I unfurl the parchment in my hand. Lunch? It read. I crumple the small sheet of paper back up in my tiny fist.
What was Draco doing in there- taking a shower?
I mess with the collar of my shirt for awhile. Boys come in and out of the boys bathrooms but never Draco. Finally everything is still. I weigh my options, walking in there can't be too bad, right? No, that's rude I can wait a few more minutes anyway.
There is a loud pop like a pipe exploding.
"What the hell?" I say aloud. "Draco?"
There is no reply. Okay, now fate is just asking me to stroll into the boys bathroom.
The only sound I can hear is my stomach growling. "Seriously, hurry up." My voice echoes off the walls.
There is another loud noise but this one sends a cloud of dust out from under the bathroom door.
I get on my knees and scrape the debris away so I can see through the crack at the bottom of the door. What was going on in there? Red lights flash before my eyes. Spells bounce over every crevice and swing open bathroom stall doors. One hits a toilet and water spurts up into the air. I am knocked backwards as porcelain hits the door. I cough and roll to my side before getting up. I use a stone on the wall to push me up.
As I push open the door I hear a guttural yell. "SECTUMSEMPRA!"
When my vision clears I see a dark haired boy hovering over a scarlet pool. As I step forward I see a finger twitching as the overflowing water puddles around it.
"Wha-" I begin to say as my mind starts piecing be together what is happening. Draco's body has been cut upon as though by a sword and his pale face is covered in his very own blood.
I rush forward with panicked breaths.
"Adria I-" Harry starts.
"Get off him!" I let out a feral scream and weakly push Harry away. I try to clamp my hands on his wounds but in retaliation they just keep emitting more blood.
"Adria he-" Harry try again.
"I said go away!" I start to sob because I know that this amount of damage can only be deadly.
"Help!" I scream. My whole arm is now soaked in scarlet. "Help!" I don't even recognize my own voice as it breaks.
I look down at Draco's face. He is staring at the arched ceiling as if he doesn't see me.
"It's going to be okay." I put one bloody hand against his face. "You'll be okay." I cannot tell if I am trying to convince him or me at this point. I press my ear to his chest as hurried footsteps echo against the bathroom walls. My skirt is soaked in a mixture of toilet water and Draco's blood.
"It will be okay." I whimper as my body is lifted off his. "No!" I spit. "Get off me!"
But I see Snape standing over Draco. "Get out." He orders. I can feel Harry dragging me by my hand out of the bathroom. As soon as we enter the hallway my fists began to beat against his chest.
"What is wrong with you!"
Harry grabs my hands and keeps them away from him.
"Adria, I had to. You just don't understand!" Harry backs away from me.
"No, you don't understand! You have no idea who to even fight. You have no idea what good or bad is." I hiss.
"Adria, I'm trying to protect people."
"What a wonderful friend." I lace my words with ice as I try yet again to enter the bathroom.
