It was night time at Jericho's coroner office, and
it was deadly silent like the bodies that were
kept there.
That is, until something thudded in the air
vents, and could be heard crawling along inside
them. The grate to the vents opened above a
surveillance camera, and Thing hopped out of
the vent, onto the camera.
"Dr. Kinbott says I should get out more."
Thing took a piece of black bubble gum and
placed it on top of the camera.
"Says I need to open my mind to new people and experiences. Who am I to argue with her
professional clichés?"
Thing crawled over to a remote on the wall that
opened a large garage-sized door. He pressed
the 'open' button, allowing Wednesday to slip
in, and then re-closed it.
Wednesday heard someone clear their throat. She turned and saw Y/n. She was sitting on the metal table with her legs hanging off. She was swinging her legs back and forth.
"Y/n? How did you get here?" Wednesday asked confused.
"I had feeling you would be stopping by."
"And what was that feeling?"
"Werewolf senses. And I have decided to be 100% truthful to you now. So when we get back to the dorm ask me anything."
Wednesday smiled faintly.
"While I do the autopsy, you find the files of the
monster's other victims and make copies." She
ordered to Thing.
Wednesday placed his bag on a table, and Thing
crawled on top of it and tapped the table.
"Don't pout. Your scalpel skills are questionable." He unrolled a set of different knives and saws and scalpels on the table. "Do you remember my 13th birthday, when Uncle Fester gave me that cadaver? You sliced right through that man's carotid."
Thing tapped table in reluctant agreement and
went off to make copies, as Wednesday opened
various doors along the wall to find the right
dead body.
Wednesday opens opens one of them. "No..."
She tries another. "no....."
She tries another *sniff* "...magnificent hematoma.."
She opens another. "There you are."
Wednesday pulled out the body of the bearded
man and then grabbed a recorder. "Thursday,
7:23 pm. The body is that of a fifty year old
male."
Wednesday lifted the sheet that covered the
body. "Lacerations and defensive wounds
appear on both hands. What remains of the
chest and torso indicates a frenzied attack.
Subject has been almost entirely
disemboweled."
Wednesday bent down and took a look at the
man's lower body. "This is curious. Subject's left
foot is missing. It appears to have been chewed
off at the ankle."
Just then, the doors swung open, Y/n and Thing came in.
"Have you seen a left foot anywhere?"
Thing began tapping frantically at the ground.
"Calm down. Who's coming?" She asked.
"The sherif and the doctor of the building." Y/n told her.
Wednesday shoved the body back in the
container and went to find a hiding spot as well with Y/n.
Sheriff Galpin and a doctor entered the building
and shrugged off their coats.
"Appreciate you coming back to the office, Doc."
The sheriff thanked.
"No problem sheriff. Whatever I can do to
help." The doctor reassured.
They entered the room where all the bodies
were kept.
"Whatever or whoever is responsible for these
killings. In all my years, I've never seen injuries like them. I thought you should see this before I
issued my report on the latest victim. It's a real
noodle scratcher."
The doctor went over to a fridge-looking case
where the victim's foot was kept in a jar.
"The killer cut off two toes from the victim's left
foot. Best guess, they used a surgical saw. The
final autopsy report's still pending." The doctor
said.
"Oops that might have been me." Y/n whispered to Wednesday jokingly.
Wednesday elbowed Y/n's side of the morgue casket thing telling her to be quiet.
"What I can eat them both for you if you want." Y/n said sounding dead serious.
Wednesday elbowed her side again, making Y/n stop talking.
"The minute you're done, send it straight to my
desk." The sheriff requested. "Media blackout
on the toes."
The doctor smiled. "Sure thing, sheriff. Been a
busy couple of weeks, huh. At least I'm going
out in style. Friday's my last day."
"Happy retirement, doc." Sheriff congratulated.
"Gonna surprise Mrs. Anwar with a four-week
cruise. Excited to trade rib shears for Mai Tais.
See yourself out, I'll lock up."
The sheriff smiled awkwardly and left.
The doctor grabbed his coat and looked around the office to make sure nothing was out of place, when he noticed something odd.
He walked over to the wall of storage
compartments for the bodies and noticed that
one on the bottom was slightly open.
He bent down, and opened it, pulling the tray
out to reveal Wednesday laying there with her
eyes wide open, and unblinking.
The doctor looked down at her confused. "I
don't remember this one coming in..." he
tapped Wednesday's cheek.
"Full rigor. You've been dead a while. Guess you won't mind waiting another day for me to cut you open."
The doctor smiled at Wednesday's body,
shoved her back inside the compartment, and
shut the door. He then turned and exited the
room, allowing Thing to come out of his hiding
spot.
He crawled out of the head of a fake skeleton
and rushed over to open the door and let
Wednesday out. He opened the door and
crawled in next to her.
"Five more minutes." Wednesday requested. "I
was just getting comfortable."
Thing went to Y/n and started tapping.
"Fine. I will get her." Y/n said getting up and heading towards Wednesday morgue casket thing. Y/n pulled it outward and picked her up.
"Come on! No time to waste." Y/n said holding Wednesday in her arms.
Wednesday groaned.
...
Wednesday was playing 'Tierra Rica' on h45
record player in the dorm as she was pinning up
all the photo copies Thing had made onto a
board.
Enid and Y/n came up behind her and saw
what she had done.
"When you said you were going to be adding
more decorations to your room, I did not have
Ted Bundy's Pinterest in mind." Enid said with
disgust.
"Still not as creepy as your stuffed unicorn
collection." Wednesday told her.
"Is this why you snuck out last night?" Enid
asked.
"Thing, Me, and Y/n may have made an in sanctioned trip to the county morgue to copy the files of the monster's victims."
Enid's disgust deepened. "Okay, there are so
many levels of ew in that statement, I don't even
know where to begin.
"I need to get inside its head." Wednesday muttered. "Discover any patterns or anomalies.
I've already made a big discovery."
Wednesday began grabbing pictures off of the
board. "Turns out, all of the monsters's victims
have had body parts surgically removed."
She walked over to Y/n and Enid. Then started
handing them pictures.
"The first ones a kidney, the second one a
finger..."
"Wednesday..." Enid gasped. "I don't feel so.."
"The third one a gallbladder, and the bearded
man from the meeting house, two toes. Do you
understand what this means?" Wednesday
turned back to face the board.
"These murdered aren't mindless. He's
collecting trophies like a seasoned serial killer."
Behind her, Enid passed out into Y/n's arms, and Y/n growled and she picked her up.
"It's quite impressive actual-." Wednesday
turned back around and saw Enid in Y/n's arms, and Y/n gently shaking her in her arms.
Wednesday turned to Thing who just shrugged. "I wanna be in Enid's position right now." Wednesday whispered to Thing.
Thing drew a heart in the air again and pointed towards her.
"Thing that's not what I mean. I was just comfortable when Y/n was carrying me. She gentle." Wednesday defended herself.
"Now fetch the smelling salts...again.." Wednesday said disappointed.
