"What the hell?" Mark mutters, looking at the device before bringing it over to Hendery. "They know Taro's upset, right?"
Hendery sighs at the messages spamming Shotaros phone. "Yep."
"Are they really like this? All the time? Like ignoring what's actually going on?"
"If someone looks upset or whatever, they ask about it and try to help but Taro once even said how we all have our close friends within our group and if they paid attention, they would know that was Shotaro hinting at how we should all be closer."
"What's happening?" Shotaro asks, walking up to them and then resting on Marks shoulder to look at the phone.
"They're texting you."
"I take it Sungchan told them."
"Yep. And they asked if you're with me. They wanna talk to you."
"Text the groupchat no."
Hendery does as told and watches texts flood in. "They still wanna take and fix everything. Even though they don't know what they did." Henderys phone buzzes in his jeans so he takes it out and checks it. "They're wondering if I'm mad at them too."
"Mad isn't even the correct word."
"I just told them that", Hendery says, typing on his phone.
"They're not all gonna, like, show up here, right?"
"With my terrible luck, they will."
"How can you say you have terrible luck when your luck brought you me and Mark?"
Henderys eyes soften at the small smile on his best friends face. "True. But I still have terrible luck otherwise."
Mark rubs Shotaros back and then looks over Henderys shoulder with him as he texts their insistent friends. After a few minutes, he groans. "Fuck. They're coming over."

"I don't know if you remember", Hendery starts. "But I specifically told you to do the opposite."
"But we should talk", Renjun says softly, pleading with his eyes.
Normally, Renjuns soft tone and puppy eyes can make anyone do what he wants, but Henderys never been easily swayed. And especially not now when it comes to his best friend.
"Do you recall the text where Taro told you he doesn't want to talk?"
Xiaojun sighs. "We know, but really think we should."
"Fine", Shotaro says from the hallway.
"Do you want me to go?" Mark asks quietly.
"Try to leave and I will punch you." Mark chuckles, quickly switching to smiling awkwardly as the males friends file in and give curious looks to Hendery and Shotaro.
"Hi, Mark."
"Hey."
"What do you insist on talking about?" Shotaro asks as they all make themselves comfortable around the living room with Mark and Hendery on either side of him like bodyguards.
"Well, you've been avoiding us and now you've recently got upset with Sungchan."
"That one we know but why have you been avoiding us? What did we do wrong?"
"First, I didn't think any of you did anything wrong and then I waited." Shotaro smiles. "And then you did. Guess."
"Taro, we really have no idea."
Hendery scoffs, bringing the attention over to him. "Oh, nothing. I just think it's interesting that you all seem so concerned right now."
"What?"
"Wait, you're mad at us too?"
"Oh honey, I stopped caring. I've been at the point Shotaros about to reach."
"Will one of you please explain?"
"You don't care!" Shotaro exclaims. "I've been avoiding you all for at least two weeks and you've only come to see me now. And it's not because you're worried, 'cause if you were you wouldn't have waited until today to show up. My guess is that you just don't want my anger on your conscience."
"Taro, we're here because we care."
Shotaro scoffs. "That's bullshit and you know it."
"What-"
"I am so sick of not feeling important to any of you. Mark treats me better than you do and you're supposed to be my best friends! I know we all absolutely adore Sungchan and Renjun, I do too. But since when do me and Hendery not even matter? You're not as enthusiastic, your smiles aren't as bright, and you don't care as much. We're always with each other because, at first, we only had each other. What's the point in calling us your best friends if you won't even be good ones?" Shotaro sniffles and turns away to hug Mark so they can't see him.
Holding back his own tears, Hendery glares at the group. "Get out."
"Can we-"
"Out."
Hendery follows the group to the door and locks it after them. When he walks back into the living room, he sees Mark reaching out for him. He tries to shake his head and just focus on Shotaro but when he feels a hand pull him into their hug and a kiss placed on the side of his head, he breaks.

Haechan takes a deep breath before ringing the doorbell. He hears voices and footsteps inside, making him a little more on edge when the door opens and Taeyong greets him with an awkward smile.
"My mom's excited."
"Should I expose you now or later?" The woman asks when Haechan enters the apartment.
She glances over at him and breaks out into a smile. "Haechan! Can I hug you?" The male nods and gets enveloped in the woman's warmth and sweet perfume. "How are you?"
"I'm alright."
"Just alright?"
Haechan laughs nervously. "It's more on the positive side. I'm just a little..."
Seeming to understand, she nods. "Got it. Well, hopefully we fix that. Me and Tae made some of your favorites. Help yourself. And I strongly mean that. I made enough of, like, the sandwiches and stuff that we could all each fifteen each. You can always save them too and feed them to your family. I mean you kids, boyfriends, and Alyssa by the way."
Haechan laughs at the womans expression and nods. "Thank you." He looks at everything at the table. "I think my kids would eat all of this by themselves."
"I don't blame them. If it's alright with you, I'd love to meet the people you keep close to you. I will feed you all and I do pay special attention to dessert."
"Mom, are you bribing him?"
"I'm being nice!"
"I appreciate that", Haechan says. "That's fine. I just have to see when my kids are ready. They're not huge people persons, though the youngest two, Affinity and Reese seem just a tad bit more social than Minjae."
"Do you have pictures?"
"Oh, yeah."
"Oh my gosh, they're adorable!" Taeyongs mom exclaims. "And your boyfriends are cute too."
"They are."
Haechan points out each one, telling her their names, and laughing as she continues to fawn over them in the picture.
"What does Alyssa look like now?"
"The most recent one I have is when she started college. My dad sent it to me."
"Your smiles are still the same."
"I've been told. She kinda acts like me."
"Is it annoying to you?"
"Only sometimes."
"How's Kade? That is his name, right?"
Taeyong smiles at Haechan and his mom catching up. It makes him happy to see the male at ease with his mom, even though it hurts him a little bit knowing that they're not like that.
As if on cue, Haechan glances over at Taeyong and sends him a small smile. Taeyongs mom notices and smiles at the two and waves Taeyong over, but not without food.

