〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

Osoro Shidesu was only six when she was put into Foster Care. Her father was an alcoholic who ended up getting put in jail for embezzling; while her mother was dead.
She stayed in Foster Care for a long time.

Today was her 11th Birthday and not a single person wished her Happy Birthday. In fact, the staff seemed a lot meaner. As well as the other children who often bullied Osoro.

She was a fragile child who was too shy to make friends. Other foster children noticed that and saw her as weak and started to harass her for it.

〰︎〰︎〰︎

Osoro didn't receive a gift from anyone. So, she made herself a gift. It was a little cake. It took a lot of begging for the staff to let her go into the kitchen and make a cake but she was a good child who never did any wrong. Osoro had always loved cooking. Something about it just made her feel a lot better.

Osoro happily rushed outside with a plate of cake. There was a special spot under a tree that she always liked to spend her time in. But while on her way to her special quiet place, a girl stuck her foot out and purposefully tripped the blonde haired girl.

Osoro fell onto the hard, concrete ground as the other kids laughed. Two boys and three girls. Osoro looked up and horror filled her when she saw her cake was destroyed. The cake she worked so hard on. Without thinking, Osoro reached out to the cake but a boy stomped on it, only rubbing salt onto Osoro's wound. "I heard Nao say you thought you were gonna be rich when you grow up." The boy said. He had his hands on his hips and was smirking at Osoro.

My cake.. I worked hard on that..

Almost immediately, she started to cry. Her eyes watered and tears felt obligated to arrive. The kids started laughing at her and Osoro let out a yelp when she felt one of the girl's pull on her short, blonde hair. "I'd be surprised if you even got a box to live in. You're so such a weak crybaby. Nobody will ever like you." Another girl pulled out a pair of scissors and got closer to Osoro.

"No wait!" She cried louder and tried to get away but the first girl gripped even tighter on her hair. One boy and one girl grabbed Osoro's wrist to prevent her from fighting back while the girl with the scissors grabbed Osoro's clothes and started to cut them. Osoro was crying as loud as she could while the other kids just laughed in her face. "Should I cut her hair too?" The girl asked her friends. They all agreed that she should and the girl who was holding onto Osoro's hair moved aside. But before the girl could cut Osoro's hair, a voice called out, "The fuck are you doing?"

They all turned to see a girl with long h/c hair that went to her hips. She also had sharp e/c eyes that glared into the bullies. And if looks could kill then this girl could be a serial killer.
"Hey, isn't that the new girl?" The girl with the scissors asked the lead boy. He shrugged and called out, "What do you want?" The boy crossed his arms. The girl walked over to the boy and stood there, staring him down. The boy wasn't intimated at all. This girl was shorter than him. She looked over at all the other children surrounding and grabbing onto the crying girl and then looked back to the boy.

Suddenly, she grabbed him by the neck and slid her legs under the boy's feet to trip him. She slammed him into the ground, still holding onto his neck and from her pocket she pulled out a box cutter. She held it over the boy's eye and grinned, "You've got really pretty eyes. I could get about $1,500 each." She told him. The boy was terrified and didn't dare move an inch in fear of what she'd do to him. None of his friends helped him either. They just watched with wide eyes. She shrugged, "You don't need both of them, do you?" She touched the skin of his cheek gently with the sharp point of the box cutter. She gently trailed it down to his neck. "If you move. I'll kill you." She threatened him before getting up. She turned to the other children who flinched and let Osoro go. She held out her hand to the girl holding the scissors. The girl held her scissors close to her, not wanting to give them away but when she looked into the h/c haired girl's eyes, fear spread through her. This girl did not care for the bully's life or even her own. She was really going to kill her.
The bully held out the scissors and as the girl reached for them, she suddenly got angry and threw them as hard at she could.

But seconds after she did, a scream echoed. Those scissors hit Osoro right in the face. Leaving an X shaped, bloody wound on her cheek.

...

The bully laid on the ground. Bloody and bruised. Large chunks of her hair either pulled out or cut off. She looked back to the group, "Snitches get stitches." She vaguely threatened before walking away. Once she was gone, the bullies started crying and trying to help their friend. Osoro just stood there, her hand holding onto her face but she couldn't feel the pain any longer.

