The blue in his eyes glittered in the fall moon. He stood in front of me, so close I could feel his hot breath on my face. I looked up and met his stare. He took a slightly bruised hand and pushed my curly hair behind my ears. His other hand lightly touched my cheek as he leaned in and kissed me gently on the lips. I was taken aback but I quickly shut my eyes and put my hands around his neck as he kissed me again.

"(Y/N)" my eyes shot open and looked at the bright autumn sky. "Time to get up" I groan and pull myself up. Maggie is standing above me and she smiles as I squint at her. "You slept on the porch again, isn't it cold?" I shrug my shoulders and point at the big plaid jacket I had adorned last night.

The others and I had stumbled upon a farm a couple weeks ago. It seemed pretty safe and untouched from the walkers. Most of the fences were still in tact and some of the animals were still alive. There were 4 chickens, 2 pigs and 6 horses in all. The horses were my favourite. I liked to sit on the fence and watch them as they lazily ate or occasionally trotted around their enclosure. My favourite was the brown and white one that always came up to me. I had named him Bear. So far everything's been going good. There was a barn, animals, fences and best of all a house which still had some food in it. The only thing that would be even better is if Carl actually acknowledged I existed.

I followed Maggie into the house. Carol, Sasha and Michonne sat at the table as they talked and ate some bread. Rick and Judith sat in one of the old rocking chairs. Glenn came over and asked if I wanted anything. I nodded and he got me some dry cereal (my favourite!) Other than that it seemed like everyone else was outside. I glanced around again looking for Carl but I couldn't see him. I looked back at my cereal sadly and I quickly scarfed it down. "Someone's hungry" Michonne says with a laugh as she walked by me and set her plate in the sink. I smiled at her as I took off my thick jacket. "Are you going outside?" Maggie asked me from the living room. I nodded, "I'm gonna go feed the horses." "Ok be safe!" She yelled behind me as I slammed the door behind me.

I looked around at the scenery and admired the crimson red and pumpkin orange leaves that waved lazily in the wind. I stuffed my hands in my sweater pockets and walked towards the barn. As I walked in I stopped for a moment. I thought about the dream I was having before Maggie had awoken me. It seemed so real. So good. The sad part was, was that I knew there was no way Carl would actually look at me the way he did in my dream. How his eyes screamed I'd die for you but also how they gleamed as they looked at my lips hungrily. I blushed, and grabbed a couple buckets. I filled them with feed and I slowly walked over to the fence. I unlatched the chain and it fell to the side and clanked noisily as I shut the gate. As I walked towards the pasture, the horses perked their ears at me and slowly walked over to the fence. I climbed over and gave each of them some food. I walked over to Bear and stroked his glossy black mane as he greedily gulped down his breakfast. I had named the horses as well, but Bear was still my favourite. There was a black horse and I named him Shadow. The white horse was named Lucy. The two palominos were named Dusty and Spice and the last brown horse was named Noel. After they were done eating, I collected their buckets and threw them over the fence. Meaning to pick them up later.

I walked to the middle of the pasture and looked towards the forest which was fenced off. I scanned it looking for any signs of life. Nothing. The horses had moved towards the pile of hay we had found and I watched them for a moment. I started to slowly back up to the fence when someone yelled "BOO!" behind me. I yelped and jumped forwards. I whirled around expecting to see Glenn or Daryl but instead, Carl was standing there. His arms hung limply over the fence and his sheriff hat was pulled back so I could see his gorgeous blue eyes. He had the type of eyes that you could drown in. He smirked at me as I smoothed down my curly hair. "What's up?" He asked as he climbed over the fence. "N-not much, you?" He walked over to the horses and petted Dusty. He shrugged his plaid covered shoulders and glanced at me. "Wanna go for a ride?"

