The window is shattered as Y/n, Simmons and Rookie climb over the window and into a store where they search around for any foods or supplies for them to use and after a while they found a few cans of foods, water bottles at the back and medical supplies.
They sat by the counter drinking the water while the discuss the situation they are in.
Y/n: Okay here's what we know. We are stuck here on this abandon city with no communication of any UNSC or anyone. We got separated from our teams. We're at the heart of the Covenant territory and we have not much ammo or supplies to survive. Anything I forgot.
Simmons: This may not seem to be important but there is also no elites around the city even though we seen a lot during the battle.
Y/n: That's true. Any ideas what happened to them?
The Rookie just shrugged while Simmons raised his hand for a idea.
Simmons: Well I believe most elites were killed when that Covenant ship jumped into slip space. It may have resulted to some radiation poisoning.
Y/n: Maybe but how can the grunts, brutes and other Covenant forces survive?
Simmons: Obviously they are the second wave of Covenant forces.
Y/n: Then why haven't we encounter a second wave od elites yet?
Simmons:.......yeah I'm out of ideas.
Watcher: For once Simmons has no idea.
Simmons: Come on its not like you can think of a possibility on what's going on.
Watcher: Well I didn't figure out why we haven't encounter any elites but I did find something else. I detected a UNSC singal not far from here. The interesting part is that this one is from ONI.
Y/n: Huh well that sounds good to hear.
Watcher: Hear a sense of sarcasm there.
Y/n: Not a fan of ONI.
Watcher: Can't blame you. But we should go there and investigate it.
Y/n: Right. Break time over boys, let's start walking.
And so they begin walking as they walk through the streets of New Mombasa. They try to make things quiet as possible so they won't be spotted by Covenant forces. They dodge Phantoms flying over head, sneak by Covenant camps and took out Covenant patrol parties blocking their way.
After a while of walking they come across a building which they head inside and they climb up the steps and soon they reach a floor as they walk inside and Watcher said.
Watcher: Odd. It says the singal is here but there is nothing.
Rookie pokes on Y/n's shoulder which he turn to him qnd turn to where the singal is coming from. They see a broken helmet stuck on a TV screen as Y/n walks over and pulled it out.
Simmons: That a recon helmet but who owns this helmet?
Y/n sees a name on the forhead of the helmet name "Dare." Watcher pulls up the files and then finds it.
Watcher: Got it. Her full name is Veronica Dare. She's in ONI sector one and she took command of Alpha nine which is where Rookie is from. The original commander of Alpha nine is lead by Gunney Sargent Edward Buck. Interesting....he and his team survive the battle of Reach.
Y/n: We don't need the full history here Watcher.
Simmons: You think she's dead?
Y/n: Not too sure. There is a possibility she could have survived but right now we need to move before.
Then they heard something at the other room which they quickly draw their weapons at the room. Rookie and Y/n slowly move up and get up to the door. Watcher with the singal opens the door and they walked inside and search around.
It wasn't long for someone to attack Y/n with a frying pan. They quickly turn and were about to shoot but to their surprise sees Donut wielding a frying pan.
Y/n: Donut?!
Donut: Y/n? Oh hey Y/n! Nice to see you. I thought you'll be dead.
Y/n: Nope I survived. Simmons you can come in now.
Simmons walk in ans is surprised to see Donut so when they ask him what happens Donut tells them.
Donut: Well I woke up all alone and that's when i realised I got separated from you guys. So I decided to look for you but only to get attack by some Hunters, Brutes, Jackal snipers and grunts with those stinky grenades. You know, the ones that stuck onto my helmet a long time ago. Ah good times.
Simmons: Donut do you know where Sarge and the others are?
Donut: No I haven't.
Y/n: Well good to see you alive.....again. I mean seriously how do you survive everything?
Donut: No clue.
Then they heard something that sounded like vehicles so they look out of the window and to their surprise sees New Mombasa police arriving in front of the building and entering inside.
Y/n: (surprised) New Momo police force?
Donut: Yeah we're saved!
Simmons: Thank god we're saved.
They make their way down the steps while the Rookie wasn't sure why but he had a bad feeling about this. He catch up to them as they walk through the wall way of the first floor and before they can go to the main hall the door I front of them suddenly closed.
Y/n: (surprised) What the?!
Superintendent: Warning! Warning! All strangers are dangerous! Warning! Warning!
Simmons: Strangers? But they are New Mombasa police forces. They're the good guys.
Donut: Maybe the ai is broken.
Y/n: Or maybe its telling us something.
Then they heard something at the other side which Y/n slowly walks over and place his ear onto the door and all he can hear is a beep which he immediately moves back and pushes everyone back as the door blows up.