Who was that girl?

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

Three days later, Osoro was coming back to the Foster Center after school. She had a bandage over her cheek from where she was cut by the scissors. The bullies never told on that girl and the girl bully was sent to the hospital. Osoro felt.. Odd about it. She didn't feel bad for the bully but instead, felt admiration for the girl who saved her. Even if she was left with a nasty cut on her face.
Osoro's heart raced at the thought of that girl. She was so tough and took on her bullies easily. Osoro wished she could've been like that.

"Crybaby!"

Osoro flinched and looked over to see some kids from her school. And of course, she'd prove them right by immediately crying. A bad habit she had. She was sensitive and her feelings were easily hurt. The kids started laughing at her and she ran away. She ran past a building, not noticing that girl leaning behind the corner of the wall, listening and watching the whole thing.

〰︎〰︎〰︎

Osoro stopped running to rub her eyes, unable to hold in her sobs and trembled breathing.

Why do they all hate me?

Osoro felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around with teary eyes to see that girl from before. "Why are you crying?" The girl cocked a brow. Osoro tried to explain but nothing could get out. "I-I-.. The-They-.." She continued to cry and rub her eyes.

"Tch. Crybaby." The girl's eyes narrowed and she glowered at Osoro. That made the blonde's heart shatter and she began to cry even more. The girl just stared at her before saying, "If you keep crying then they'll just pick on you even more." The girl said bluntly. It was almost as if she didn't care but if she didn't care then why was she even talking to Osoro.

Such a drag...

The girl couldn't help but think that. She was under no obligation to help this girl. But she couldn't help but be bothered.
The girl rolled her eyes and grabbed Osoro's wrist so she could tear her hands away from her eyes. Osoro looked up at the girl. Their expressions were nothing but different. While Osoro was sobbing with red, puffy eyes and a pitiful face, the girl was only staring at her with an emotionless look. She was staring into Osoro's soul. "I'm going to teach you to stand up for yourself." Osoro sniffled and rubbed her eyes, "You will?"

"Yeah. Oh and by the way, I'm Y/n."

"My n-name is Osoro..."

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

The two of them stood in a park by a lake.

"Pretend I'm a bully. Instead of crying, I want you to hit me." Y/n ordered. She figured that if Osoro is such a crybaby then the smallest insult would make her cry. So, the goal to toughen her up and make her less emotional while also bringing out her inner aggression. Once Y/n was finished with Osoro, she'll be able to take out whole groups of people easily. Nobody will ever bully her again.

"Okay.." Osoro nodded. Even the way she was standing was pitiful. The tips of her feet were crossed and her knees were touching. She also hand her handa clasped together and over her chest. Just looking at her anyone could tell that she was a softie. That's probably why she gets bullied so much.

"You're a pitiful loser. You're ugly and your parents probably didn't want you. That's why you're here right?" Y/n started out strong. And as expected, Osoro's eyes started to she'd tears. But Y/n kept going, "You're not good enough. The average person could best you in anything."

"That's.. Not true.." Osoro muttered. Y/n grinned and tilted her head up so she could look down on Osoro. "You're immature, irresponsible, insipid, fatuous, vacuous, cowardly, pusillanimous, and so on. Oh you probably don't understand any of those words. Let me break it down. You're a weak and stupid pussy." She laughed. Osoro just started at her with wide eyes. She knows Y/n doesn't mean it but it hurts nonetheless.

But.. Shes right.. I am a coward.. And I'm weak..

Y/n rolled her eyes.

Come on, brat. Defend yourself.

"You built like Bobby Hill and Ursula had a kid and that kid had a kid with Barney and that kid had down syndrome. I bet even your daddy don't want you." Osoro's heart dropped. She momentarily forgot the situation and it was as if her vision turned red. Her mind went blank and she suddenly shouted, "And who the fuck are you?! You're here too! Where's your dad?!" Osoro covered her mouth and looked at Y/n with terrified eyes. But her expression didn't change..

No. Her expression did change. Very slightly. Her sharp e/c eyes looked dull. It made Osoro think that she struck a cord with Y/n.

