Finally we finish packing the tents and start on the journey back to the Tribe. My senses are twice as alert as they were on the way here, not only my sense of smell, touch, sight and all the basics but almost what I would call a sixth scent that makes me twice as aware as to what my pack are doing and where they are.

I feel the surge of freedom seep into the link and turn my head automatically to watch Erin flittering and leaping around still in her beautiful, pure white wolf form. She flicks her tail in the air as she takes another graceful bound sending another surge of freedom and happiness into the link. Whether she’s doing it on purpose or it’s naturally happening I don’t know.

I have the urge to join her but the pack on my back won’t carry itself. Back at the Tarhbeish no one even questioned when Jordan picked up Erin’s pack along with his own and continued to walk without complaint. He’s definitely the one with the most brute strength and Erin wagged her tail when she saw in approval so I guess it doesn’t matter.

We continue back up the side of the gorge and into the normal forest that we know all so well. My ears prick slightly as a branch falls somewhere far to our right and a few animals are grazing nearby. We are walking at a fast pace and should be back within half an hour at the latest.

I wonder what the tribe will think of our change, will they even notice it? I mean for us it was hard to miss but for them it may not even be noticeable.

“Do you reckon that new guy still doesn’t realise Erin is the Alpha?” Jordan asks suddenly breaking the peaceful silence.

“Unless he’s thick, I’m pretty sure he’ll have figured it out by now.” Matt replies honestly

“Hey Erin,” Jordan calls out and her ears prick up.

< ‘Yeah?’ Erin replies happily.>

“Have you decided what lesson to give Luke?” I totally forgot about that, this is going to be good.

<’so many schemes, so little time…’ Erin replies playfully. >

“Have you got a solid plan yet?’ Mitch asks curiously.

<’Nope. But I want to make an entrance seeing as we are different now.’ >

“What did you have in mind?’ I ask curiously smiling over at Erin as she frolics just ahead of us. A mental image forms in my head of Erin’s idea of an entrance and I can’t help but grin.

<we’ have to ditch the packs here and come back for them tomorrow.’ >

I look over to where Erin is and notice she’s at the edge of the forest that leads to the main Tribe land. I watch as Erin trots up to Jordan who grins down at her as she noses him in the leg. They both walk behind a large clump of trees and a few seconds later Jordan comes back leaving Erin and her pack.  drop my pack on the large pile already formed by the others and then take my shoes and shirt off leaving them by my pack ready to change forms once Erin’s back.

“Were do you reckon everyone will be?” Seb asks while also dumping his stuff like I just did.

“Probably setting up for the Bon fire seeing as it’s already one and they’ll be expecting us back soon,” Matt replies, leaning against a tree with a smirk on his face.

“Good, that will make our job so much easier,” Erin’s voice rings out and I turn to watch her enter the clearing with a grin on her face. I take in what she’s wearing; her favourite pair of ripped black skinny jeans, a black tank top, an open black leather jacket and to finish it all off a pair of badass looking black combat boots. I let out a small growl at the overall amount of tight clothing, I don’t care how effective the look is she is not going to the Bon fire looking like that!

“Oh hush.” She laughs making her hair go cascading down her shoulders clearly displaying the out of place white lock of hair.

“Erin, is it really necessary?” I plead nodding to her choice of clothing.

“Yup.” She smirks, “Don’t worry it’s only the tribe and they know the rules.” Don’t worry my ass. Erin walks over to me and nuzzles her head into my neck comfortingly and I let out a noise of satisfaction. “Don’t worry.” She smiles looking up at me, her eyes gleaming.

“Fine, but if anyone lays a hand on you they are dead.” I growl getting a few growls of agreement from the others.

“Deal, if there’s anything left of them when I’m through.” She grins bashfully before turning to look at us all in turn, “Wolf time boys.”

I grin at her before running around the tree I was leaning on and quickly taking off my shorts before morphing into my wolf form. I quickly grab my shorts and rush to put them at the edge of the trees before rushing back to come face to face with the rest of the pack.

