Sophomore Year

Kenya POV-

"Kenya are those men's clothes?" My mother looked at me folding clothes I just washed. Some were mine. Some were Odell's.

My mother was visiting me for the weekend. She finally got some time off of work and decided to come see me.

And her and Brandon together were a real trip. My mother was as crazy as he was. Maybe that's why I loved B so much. Him and my mom had the same fun personality.

They were in my room. I had moved from a two person dorm, to having a single room now. I signed up to be an RA, that was one of the perks. Along with them paying for my room and board.

"Yeah, Ma." I sighed. "My friend asked me if I could wash them, because he's always at practice."

"You ain't his damn maid."

"Ma, I know. I'm just helping him out."

"It's this future lil NFL player she been getting cozy with." Brandon instigated.

"So some guy on the football team got you doing his laundry like his little flunkie? You make his ass wash his own clothes. You are not his damn maid." My mother said getting angry.

"I tried to tell her Mama Morris. He changing her. Got her coming in at all hours of the night. Out here drinking. Smoking weed. Shameful. Just Shameful." He shook his head like an old church lady.

"Kenya I know that's not true. You came down here for school. NFL or LFN, you keep your head in them books. Don't let no boy take advantage of you."

"Ma, Brandon is lying." I threw a shirt at his head.

"Don't ever let no man get you off of them books you hear me?"

"Yeah, Ma." I was going to kill Brandon's lying ass.

"Cause if you fail outta school you ain't staying with me."

"You better tell her Mama Morris, cause she up here losing her damn mind over some future NFL checks. Trying to put that Carolina Panther on him so she can trap him. Got him sleeping in her bed." Brandon said like a gossiping old lady.

"You what?"' My mother said legit hysterical.

"Ma he is so lying." I laughed and pretended to choke Brandon. "That's him and his Thot ways." I playfully pushed him.

"He better be. Ain't no man that damn fine for you to be up her losing your mind over. And bring a baby back to Fayetteville and see what I do."

"Ma, I know. I am always focused no man is going to get me off track. Ever." I went back to folding me and O's clothes.

"Some boy got you folding clothes like you his damn house wife and you ain't even his girlfriend? Kenya." My mother shook her head disappointed.

"Ma it's not like that I promise. I volunteered because he didn't honestly know how to wash. He shrunk some of his clothes and called me in a panic. And I just was helping him out. He's not taking advantage of me. He's not in my brain or anything. I promise. You didn't raise me like that." I tried to get her to understand.