But then Y/n grinned and crossed her arms, "Tch. Nobody will ever love you. You can't get anything right and you're worthless." Y/n paused for a moment when she noticed something. A necklace on Osoro's neck. A locket. She grinned mischievously as a terrible idea came to mind.

Y/n snatched the necklace off Osoro and opened it. It was a picture of a couple. Probably her parents. "Y/n wait! Please give that back!" Osoro begged her. Y/n closed the locket and began to toss it in the air, catching it each time but making Osoro nervous. "Nah. I think I'll keep it. Unless you do something about it~." Y/n palmed Osoro's chest and knocked her over.

"Give it back!"

"Or what?" Y/n asked, trying to get Osoro to at least do something. But instead, she started to cry again. Y/n put the necklace in her pocket.

Oh for the love of God.

That's when Y/n noticed the lake. She smirked and turned to Osoro, "Well it looks like you don't want it. I guess I can just do this then." Y/n pulled the necklace from her pocket and tossed it into the lake.

"NO!" Osoro screamed but it was too late. She'd never get that locket back.

Y/n chuckled and looked back to Osoro but before she could even process anything, Osoro punched her right in the face. Y/n fell onto the grass and looked up to see Osoro towering over her. Her eyes full of hatred. The blonde grittered teeth and tightened her fists, "You're a horrible person! The world would be a better place if people like you were dead!" She shouted before running off. Y/n just sat there, dumbfounded.

Wow. I didn't expect her to snap so soon.

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

Osoro didn't return to the Foster Care center. So, Y/n went looking for her and after two hours Y/n found her at a playground, hiding in one of the tubes.
She only found her there because Osoro left her shoes off in front of it. Y/n entered the tube and found Osoro sitting silently with her face buried into her knees. Y/n took a seat next to her and heard Osoro mumble, "I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing?" Y/n asked. Her tone was strong. It made Osoro wonder.

Why doesn't she sound mad at me? Why isn't she yelling at me? She sounds so blunt..

"I.. Hit you."

"I hurt you."

Osoro looked up at her. Y/n didn't even look mad. She had a large bruise under her eye but didn't even seemed bothered by it. "What?"

"You shouldn't have to apologize to me. Or anyone. Especially if they hurt you first." Y/n explained. Osoro didn't say anything and just looked away. Y/n sighed and reached into her pocket. She pulled out Osoro's locket and handed it to her. When Osoro saw it, her eyes went wide and she felt her eyes water. "How did you-?"

"I never threw it. I threw a rock."

"You had a rock in your pocket?" Osoro questioned. Y/n shrugged and explained, "You never know when you need one. If someone tried to fight you then you could just reach into your pocket and shout POCKET ROCKS! And throw it at them." Y/n laughed. Osoro couldn't help but laugh along with Osoro. She grabbed it but noticed the chain was broken. "Sorry about the chain.." Y/n said but Osoro just smiled weakly and said, "It's okay."

Y/n looked forward, "What I said to you.. I didn't mean it. Honestly, I was just talking about myself." Y/n explained. Osoro frowned and closed her hand, covering her locket. "I don't think you're ugly or worthless. I think you've been through a lot and you're hurting.."

"You don't know me."

"Am I wrong?" Osoro asked. Y/n didn't say anything. "How did it feel when you hit me?" She asked. Osoro was caught off guard by the question but gave it some thought.

"Honestly.. It felt good.. It was like I got so much emotion off my shoulders.. But then I felt really bad.." Osoro fittled with her locket. Guilt was written all over her face. Y/n exhaled, "Don't feel bad. I deserved it. Don't ever feel bad for this, okay? You need to be tough. Also that hit really didn't hurt."

Osoro and Y/n looked at one another. Their eyes met and for a moment, they just stared at one another. "Osoro."

"Yes?"

"I want to train you."

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

For the next three weeks, Y/n trained Osoro relentlessly. Both physically and emotionally. And it was working out well. Everyday the two would go to the park and Y/n would beat Osoro's ass. She started off going easy until Osoro got better. Osoro was a quick learner so it didn't take long for the two to fight each other at full strength. And as Y/n trained Osoro to be stronger, the two got really close. Inseparable. They become best friends.

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

"Osoro? What are you doing here?" Y/n asked. Y/n found Osoro standing at the lake. By this point it was their hangout place.
Osoro was staring at her locket. The chain was still broken but she always kept it on her.

