Kenya POV-
I went downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water so O could take his pain meds. He had went for a run this morning, and of course he pushed himself harder than he should have. He couldn't help it. It was the competitive nature in him. Always wanting to push himself further to his limits. And now his ass was in pain. 🙄
I told him in due time he would be back on the field. To let nature and God do his work, and not cheat the healing process. We had time. An entire year. The combine was underway now, so it's no way he would make it anyway. He wasn't physically ready. But O is O. 🙄
Scott was startled by me coming in and he dropped his pill holder, that looked like this.
It seemed like a thousand pills fell out.
"Sorry." I said trying to help him.
"No it's fine." He shooed me away, hurriedly trying to pick up the pills.
I had seen this medication before. Not personally, but in science books I read. Specifically my Med science books. My heart dropped.
"I guess now you don't want to touch anything in the house." He said.
"No I don't think like that. I know you can only get it from a transfer of bodily fluids."
He picked them all up and threw them away. "That's a weeks worth down the drain."
"How long have you had it?"
He paused for a second, not facing me.
"Since I was born." He finally spoke.
He went to the sink to wash his hands.
"My mother contracted it, from someone who wasn't my father. Passed it to me. And she couldn't deal with living HIV positive and having a child with the same disease so, she left. Ruining my life. And I haven't seen her since." He was still at the sink with his back toward me, and he wiped his eyes. I could tell he was tearing.
"You know my father left too. Abandoned me and my mother. And for so long, I thought he ruined my life. I had this seething hate in my heart for him. Because I just knew he ruined my life. I was convinced of it."
His back was still toward me.
"Then O asked me what did he ruin? He said here you are about to graduate top of your class at LSU. You're about to be Rhodes Scholar. You've won countless awards for your chemistry what exactly did he ruin."
He turned toward me with tears streaming down his eyes.
"She ruined nothing. If anything, she made you better. When you realize that, you'll be a lot better and happier."
He wiped his eyes and shook his head okay.
I got the bottled water and went upstairs.
"You're ruining my spring break with yo sick ass." I got his pills and brought the bottled water on the bed.
"What took you so long?" O asked me laying on the bed.
"What do you mean? You expect me to hurry to get back to you."
"When I'm in pain yeah."
"Who told your dumb ass to go running." I gave him his pill and handed him the water.
"You think this six pack your forehead be bobbing on, come free?"
I stale faced him. He was referring to me giving him head, for the slow folks who wouldn't get it. 😂😒
He smirked and took his pill.
"I should make you choke on that damn pill."
He swallowed it, then laughed.
"What we on today?" He asked.
"Dr. Thompsom is taking us to the Oxford campus. And then we're free to do what we want. You know tomorrow Jussie's coming."
"I know one thing Scott say the wrong thing today, I'm murking his white ass."
"Odell stop." I rolled my eyes and got under the covers.
"Why should I stop when that nigga was being disrespectful. Not only saying shit. But looking at you. You don't think I peep that shit?"
I sighed. "Odell you're being over-dramatic."
"I'm being over dramatic?"
"Yes. He said what he said yesterday, he apologized."
"He apologized to you."
"Either way, just drop it. This back and forth between y'all is petty and childish."
O looked at me. "I'm petty and childish? "
"Oh my God. I'm not doing this." I got up and got my clothes ready. Dr. T would be here soon. "Get up and get ready so we can go."
"No you enjoy." He laid back and got on his phone, scrolling.
"Odell." I put my hands on my hip.
"No you enjoy. I'm too petty and childish for Oxford. Hell maybe I'm too petty and childish to take a year out of my life to live with you here."
"What else would you being doing Odell?"
He shook his head. Like Okay I peeped you.
"I didn't mean it like that."
"You did. You wouldn't have said it if you didn't. Maybe if I had blue eyes, you wouldn't have said it."
"Oh my God." I rolled my eyes. He was completely and utterly out of control right now. "Why are you being so fucking sensitive? I have shown you in every possible way that you were a priority to me Odell and nobody could take your place. I don't understand why you're being so insecure."
There was a knock on the door.
"Miss Moore, Dr. Thompson said she's on her way." Frank said on the other side of the door.
"Okay. Thank you." I said toward the door.
I looked at Odell who had put his headphones in, blasting music.
I wasn't going to baby him, so I walked and told Brandon to get ready, then went back in and got ready myself.
