One morning,
Three days before my tenth birthday
I sneaked into my parents' bedroom.
I found a little box
With a brand new necklace inside.
I held it gently and couldn't help
But be in awe at the beauty of it.
I was so happy, I thought it was mine.
On my birthday I received gifts after gifts
But the little box never came.
And birthdays after birthdays
The little box still wouldn't come.