"I don't think my parents loved me." Osoro suddenly mumbled. That didn't surprise Y/n too much. Osoro was in Foster Care after all. "Why do you say that?" Y/n curiously asked. Osoro's brows furrowed and she glared at the opened locket. "My dad abandoned me here. He chose money and addiction over me. How could a parent do that?" Her eyes watered but her expression didn't waver.

Y/n understood Osoro. After all, Y/n was in Foster Care too. So, Y/n gave Osoro the only advice she could.

"You need to let them go."

Osoro sighed and her arm dropped to her side. "I know." She whispered. A moment of silence went by before the blonde gritted her teeth and chucked the locket into the lake. Y/n was shocked. That wasn't something she expected Osoro to do. But she was also proud of her.
Letting go can be hard. It can take months and even years to let go.

"I don't need them." Osoro declared in a hushed voice.

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

One day, the two were sitting on the school rooftop. Osoro was going to finally remove the bandage on her cheek. Well, Y/n was going to do it.
Y/n ripped off the bandage. "Ow!" Osoro shouted. Y/n rolled her eyes and said, "Stop being a baby." And checked out the wound.

"Oop-."

"What?!" Osoro gave Y/n a worried look. Y/n pulled out her phone and turned on her camera. She turned it on selfie mode and gave it to Osoro. Her heart dropped when she noticied the large, X shaped scar on her face. "OH MY GOD! IT'S SO UGLY!" She shouted, and yet again, her eyes started to form tears. Y/n raised a brow, "The fuck you mean?! That scar looks so badass! I'm jealous." Y/n almost looked excited. Giving her a large, innocent smile. "You're just saying that to make me feel better.." Osoro muttered. She looked away from Y/n and started off in the distance, trying to hold back her tears.

Everyone will just make fun of me even more. Nobody will love me with this ugly scar..

Osoro was torn from her thoughts whe she heard Y/n let out a hiss. Whe she turned to her friend, she was absolutely shocked to see Y/n carve and X shaped wound on her chest. Blood immediately began to flood from the wound and stain her clothes.

"Y/n! What are you doing?!" Osoro covered her mouth in horror. Y/n managed to smile despite the pain, "Twinsies..."

"You can't just-!" Osoro was cut off by Y/n, "I would've done it to my face but I'm a little too scared to cut into my face.. I hope it doesn't make me a pussy." Y/n laughed and got up. Osoro got up too and grabbed her hand, "Come on! We need to take you to the nurse!"

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

"You're such and idiot.." Osoro mumbled. Y/n just chuckled and rubbed her chest. It didn't hurt too bad but Y/n had a pretty high pain tolerance.
But just then, they were stopped by two boys. "Hey Osoro. You got spider on your face. Oh wait-. It's just the world's ugliest scar." He snickered. This time, Osoro didn't immediately cry. She was trying to hold it back but looked down in shame, putting a hand over her scar. Y/n was disappointed but didn't say anything. Instead just letting events play out. The boy then continued, "Maybe you could try makeup. Not because of the scar though. You just need some." He and his friend began laughing at Osoro. Y/n frowned and looked to Osoro, hoping she'd finally defend herself.

"Leave me alone."

"With a scar like that, you'll never be adopted. But again, you don't need the scar for that. Probably why your parents ditched you, huh?" Osoro let out a sniffle Y/n instantly felt her blood boil. Y/n harshly grabbed Osoro by the arm and said, "Are you seriously gonna take that?!" Y/n asked her in disbelief. Hoping that maybe she could encourage her to stick up for herself. But Osoro just looked away from her. Y/n gritted her teeth and pulled Osoro closer to her. "Bro make this bitch take it back." Y/n ordered her. But still, Osoro didn't say anything. Fed up, Y/n let her go. "Again, you're just gonna fucking take that? Fight the fuck back!" Y/n nudged her. The boys laughed and one said, "Stay out of this, midget." One of the boys pushed Y/n. She was going to do something about it but before she could, Osoro suddenly punched the boy so hard he immediately fell unconscious. The other boy let out a scream but Osoro grabbed him by his hair and slammed his face into the ground. "DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH HER!" Osoro screamed at the boy before letting him go and getting up. The boy got up and blood was leaking from his forehead. He started crying and got up to run away.