New Mombasa police swat begin to fire at them which they immediately took over as bullets fly by them.
Simmons: Why are they shooting at us!
Donut: Maybe they think we're Covenant!
Donut came out of cover and called out.
Donut: Hey we're not aliens! We're humans like youse!
Rookie tackle Donut to cover as bullets fly by. With no choice Y/n fire his carbin at them follow by Simmons and the Rookie. They keep shooting until everything became silent.
They stoo firing and they make their way over and see the dead New Mombasa swat police as they stood over them with confusion in their minds.
Simmons: Why did they attack us?
Donut: No idea. You think they gave up and start working for the Covenant?
Y/n: I don't think so.
Y/n kneel down on one of the bodies and took off his helmet. He pulls out a chip within the swat troopers helmet and insert it into his own and reads through their mission objectives.
Y/n: Okay this is getting strange. It says they are ordered to kill anyone who knows or trying to discover the location of the Superintendent.
Watcher: Why would they be so protective over a city AI?
Y/n: Well they are definitely not part of ONI. Whoever they are I afraid we can't trust no one.
Simmons: What about Sarge and the others?
Y/n: People we know we can trust but to some that we don't know could be our enemy.
Simmons: You know it's strange. The Superintendent that block the door was trying to warn us. Even though my city AIs don't do that. They are classified as dumb AI. You think this one isn't?
Y/n: Maybe. I never encounter a city AI who can do that. But it seems we have an angel looking after us.
Donut: Yeah that's good.
Simmons: So what now? We just keep going?
Y/n: Looks like it. We still need to find Sarge and the others and get off this city. Is having a feeling that mornings weather is going involve the Covenant ships glassing this city.
Simmons: (scared) Just like Reach?!
Donut: Well that doesn't sound so bad.
Simmons: Have you forgotten glassing means us being turned into ashes!
Donut: Oh right.
Then the Rookie sees something and gets everyone's attention. They turn and they see a screen above them that shows them a drop pod just outside.
They make their way over there and they investigated the pod. It turns out this is Dares pod and there is no sign of where she go and any clues.
Simmons: Now you think she might be dead?
Y/n looks inside the pod and finds something inside the pod. He pulls it out and finds a data pad which he gets access and sees a set of coordinates.
Y/n: Watcher.
Watcher: Looks like a set of coordinates to ONI research facilities and buildings. There is one far but that could be where she went. It's called Alpha site ans it says it holds viable information.
Y/n: Make sense. Sense now the Covenant has taking over this city she and any other UNSC of ONI personal survivors might be defending it to keep it away from the Covenant.
Simmons: Maybe Sarge and the rest are there.
Watcher: That's true. After all the base is in the middle of a large lake and the only way to enter is by a bridge. They might be using it as a hold out camp for survivors.
Donut: That sounds like a safe place to be.
Simmons: Yeah can't wait to leave this nightmare like place and go somewhere safe.
Y/n: Yeah and your team might also be there Rook.
Rookie just nodes which really convinced Y/n who quiet he is. With that they begin their walk to Alpha site and hopefully find any of theie friends there and relax for the rest of the night.
(Sometime later)
They walk through a tunnel that leafs them to Alpha site as once at the other side Watcher hacks into the door controls and soon the doors open and they begin walking up to the surface.
Y/n: Any contact to anyone Watcher?
Watcher: The coms are sorta coming back but no such luck. You think the rest are okay?
Y/n:.....I hope so.
When they reach the surface they suspected Alpha site being high defended but when they see it they are shocked to see not only the bridge is destroyed but also Alpha site itself is destroyed as well.
Simmons: (shocked) No......they.....they have to be alive.....right?
Y/n turn to see one of destroyed Wraths with a large hole on the middle meaning the Covenant was attacking Alpha site meaning it would be impossible for them to escape.
Simmons sees this and collapses onto his knees while Donut says.
Donut: Maybe they were not here. Maybe they are still out there in the city?
Y/n: Yeah Donut is right. We should keep on looking and never give up.
Simmons: Your right. I just hope Sarge and the others are okay.
Rookie then turn and see something so he walk over, kneel down and remove some rubble which Y/n, Simmons and Donut walk over to him.
Y/n: Found something?
He then pulled out a helmet and show it to them which Simmons and Donut said.
Simmons: It's just a helmet.
Donut: Yeah although it looks familiar.
Y/n: Wait a minute.
He takes the helmet and turn it only to see wires and computer devices as he gets shocked and says.
Y/n: (shocked) This isn't a normal helmet! It's a head! This is Lopez!
Simmons and Donut: (shocked) He is?!
They stare at Lopez head in shock and seeing that he isn't waking up to greet them.
Donut:.......So does anyone know how to fix him? If not....well this might be a problem.
