I met with your girlfriend today.
We sipped coffee
And talked about the beginning
Of y'all's love story.

She talked about marriage.
She's thinking about it
Only a month in.
And she's scared of your parents.
I remember that.
I was too.

How odd how the seasons change.

How good.

How incredibly and unbelievably believable is it
That I'm happy for you?
And I mean it.

You'll be a good match.
I agree with her.
I hope you get married too.

I deleted the last of your texts and photos today.
I think I only have 39 left of you in my phone,
Mostly group photos at this point.
I didn't want to remove you entirely.
You didn't wrong me.
There's no reason to forget
The part you played in my life.
But it felt good
In a broken, lovely, closing sort of way
To delete the last of "us"
From my camera roll.

Because there isn't an us.
There hasn't been in years.

There's a y'all now.
And a new me
And a new me and him now.

How exciting.

We've finally moved on.

It turns out,
The saying was true,
Time really does heal all wounds.
And I'm happy for you.

I hope you get married.
I hope you're happy.
I hope she loves you
And you love her
And you both love the Lord.

Cheers to the end that was
And the beginnings that are becoming.