"Oooo we might be in trouble." Y/n joked.

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

Y/n and Osoro stood in the Foster Care office. They were just told that Y/n would be be relocated to another location due to all the violence she did and they accused her of being a bad influence on Osoro. Which wasn't wrong but Y/n wouldn't have had to if the adults actually did their jobs.

So the two of them snuck out that night. It was a beautiful scene at the park. They were sitting by the lake with the glow of the moon illuminating the night. The moon looked particularly large that night and was hovering over the lake. Making for a beautiful scene.

Osoro was crying but Y/n was dead silent. She was staring at the aesthetic scenery in front of her and not facing Osoro. Osoro couldn't even see Y/n's face. "I'm s-s-sorry.. I-It's all my-my fau-lt!" Osoro cried. But Y/n didn't say anything which only made Osoro feel even worse. "Pl-Please d-on't be-be mad at m-me!" Osoro tried wiping tears from her eyes but it was no use.

"Osoro. This isn't your fault. I'm actually proud of you." Y/n's voice was almost a whisper. The susurration of her voice was new. Y/n's voice was usually strong, bold and loud. But now, it felt odd. Perhaps she was feeling sentimental?

"You know... Osoro.." Y/n started. Her soft voice sending a chill down Osoro's spine. "When I look at you.. I honestly see myself. It's really hard to suppress your feelings and and pretend you don't care. It's so mentally draining.. Always being in a state of liberosis. Because letting these things get to you.. It hurts a lot. So I taught myself not to care. To just go with it.." Y/n paused for a moment. It felt like words were just spewing from her mouth. Like she couldn't control it. But it was the first time she truly got to speak her mind.

"So when I see you cry, it gives me a feeling of sonder. It makes me think about how everyone is human with human emotions. So why do people get shamed for having them? God.. What am I even saying?" Osoro noticed Y/n's hands ball into fists but her body remained relaxed for the most part.

Osoro felt as if she was in a movie at that moment. She just stood there watching as the wind blew through Y/n's hair.
"Osoro.. I think you're better than most people. And that's why you get treated so poorly. You have a heart bigger than your body and well.. And you're just like me. Or how I used to be at least..."

Y/n turned around to look at Osoro and the blonde's eyes went wide. Osoro saw something she never thought she'd see. For the first time. Tears. Tears falling from Y/n's eyes.

"Your tears are mine."

"Y/n..." Osoro muttered. Y/n walked over to Osoro and put her hands on her shoulder's. "I admire your eloquence. Though, you probably don't know what that means.. Heh.." She weakly chuckled. And just like that, melancholy filled the air around them and reached into their hearts. They were going to be seperated.
"Osoro. The way you wear your heart on your sleeve.. It touches my heart.. Really. As cheesey as that sounds. And I hope that someday, I can be like that too." Y/n smiled sheepishly and averted her gaze. Osoro was astonished. She'd never seen Y/n like this and would've never expected she would.

"It's funny.." Osoro started, not really knowing what to say, "I wish I was more like you. I wish I was strong. And I wish I had the confidence to defend myself.." Y/n couldn't help but smile. They may have not known each other for that long but they surely were close. Y/n wrapped her arms around Osoro's neck and gently hugged her. "Happiness is ephemeral. I think we've learned a lot from each other."

Y/n was honestly happy she met Osoro. And Osoro felt the same. The two knew that what they had was a friendship that would last a lifetime. Even if they were seperated for now, they'll reunite. Nobody will be able to understand them the way they understand one another.

〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎

Osoro sat on her bed, looking at an old photo of them. Although they were seperated all those years ago, they did eventually reunite later in middle school. And of course, their friendship was as strong as ever. So Osoro just couldn't believe what she was doing. She was betraying her best friend by meeting with Umeji. She knows how Y/n feels about Umeji and here she is, meeting him by the fountain. But she doesn't love Umeji. Or at least she doesn't think she does. Afterall, her heart flutters at the thought of Taro. He understands her in a way not even Y/n could. So why the hell is she meeting with Umeji?!
Osoro's eyes started to water for the first time in years.

I'm a horrible friend.