"What?" I asked him. "I said, wanna go for a ride?" He gestured to the horses and I laughed. "Um, sure...are we allowed?" Carl didn't say anything instead he just winked at me and jumped back over to the fence. I followed him and grabbed the buckets as he pushed open the unlatched gate. Carl jogged towards the barn and I ran to keep up. In the barn, I dumped the buckets on the ground and Carl grabbed two horse halters. As he handed a red one to me, his hand brushed mine. I could feel red creeping up my neck and I hoped he couldn't see it. Carl didn't even glance at me as we strode to the horse pen. "Which one are you taking?" He asked me. "Bear" I replied. "Uh, which ones Bear?" I laughed shortly, wanting to kill myself. How would he know who Bear was?! I'm so stupid. "Bears the brown and white one" I manage to say. He nods silently. Carl walks towards Lucy and puts his lead around her neck so she cant runaway. "Which one am I riding then?" he asks me, sounding genuinely interested. "That's uh, Lucy" I mumble as I slip the halter on Bear and fasten it. "Cool" he replies. We lead Bear and Lucy out of pasture and into the middle of the other enclosed pasture that lead to the 'Haunted Field' or that's what Daryl calls it anyways. It's basically just a field with lots of trees growing in it. But it does have some good walking/riding paths. I tie the other end of Bears lead rope onto his halter and attempt to jump on his back. I fail. Carl smiles and lets go of Lucy's rope. He walks over, "wanna a hand?" I smile and nod my head. I grip Bears lead and some of his hair. "Ok, step on my knee" Carl says as sticks out his knee. I slowly step on it, trying not to put my whole body wait on it. Carl gently places hands on my hips to steady me and jump on Bears back. "Thanks" I tell him as I straighten myself out. "No problem" he replies as he smoothly jumps on Lucy's back. I steer Bear towards the gate that led to the Haunted Field. Someone had left it open this morning and we walk through it. There was nothing but silence other than the wind blowing through the trees and the clip clop of our horses hooves on the dry mud. "So I guess you like horses, right?" Carl asks me. "Yeah, they're pretty cool" I say in return. I glance at him and all I can think about is my dream and how his brown hair has fell into his eyes as he had leaned, ever so slightly towards my face. "You ok?" He asks me as we turn a corner. I blink my big eyes and look at him. "Yeah, just got distracted" I reply lamely. He smiles and I hear a distant crack of thunder. Bear and Lucy's ears prick forward and they walk a bit faster. I pat Bear comfortingly. "It's ok, buddy" I coo into his ears. I look up and notice some patches of dark clouds. "Should we turn back?" Carl asks me. "It would probably be best" I steered Bear around and Carl followed my actions. Another crack of thunder filled the quiet air and Bear reared up. I yelped and fell off his back with a big thud. Bear ran around the bend and disappeared. "Oh my god! (Y/N) are you ok?" He asked worriedly as I sat up on the dirt. I suppressed a small smile, "I'm ok, just a bit achy." He breathes out a sigh of relief. "Come on, you can ride with me" he says with a kind smile. The small ray of sun that hasn't disappeared, shone into his eyes and they gleamed as he helped me up. "Thanks" I murmur as he helps me onto Lucy's back. He hops on behind me, "lead the way cowgirl!" He says laughing as I kick Lucy's sides to get her going. As she started to walk, Carl put his hands on my hips. I glance back at him momentarily and he quickly takes them off. "Sorry" he says to me. I shake my head, "it's ok" I say with a smile. He rests them on my sides again. Up ahead I see the gate that was swinging loosely in the wind. We approach it and I stop Lucy to look for Bear. "I see him" Carl says as he slides off the side of Lucy. "Go put her away, I'll go get him." "Thank you" I say as I walk Lucy into the pasture and Carl takes off after Bear.

I untied Lucy's halter and gave her a quick kiss on the nose. When I looked up I saw Carl walking towards me with Bear beside him. "My prince!" I exclaim laughing as he hands me his lead. I take him into the pasture with the other horses and untie his halter. Carl sat on the edge of the fence as another clap of thunder rang out over the farm. Carl looks over his shoulder at the gate. "Better go close that" he says with a faux sigh. I laugh and climb over the fence. Carl ran past me and down the side of the pasture to the gate. I clutched the halters and smiled to myself as I leaned up against an old bale. As I stood there waiting for Carl, I head yelling. It was coming from the Haunted Field and I turned my head. I saw Carl standing there holding open the gate as Daryl, Tyreese and Tara come running out of the woods. They were yelling something that I couldn't quite make out. I stepped forward a few steps to hear them. I strained my ears and I finally made out Daryl yelling the most dreaded word ever. "WALKERS!" I catch my breath as the three run through the gate and Carl closes it behind them. I couldn't see anything past the first row of trees in the Haunted Field. To make matters worse rain started to pour from the sky like there was no tomorrow. Then again who knew if there would be. I took a step backwards as the others ran down the middle of the pasture. I made out Carl and he was yelling something at me. "RUN!" I heard him say. I stumbled backwards and I stole a glance at what loomed behind the closed gate. Walkers stumbled out of the forest. They limped and stumbled towards the gate slowly. They stopped at the gate. They still moved against it but they couldn't get through. More and more streamed out of the trees and I fought back a scream. I ran towards the others, who were jumping over the fence. I clutched the halters as they flew out behind me as I sprinted across the pasture. I jumped the fence and stopped to catch my breath. I looked around and I couldn't see anyone or anything through all the rain. I wiped my eyes and ran towards the barn. I pulled open the big doors and I jumped inside. I quickly locked the doors and threw the halters on the ground. I stumbled backwards towards the back of the barn. I moved slowly trying not to trip in the dark. As I walked backwards still staring at the closed door, I walked into something or someone. I yelped but they covered my mouth with there callused hand. "Shhh!"

