Samantha's POV
"LETS GO WILDCATS!!" My friends and I scream, as the game signals to start. The announcers voice filled the stadium, as the fans and family members calmed down.
"HELLO LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!! WELCOME TO THE 5th ANNUAL BOYS NATIONAL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT!!" The man said, the crowd cheering.
"Today, we've got the Wildcats against the Sharks! It's going to a good game, so let's introduce the teams!" The other man said.
"Alllrrigghttt! First up, the team captain of the Wildcats, Cameeerrroon Daallaaas!!" We all cheered. Our seats were right up front, and I smiled as Cameron jumped in the air, waving to the crowd.
They introduced the others and then started introducing the Sharks. Their uniforms were black, making them seem dark and mysterious. I had to admit, it gave me a weird vibe.
I shrugged it off as the game started with full swing. It was close, pretty much tied the entire game.
Near the end, Cameron had hit a home run. I cheered him on as I saw him sprint the bases. Suddenly, I saw one of the Sharks, I'm pretty sure the team captain, hit Cameron in the back with a bat as he was about to go over the final base.
I gasped and stood up as I saw a full fledge fight break out in the field. I put my hands on the railing, but Shawn knew what I was doing.
"SAM!" He screamed, grabbing me and pulling me away from the railing. "You're not going out there! You're going to get hurt!"
I turned to face him, but life seemed to go into slow motion, Shawn's voice a distant buzz in my ear. I saw Grace's face go white as she stared out to the fight.
Suddenly, I bolted. I jumped the banister, life coming back to full speed. I heard Shawn's shouts from the distance as I dodged bats and fists.
The only thing that mattered was Cameron.
I finally got to him to see him lying on the dirt ground. Nobody was near him. I rushed over to him, my heart pounding.
He rolled over, his face bleeding where he must have scrapped it during the fall. "Oh Jesus." I said, looking at Cameron.
He smiled weakly. I heard screams get louder. "Come on." I said, helping him up and getting him far away from anyone else.
"I'm fine Sam, I-" I glared at him. "You're not fine." I said, taking the edge of my jersey and dabbing the scratch.
I sighed as I saw the blood leak through the jersey, leaving my hand bloody. I looked through the crowd, trying to spot someone who could help.
"SAM!" Shawn said, running over to us. Everyone else followed behind him, their faces white with fear.
"We gotta get out of here..." Grace said, looking around at the boys with bats. My head buzzed. I knew what was happening, then I didn't. I was zooming in and out of focus.
"Sam?" Shawn said, waving his hand in front of my face. I could sense it, but I didn't react. The only thing that was on my mind was one thing.
Get Cameron out.
I began to feel dizzy as I looked at Cameron. He studied my face, blood dripping of his jaw. I stood up, wobbling.
"Oh god." Shawn said, catching me from holding me back. "She doesn't look so good..." Grace said. I looked at Cameron.
"Sam?" Cameron asked, worry in his eyes. "Guys, I think she's gonna-" Emma said, but I never heard the last part as my body went limp and my vision went black.
Cameron's POV
"Shit!" Shawn said, as he caught Samantha. "Yup, she's gone. Fainted."
Nash announced. Emily smacked him up the head. "WHAT?!" He asked, rubbing the spot where Emily hit him.
"Way to point out the obvious." Grace said. "Man, that girls got some swing in her." Nash mummered.
Grace knelt down next to me. "Are you okay?" She asked, her eyes wet with tears. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Don't cry." I said, hating to see my twin sister like this.
"Lets get you up bud." Nash said, helping me up. Hayes grabbed my other side as Shawn carried Sam bridal style. "Okay," Grace said, cracking her knuckles. "Time to clear the path."
"Oh no you don't!" I said, watching her run away. "GRACE KELLY DALLAS!! GET YOUR BUTT BACK HERE!" I said, trying to pull away from Nash and Hayes.
"Woah, buddy." Shawn said, walking beside us. "Don't worry, your sisters got this. She's tough. And kind of cute to be honest." Shawn said, watching Grace push people aside.
"You stay away from my sister." I growled. He glared at me. "Stay away from mine and we've got a deal." I looked at Sam's face. Her features were relaxed, making her look like she was sleeping. Blood was on her face and hand, but it wasn't hers. It was mine.
"No promises." I stated. I heard Nash chuckle beside me. "So, Cameron." Emma said, looking at me. "Yes, darling?" I joked. Hayes then swatted me on the head.
"Back off. She's mine." Hayes glared. I chuckled. "Anyway," Emma said. "Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
I shook my head. "My back hurts, but it's not broken or anything. I'll just need to clean off this blood and take some serious pain killers." I said, looking around.
The stadium was havoc. Refs were pulling about each group one by one, while parents and children either ran, or sat there watching in horror.
"Only makes sense that Samantha was stupid enough to come down here." Nash said, looking around. Shawn and I glared at him. "She's not stupid." We said in unison.
We then continued to glare at each other.
We reached the exit of the field when Grace finally approached. "Okay, how the hell did you not get scratched?!" I asked, studying her.
"It's because I'm awesome." Grace stated. I scoffed. "You sure are something. Awesome, not it." Grace glared at me.
"Alright, alright." Emily said. "Enough glaring at each other. Let's get home. Cameron needs to rest and Sam, well, we just have to wait for her to wake up.
We all agreed and went home. I sat in the back with Shawn, Sam laying on top of us, her head on my lap. I studied her face and played with her hair as I sat thinking.
Well, more like worrying. Why did she faint? Probably stress or anxiety. Is she okay? On her face I saw a small bruise forming where she must have gotten hit. She had a few scratches, but other than that she was fine.
Even if I knew she'd be fine, I still worried. "Please wake up. Please." I mummered to myself over and over again. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
I turned to see Shawn. "She'll be fine, Cameron. I know my sister. She's tough." I smiled at him. "Why do you call her your sister? Like, I thought step siblings were supposed to hate each other." I asked, looking at Shawn.
Shawn laughed. "Sam's family now. Even if she's not blood related, she's my sister. And I never want to see her hurt. When my dad married her mom, I made that promise to myself. We were both only child's. I saw it as a chance. She's my sister. I love her." Shawn said, looking at Sam.
"It's like you and Grace. Twins are said to hate each other, but you guys don't. I know you fight, but so do Samantha and I." Shawn explained. I nodded.
"Oh, and don't get any bright ideas." Shawn said. "I'm watching you." I laughed.
"When has that ever stopped me before?"
