arms.
"Hey, demon pox is a disaster. This is an inconvenience." Jace said, "We just need a plan, that's all." "Yeah, cause the last one worked out so well!" I grinned. "Okay, Bella." Jace said.
"What about a glamour?" Isabelle asked that.
"No. God no, I'm not doing that again." I said.
"Bella," Jace said. "And no, we did try that," Jace added. "Yeah, didn't work out very well." I say, frowning. "Anyone working with Valentine will see right through it. Can we ask Magnus Bane to portal us inside?" Clary asked. "No." Alec said. "Magnus can only portal us to places that he'd been before." Alec explained. "Oh." I breathed. Clary's cell phone started ringing, and I moaned.
"Clary," I whined, "Not again." "Just give me a second, Bella." Clary said, she walked away.
Isabelle sighed and linked arms with me. "So, you guys wanna tell me what's going on with you two?" She asked, looking back and fourth between Alec and I. "Uh, nothing is. No, nothing," I said, looking up at Alec. "I don't know what you're talking about." He looked right at me while saying it.
"Simon's little problem can wait. I've got a great plan." Jace said. "Oh, there's a first," Alec says. "Oh, and don't worry. In my plan, no one gets slapped," Jace said, eyeing Clary and I.
I giggled, "Thanks! I really appreciate it!" I grinned.
"Come on, let's go." I nodded, following the group.