I whirled around. I couldn't see anything, which scared me even more. I heard a match strike something and I small orange flame danced in the darkness. The person held it in front of their face. I made out some shaggy brown hair and a pair of big blue eyes. The match burnt out and I sighed. "Carl! You scared me!" He smiled coyly as he struck another match. "Are you ok? Are you bitten?" He asked me as he put his hand on my wet arm. "N-no...are you?" "No" he replied. "Where are the others?" I asked as I took a step to the left. "I don't know, we got lost after we jumped the fence. The rain was so bad I couldn't see anything." I glance behind me in the direction of the door. "I hope they're ok" I say sullenly as I hug myself for warmth. Carl didn't say anything, instead I heard a small squeak and the strike of a match. In seconds, most of the barn was illuminated in a warm glow. "How'd you find that?!" I say as I look at his face. "I saw it by the door when I ran in here." Before thinking of what I was doing, I leaned in and hugged him. He tenses up but then he wrapped one of his hands around my soaking body. We walked towards the pile of hay that was sitting in the corner. I fell into the scratchy hay, not caring that it was uncomfortable. Carl sat down next to me. We sat in silence for a moment. "Carl?" I ask, breaking the silence. "Yeah (Y/N)?" I take a deep breath, "why are you being so nice to me?" He looks at me, "what do u mean?" I sigh, "well, up until today you've never acknowledged that I existed. You never even talked to me like once." He looks at the ground and sets the lamp on an old box. I glance at him and he glances back at me. His eyes look sad and tired. His hand brushes mine and I hold back a smile. "I avoided you, well, because I realized along time ago that it's way easier to hide and bury your feelings than to share them and get hurt." My chest tightens and I take his hand in mine. "You can tell me anything" I whisper as he looks at me with uncertainty. A small tear rolled down his freckly face and into his shirt. I squeeze his hand as I lean over and wipe the tear from his face. I go to sit back down, but he catches my cheek with his other hand. He lets go of my hand and rests his protectively around my waist. I find myself catching my breath again as I wrap my hand around his neck. I look into his eyes and for once in my life since this all happened I felt like I belonged. Then, he leaned in and did the most simplest thing a person could do. He kissed me, and the whole world cracked open. It was short and sweet. I was blushing red as he pulled away. I shake my head as I pull him towards me again. His lips lock with mine and they move against each other perfectly. After a few seconds, I let my hand drop and Carl catches it. He interlaces his fingers with mine and I sit back. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that" he whispers. I smile, "I think I have an idea" I reply as we sit and listen to the rain.

I woke up with an arm draped around my shoulder. For a moment I couldn't remember who it belonged to and then I remembered. I smiled to myself as I sat back and thought back to when we kissed and it made me feel warm inside. Next to me Carl was sleeping peacefully. I brushed a lock of his brown hair out of his eyes before I stood up. It was still raining but not as hard. I crept over to the barn door and opened it. I could see the house and the pastures. I craned my neck to see the Haunted Field, the fence was down and walkers were slowly entering the pasture. Soon they would cover every inch of ground. I shuddered and ran over to Carl. If we hurried we could make it to the house and others. "Carl!" I say as I shake him awake. He opens his eyes and smiles sleepily at me. "Hey" he says as he stretches out. "We have to go!" I said urgently. He sat up a bit straighter and looked around. "Why? There's walkers out there," I shook my head. "No, not yet, but there will be if we don't go now!" He sighs, "We could go and risk our lives..." he glances up at me. "Or we could just make out..." he suggests slyly. I roll my eyes as I help him up. "We can do that later" I say quickly as I run over to the door. Carl grabbed an axe that he found and I grabbed a pick axe. "Are you sure, you don't just wanna wait?" Carl asks me. I shake my head vigorously as I clutch the pick axe. "Ok" he says, before he opens the door he kisses me lightly on the lips. With that he pushes open the door and we run out into the dark rainy night.