“Good, now let’s make us an entrance.” Erin grins using her Alpha voice just for the sake of it. We automatically form a ‘V’ with me on her right and Matt on her left with the others close behind.

< ‘That’s what she said.’ Mitch calls playfully in response to Erin’s comment.

’Dude that is soo old,’ Chase cries, mocking Mitch.

‘Honestly that didn’t even make sense.’ Calum laughs.

‘Guys we’re almost here. Erin calls in a ‘wake up’ tone. >

I take notice of where we are and realise we’re on the edge of the land leading into the housing area for the tribe. We all walk with our heads held high, flanking Erin. Suddenly the tribe houses come into view but there’s no one around. They’ll be out where we always have the Bon fire, near the edge of town.

“Let’s do this.” Erin calls out to us as we stride round the last beautiful house out into a large open clearing which has an unmistakable Bon fire being built in the middle of it. The whole tribe must be out here by the looks of it. Erin stops before going any further and takes a few calming breaths that pulse through the link making us all breath in sync.

< ‘Do not be afraid to show them what we’ve become.’ Erin tells us calmly. >

I begin to stride into the clearing flanking Erin on her right with the others close behind me. I can feel how each of our steps are in sync, each of our hearts beating as one – the way a real pack should. I watch with amusement as heads turn and gape at us as a whole lingering on the eight wolves finally staying hooked on Erin who is a sight not to mess with in her full black and her long hair billowing behind her.

I search the crowd for the O’Haras and find Luke gaping at Erin, if he didn’t realise who she was he certainly will have now. We come closer to the Bon fire and the whole tribe seems to stop what they’re doing and follow us. Erin steers us in the direction of our dad and Oliver who are gaping but with grins on their faces as we approach, right in front of the soon to be raging fire.

“Welcome home.” Our dad calls as we come within metres of him and stop automatically as one all bunching up out of our ‘V’ with Erin in the middle.

“Thank you father,” Erin nods seriously before grinning and letting him pull her into a bone crushing hug. Even with my own dad I feel uneasy watching her being held by someone who is not pack. I can feel the others unease as well but Erin sends calming vibes into the link and we all relax.

“Your pack mates are at unease when you touch your own father?” Oliver questions playfully. Erin turns to him with a smile before he pulls her in to a hug much like dad did. Again unease shoots through me.

“They are at unease if I am in any situation out of their control.” She laughs before looking proudly over at us making my heart swell instantly.

“How come?” dad asks demandingly making me let out a small, quiet growl. The Alpha must be treated with respect. What the heck was that?

Erin laughs once again smiling down at me, “We found a whole new meaning for ‘badass”

“ERIN!” a yell comes from behind us and I turn around to see; Jay, Lucas, Rick, Benjamin and a few other guys rushing over with grins on their faces. Another flood of unease spreads through me and I know the others feel it to. I no longer trust them like I did before, especially Ben who I didn’t even know before we left. Sure, they’re my friends but they have no proven themselves trust worthy.

Erin takes a step back so she is in the middle of us, with at least one of us on every side. She smiles as they approach but makes no moves to become closer to them. Confusion flashes across their faces as they come to stand beside Dad and Oliver. I let out a warning growl, echoed by the rest of the pack as they move to get closer. Shock flashes across everyone’s faces around us, followed by hurt.

“Erin, what is the meaning of this?” Dad asks shocked at our behaviour. I look up at Erin who takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and then opening them again. I feel a warm hand touch my head reassuringly and find Erin looking down at me briefly before continuing to do the same with the others before stepping out of our circle and standing to face the council who are now all gathered around dad.

“My pack and I have gone through a change these past few days. We have become what our ancestors once were. We are werewolves, not humans who become wolves like we have been acting for generations. We are still the same people but our instincts are telling us not to trust you all automatically. Putting it simple we are now incredibly badass and awesome instead of just badass and awesome.”
