Luke's POV
I woke to find myself tangled up against Sanjay while Rue is snuggled up against me on the opposite side. I slip out from them both without waking them up. I slowly sit on the edge of the bed and look around the half lit room.
Its just coming up eight in the morning. I slowly head over to the bedroom door and slip out into the corridor.
I feel more refreshed then I did yesterday but my chin still has a slight ache to it, but it clear up soon enough. It always does.
I head up the stairs to the attic and enter. "Mr Smith K-9!" I say.
Mr Smith had never shut down last night. They must of been working into the early hours of the morning.
"Master Luke," says K-9.
"Have you managed to do what I asked?"
"Certainly Master Luke. We have!"
"Show it to me then," I smile.
Mr Smith lets out a small tray revealing a small bracelet.
"So will this protect him? Will this protect Rue?"
"It will conceal his identity, it will make him look like a normal human child," Mr Smith confirms.
"That's great! What age?" I ask curiously?"
"He will appear to be Sky's age," K-9 says.
"That could work. I mean for now schools almost over so we don't need to worry but if this becomes something permanent for now then he can join Sky. With Rani and Clyde off to university or college in September that might work," I smile as I sit down on the sofa.
"Have they talked to you much about that?" Mr Smith asks me.
"No. I mean I think Clyde is going college but Rani well its quite clear what she will do. I just haven't got around to asking her which university she got accepted into yet," I sigh suddenly feeling like a useless friend.
"Are you worried?" Lenny asks me inside my head.
"A bit. I mean with out Rani or Clyde around it will all feel like its almost over. I mean they have been there for so long. It will feel weird," I speak to Lenny inside my head.
"You can get through it. You have to be strong. Be strong as they were strong when you went off to university," says Lenny.
"I know."
The familiar found of the Tardis suddenly fills the attic until the police box appears a few inches away from me.
The Doctor steps out smiling, "Hey Lukey boy," he grins.
"I think if my mum could see you now she would get jealous. I mean I only saw you a couple days ago," I smile.
"So many things I do regret, Luke. Not popping back to see your mother, Sarah has always played on my mind. Even more so after her death," the Doctor says softly.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him.
"That is a very good question," smiles the Doctor.
"Its more the fact that you insisted we come here before we head off," says Amy pond from the Tardis.
"Come on!" Rory shouts.
"How about it Luke? I mean really how about it? One trip. You, Amy, Rory and I? Your mum would of killed me but you deserve a proper trip. I can bring you back to this point in time. It will seem like nothing happened," he smiles at me.
I look at the Doctor my mouth wide open, "But are you sure? I mean a lot is going on right now," I begin.
"Come on Luke. I would really like your company. Just one trip," he winks at me.
I look over to the attic door before I look back at the Doctor. I nod my head, "Okey I would like that. One trip then straight back to this point in time," I say as I get off the sofa and the Doctor puts his hand on my shoulder bringing me into the Tardis closing the door behind us.
"Where are we going?" I ask as I stop by the controls of the Tardis.
"That is a surprise Luke," smiles the Doctor.
"Oh no he has that look," says Rory who gives me a weird glance before looking at Amy.
"Oh its not that bad," laughs Amy.
Suddenly the Tardis goes into a fit of rage and starts to shake and fade in and out.
"What is going on!" shouts Rory.
"Minor malfunction," says the Doctor.
"Minor!" Amy says loudly.
"Something has locked onto the Tardis and is pulling us to it," the Doctor tells us.
"Does this happen often?" I ask.
"This Doctor seems a bit on the crazy side," says Lenny inside my head. I smile but don't say anything.
"It does happen on occasion. What are you smiling about?" the Doctor asks me, "Did Lenny say something?"
"No," I lie.
"Does he think bow-ties are cool?"
"Bow-ties? What is that?" asks Lenny.
I laugh, "He doesn't even know what a bow-tie is."
"Figures," says the Doctor.
The Tardis suddenly stops with a loud and shaky thud. I stumble at the sudden impact but manage to stay on my feet.
"You get use to it," says Amy as she heads towards the door.
"I never have!" says Rory.
"Yet," the Doctor smiles as he pats me on the shoulder.
"Hold on! Is it safe out there?" I ask.
"Probably not," says the Doctor.
"Then why are we rushing out there?"
"Because Luke that's what we do," the Doctor laughs as he pushes me towards the exit of the Tardis.
I shake my head but I follow Amy, Rory and the Doctor out the Tardis.
Why did I agree to this?
"Is this it? I was expecting...well more," sighs Amy.
"What more do you want. Fresh air, a forest and...hold on what is that," says the Doctor curiosity getting the better of him and we haven't even been here two minutes.
"Looks like a maze. One of those mazes you get at some theme parks or the maze in the harry potter films," Rory says quickly.
"Where are we?" I ask the Doctor.
"Not sure yet but only one way to find out. Come on to the Maze!" the Doctor says as he leads the way with Rory and Amy right behind him.
I sigh softly before I follow after them feeling like something isn't quite right.
NO POV
The two alert eyes watch as the tall, thin young boy followed after the older two men and a women. He couldn't help but study him. He hasn't seen a teenager in nearly two years.