The walkers were getting closer and the rain was getting harder again. I pushed my dripping hair out of my eyes as I look around. I couldn't see anything other than Carl who loomed next to me. "Make a run for it?" I yell over the rain. "What?!" he says as he turns to look at me. Before I can reply I see a walker coming up right behind Carl. "Carl!" I scream. He whirls around and sinks his axe into its rotting skull. He pulls it out and swings it blindly again. It pierces another walker and I run to help him. As he pulled the axe out of its bloody ribcage I stab its skull with the pick axe. After, we make a run for it in the direction of the house. Behind us we can hear the walkers creeping closer and closer. We stop for a moment to look around. Walkers start to surround us and I whimper as I search for Carl's empty hand. Before I can find it Carl starts swinging the axe at the walkers. I follow his lead. Blood and guts mix with the rain on my shirt. I breathe heavily as I kill yet another walker. It's endless, they just keep coming. "We have to go now!" I yell at Carl as we continue to slaughter the walkers. "Lets go!" He yells back at me. I find his hand and we sprint towards the house that we can finally make out. When we get to it we slip on the wooden steps as we run up them. I twist the door knob and it's locked. We bang on the door as walkers start to approach the house. "Let us in!!!! "It's (Y/N) and Carl!!!! Let us in!!" The door creaks open and I see Michonne standing there. "Get in! Get in!" She says hurriedly as she opens the door up for us. We slip in breathlessly and she slams the door and locks it. I lean up against the wall and Carl slumps down to the ground panting. "We thought you were dead!!!" Michonne says, her eyes filling with tears. I laugh but my laughter quickly changes to crying. I sit down next to Carl and put my face in my hands. Hot tears warm my face as they roll lazily down my cheeks. Michonne crouches down and pulls me into a warm hug. She smelled surprisingly like cinnamon and I hugged her back. "It's ok" she cooed into my ear. I nod and try to stop crying but I can't. Michonne lets go of me and pulls Carl into a hug. He rests his head tiredly on her shoulder. Michonne always did seem like the motherly type. "Your dad has been going out of his mind" Michonne whispered as she let him go. She stood and helped us up. We walked quietly into the kitchen. Maggie and Carol were seated at the table. Carol had Judith cradled in her arms. They jumped up and came to embrace us. After the quick exchange, we walked into the living room and Rick, Glenn, Tyreese, Daryl, Sasha and Tara were all standing near the window. They were all holding guns and weapons. They gazed out the window miserably as walkers milled around the lawn and property. They didn't even notice me and Carl. I clear my throat and they turn around. "Carl!" Rick shouted as he dropped his gun and ran to hug his son. Carl hugged him back. I smiled as I watched the little reunion.

About an hour later we were still waiting in the house. I sat on the couch wrapped in three blankets. Carl sat next to me, my head on his shoulder. Maggie had said we were adorable together. I just smiled, to tired to actually say anything. I raised my head slightly to glance at Carl and he kissed my forehead. I clutched his hand and looked out the window. "They're finally leaving" Daryl said. I looked up and saw that there wasn't as many walkers outside and that the rain had stopped. I sighed a breath of relief as I snuggled closer to Carl. Carol came and sat down next to me. "Sure you're ok sweetheart?" she asked me kindly. I nodded as I smiled drowsily at her. She squeezed my hand and kissed my forehead. "Try and get some sleep" she whispered as she retreated back to the kitchen. "Why don't you go and sleep in the room?" Rick asks me. "You deserve a good nights sleep" he said looking at me with concern, and then at his son who was now sleeping. "Ok, thanks" I say as I get up. Carl's eyes snap open and he lets go of my hand as he watched me walk down the hall. I open the bedroom door and walk in. I close the door behind me quietly. The bed was neatly made and I threw some of the extra pillows off of the bed. I crawl underneath the comforter and I close my eyes. I heard a knock on the door and I open my eyes slowly. "Come in" I say hoarsely from the bed. The door creaks open and Carl walks in. "Hey" I say as he walks over to the bed. He perches on the edge and pushes a strand of hair out of my face. "How are you actually doing?" He asks me, concern audible in his voice. I shrug my shoulders, "I felt kind kinda weird out there. Everyone was kinda staring at me...at us" I say slowly. He rests his hand on my stomach and leans forward. "They were probably staring at you because you're bloody gorgeous" he says sweetly. His blue eyes glittering in an adorable way. I take a deep breath as I stare at him. He kisses me and I kiss him back. I pull him towards me until he's practically laying on me. I pull away for a moment. "I love you" I whisper quietly. He closes his eyes for a moment. "Why?" he finally asks me. "What did I do to deserve you're love?" I wanna scream, he's just so cute and sweet! "Because, because you saw me, when I thought I was invisible. And to me that's pretty damn lovable." He smiles and kisses me again. I sit up and he moves off of me. "Will you sleep here tonight?" I ask him. He nods and moves to the other side of the bed. He removes his hat, which I still can't believe he has. He slips under the comforter and I rest my head on his warm chest. He wraps his hand around mine and rests his other hand on my waist. I sigh deeply and shut my eyes. "Goodnight Carl" I whisper. "Goodnight (Y/N), I love you."
