Dear broccoli buddy,

"How are you?"

Yes, I know how pathetic how are yous are, especially

When it's addressed to your closest friend (broccoli buddy) whose eyes read you like

Signposts and maps,

Whose facial expression easily determined the answer that

They, for some reason, have to vocally answer anyway, even though we both know

You're doing swell.

(Pssh, your eyes gave it away!)

"What have you been up to?"

This time, I don't even have to see the curve playing on your lips nor

That sparkle ignited in your eyes to know

That you've been up to nothing but your normal mischief, as usual (duh!), that

Used to send us bursting into random bouts of laughter at

3am in the morning, sipping mugs of coffee while playing PS2 games while

Enjoying the time we thought was

F O R E V E R.

(But of course, it wasn't. Duh!)

"How's life in your new home?"

This one was a little less obvious but still,

A question easily solved by the likes of broccoli buddies (don't underestimate us!).

We both know that you seem to find it difficult to

Properly move in and

Break the ice with fellow peers and

Properly act like yourself because, hey, guess what?

(That's how life for me is too.)

Leave it to broccoli buddies to feel the same things, like

A pair of twins, except we look nothing alike, except

On the inside maybe, and

Most certainly, the structures of our tongues that

Somehow were the very reason our friendship exploded into

Existence.

Because when a pair of five year olds fourteen years ago in the past

Went beyond the norm of most children and chose

To revolt against what was, back then, sacred kindergartener law and

Actually enjoy the taste of sweet, sweet broccoli on

The tips of our tongues to the point where

We demanded seconds and thirds, we both knew that

It was undoubtedly fate.

"You wanna go for coffee?"

This time, I know the answer before the words even

Spill out my lips.

You shake your head (I shook mine too) as

You dragged me towards your motorcycle, where I kinda knew

What was going to happen.

For there,

Resting within a pink (boo stereotypes!) container,

Laced with a cheeky velvet ribbon was none other than

What started it all:

A forest of broccoli.

A/N: I know. This is a little weird but I wrote this at 2AM after the longest call in the world with my very own broccoli buddy, haha. Hope you guys enjoyed regardless! :)
