It had been a month since I last talked to Craig. Most of the time, he didn't even bother to show up to class. I had asked Wendy about it, and she told me that he used to skip class all of the time. However, even if he did go to school, he usually got sent out for being rude, or causing trouble, or sleeping.
It worried me. I was doing fine on my own, but I couldn't help but have that soft spot for Craig. I knew I wasn't over him, but it was easier to tell people that I was instead of getting all the sympathetic looks from everyone. But it also brought up the problem of Wendy harassing me about a prom date, and I was quite over the entire situation.
"I don't see why you don't just ask someone," Wendy nagged.
"There isn't anyone that I really want to go with...I honestly don't even want to go," I admitted.
"You're going," Wendy decided. "You could ask Kyle."
"After what happened between him and Craig, I'm okay," I let out an ironic laugh. "I think he and Red are going anyways."
"You could go with Kenney. We can take super cute pictures at Stans," Wendy suggested.
"And be groped all night?" I laughed. "I don't want to go with someone when they are just going to try have sex all night. I want to have a good night."
"You have a point, but there has to be somebody..." she pondered.
"I'll figure something out." I shrugged.
"Oh my god, you can bring (ex)!" she suggested.
I couldn't help but stare at her from the stupidity that just left her mouth. "You want me to bring my ex-boyfriend to prom...because I don't see anything going wrong with that one."
"Why? Do you think Craig is going?" she asked me.
"I'm pretty sure that he is going with Lola," I replied.
"Oh, I did hear something that she couldn't get a date. I wonder how she got Craig to agree..." Wendy commented.
"Not my business," I simply replied.
"God, you are such a bore sometimes," Wendy rolled her eyes.
I ignored her comment as we kept walking down the hall.
"Oh, there's Stan. I'll see you late," Wendy said before walking off.
As she walked away, I went to my locker to get my books for the morning classes, but just as I had all of my things, I collided with someone, dropping everything.
"Oh hamburgers! I'm sorry, (Y/N)," Butters apologized, helping me pick up my books.
"It's alright, Butters," I giggled. He was just too adorable. "Do you want to walk to class with me?"
"Oh, would I! I was actually looking for you," he said.
"Why's that?" I asked.
"Well, I have something important to ask you." He shuffled uncomfortably.
"Okay, go for it," I encouraged.
"Well...I wanted to know if you would go to prom with me..." he asked, kicking some invisible dirt with his foot.
Prom? With Butters? I guess it wouldn't be so bad- but I don't want him to think that I like him-
"As friends," he continued, interrupting my thoughts. "Don't get me wrong. I think you are pretty, but Sally Darson is the only person to hold my heart."
Sally Darson? She has a bit of a reputation in this school.
I looked at his beaming smile as he went on about her. I couldn't ruin that for him.
"Why don't you just ask him?" I questioned.
"Well, she's already got a date, so I thought you would be pretty enough to make her jealous," Butters admitted.
"So, you're using me?" I asked, stifling a giggle.
Butters gave me a hesitant nod.
He's better than no date, and he's just too adorable to say no to. Plus, it'll get Wendy off my back.
"Okay, I'll go with you." I smiled.
"Really?! Who Hoo!" he cheered.
I guess it's time to start dress shopping.