What could this mean?
Does this mean there could be hope? Hope for a better future or will he fall like every other child that once lived here?
No child is welcome here even if they are nearly of age. He is still a teenager right now!
Joe keeps himself leaning against the tree crossbow in hand brown hair partly in his blue eyes and he is a set of muddy torn clothes. He takes a long breath before he decided to follow them keeping a watchful eye on the teenage boy. This could get interesting.
Sanjay's POV
I woke up with a start. I look frantically around the room and bed but only find Rue fast asleep. Where is Luke?
I get out the bed and stumble into the corridor. I search every inch of the house till the only place that is left is the attic. Why didn't I go there first? Idiot!
I reach the top of the stairs and yank open the door. I look around the attic but find only K-9 and Mr Smith.
"Where is Luke!" I demand. They must know something!
"He left," Mr Smith says.
"Left? Left where? With who!" I demand.
"With him of course," says Mr Smith.
"Who is him?" I ask.
"The Doctor!"
My mouth drops open, "He went with the Doctor...why would he," I say trailing off.
"The Doctor asked him to go with him for one trip. Just one," whispers K-9.
"But what if he gets a taste for that," I say panicking.
"He would never leave you, Sky, Rani, Clyde, Daniel, Jay or Rue behind. I am sure of that. Maybe he just needs this. Just this once," Mr Smith says.
"Well what do you know. You know nothing of emotion!" I snap.
Luke's POV
I feel like someone is watching us but I am not sure if I am just being paranoid or not. All I have known is this and being in a different time and place I feel so exposed. Most of the time I've been on Earth. At least I felt safe in a sense of being on my home planet but now...we may not even be on Earth.
"Doctor," I call after him.
He turns to face me, "What is wrong Luke?" he asks me.
"I'm not sure. Something feels wrong," I tell him the truth.
"Hmm...well alright we all better be on our guard just to be on the safe side," says the Doctor looking around as we approach the start of the maze.
"Why is it so quiet?" Rory asks.
"We could be on a planet that has no one on it," Amy suggests.
"No I don't think that is right," says The Doctor as we reach the entrance.
"Who wants to go first?" Rory asks.
The Doctor looks between us all. "I'll go its fine," I say as I step into the maze but nothing happens so I start to head through it with everyone following behind me.
"Where do you think it leads?" Rory says quickly asking the question we all were probably thinking.
Suddenly a loud sickening sound filled the air. I have to chuck my hands to ears to block some of it out. "Luke are you alright?" The Doctor asks.
"You can't hear that?" I say looking as confused as the Doctor looks.
"Hear what?" Rory asks confused.
"Doctor what is going on?" Amy asks.
"Lenny!" I call inside my head but I can't hear him. The sound is blocking out my communication with him.
The Doctor puts his hand on my shoulder, "Luke try calm down, try breath. Tell me what is going on."
"A loud sound, like humming but also a streaking sound. Its so loud," I say trying to get my words out through how deafening the sound is to me.
"What could be causing it and why only Luke?" Amy asks a very good question.
"I do not know," says the Doctor.
"No surprise," Rory retorts.
"Oi leave him alone," Amy snaps.
Suddenly out of no where a middle age man appears wearing tatty clothes and holding a crossbow. "If you want to live and don't want your friend here to disappear you will follow me right now!" he shouts stepping towards me.
"Leave him alone!" Rory shouts trying to protect me.
"I am only going to stop the sound," the man says softly.
"Let him!" the Doctor says.
The man puts his hand on my shoulder before he hands over a strange looking chip. "Its my last one," he says before he puts it on my hand. I let a small moan come out my mouth as I watch the chip slip under my skin.
The sound has stopped. Almost like it had never been. "Better?" the man raises his eyebrows up at me.
"Much better," I tell him.
"Oh Luke can you hear me now?" Lenny asks.
"I can. What was that?"
"I don't know Luke but that really scared me!" Lenny says in a concerned voice.
"Me too!"
"Follow me. I'll take you underground. Being in the maze is the worse place to be. The Maze is a test and you walked right into it. Why would you do such a thing with him," he says pointing at me.
"I have a name you know. What have I ever done?" I ask confused.
"Your a teenager," he says like that is suppose to mean something.
"So? I mean there is a loads of teenagers," I begin.
"Where have you been living kid? Under a rock?"
"What is going on here? I mean your acting like Luke is the only teenager here," says the Doctor confused.
"That is exactly what I am saying. Have you all been living under a rock? I mean come on. A teenager...you really don't know?"
"Know what?" I ask him really confused now.
"Your the first teenage boy I have seen in two years," he tells me.
My mouth drops open, "What?"
"How is that possible? I mean why would that be?" Amy now asks.
"We can talk more about this later. We need to get Luke to safety."
"What is your name?" the Doctor asks him.
"My name is Joe. Now follow me," he says as he leads off to the left.
"We better follow him," the Doctor nods to me.
I look at him before I follow off after Joe full of hundred different feelings and ideas. If I am the first teenager he has seen in two years...what is going on here?