"Is Doyoung usually this clingy?" Ana asks Yuta. "Not that I mind, I'm just curious."
"Yes."
"Oh okay."
Yuta laughs at the two and holds up his phone. "Smile." After taking the picture, he sends it to the groupchat and then to Alyssa and chuckles at the quick response. "Alyssa wants to steal you again."
Doyoung tightens his hold on Ana, making the girl laugh. "No."
"Shouldn't you be really good at sharing?"
"I'll share you with Yuta and Taeyong. That should be good enough."
"You're probably really glad apartments are expensive so I can stay here longer", Ana jokes.
"Yes, I'm very thrilled to be your last resort before suffering", Doyoung says in a monotone voice that makes the two laugh.
"Really, though, I appreciate all this. I'm very grateful. I'd pay you back but I don't think you'll let me."
"I won't. We love your company so it's no problem anyways."
"Well, don't you want me to have a place by the time you, Yuta, and Taeyong move in together?"
Doyoung makes eye contact with his fiance. "Well, actually..."

"He went out to get coffee. Hey, did anything happen?"
"Haechan doesn't tell me unless it involves him and I bother him into it."
"Oh, okay. Renjun is just really sad and he's been making jokes that scream 'I need help' but he keeps saying everything is fine, even though he's drowning himself in food and coffee, which I'm pretty sure is just because he never drinks on the job."
"Have you seen any of his friends or Winwin?"
"According to Haeun, Winwin isn't much better but neither will tell Haeun anything. As for the others, nothing. Do you think they had a fight?"
"Maybe. Let me see if Haechans boyfriends or like Chenle know anything."

Haeun laughs at how happy her best friend looks.

Reese rolls his eyes and plops himself down on the chair and pulls Affinity next to him. Nina and Minjae both go to the beanbag chair at the same time and have an awkward stare down as they both gesture for each person to sit down.
"If y'all ain't gonna sit, me and Haeun will sit there", Alya tells them.
"Sure", Minjae says, moving to sit on the couch.
Nina follows after her until she realizes Ana isn't seated yet. "Where do you wanna sit?"
"You can sit there, I'll sit on the floor."
"No, I'll move", Zoe says.
"No, you're fine. I don't mind the floor."
"Neither do I", Zoe says with a laugh.

"Yeah, but you're gonna distract me so it will. Also, if you purposefully put any ingredient on me, I'm spraying you with a hose. It's non-negotiable."
The middle-aged man nearby laughs. "I love when pairings come here. It's always interesting to see their dynamics."
Johnny and Jaehyun nods and smile before disappearing into the berry field.
"So what are we looking for exactly?" Johnny asks.
Jaehyun shrugs. "Anything. We'll make it work."
"You just wanted to pick berries, didn't you?"
Jaehyun smiles sheepishly, face going pink. "Maybe."
"Okay, stop looking at me like that."
"Why?"
"'Cause you look adorable and I'm trying to be annoyed."
"Wait, what?"
"Do you need me to say it again louder? You look adorable", Johnny repeats, louder than before, embarrassing Jaehyun.
"That's enough. I got it."
Johnny laughs at the red-faced male, making Jaehyun smile.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Taeyongs mom exclaims after hearing all about Haechans mother and her husband.
"I wish it was joke", Haechan replies, trying to mask his feelings.
The older woman brings him into a hug. "I know you're big now but what I told when you were fifteen still applies. If you need anything, I'm here. And my house is a safe space for everyone. Your boyfriends, your friends, your kids, everyone. Now, you can take this with a grain of salt if you like but if you ever find yourself wanting a mama figure, you can come to me, okay? Even if you just want hot chocolate."
Haechan laughs. "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind."
"Tell your siblings too."
"I will."
"So, can I ask you a question? 'Cause Tae refuses to tell me-"
Taeyong groans. "Please don't."
"I think I know what you wanna ask."
"Can I?" Haechan looks at Taeyong who nods. Taeyong wants to sink himself further into the ground with every expression his mom makes as Haechan explains. When he's done, the woman takes a deep breath and pats Haechans leg. "Well, I'm glad you're smart." She looks at her son. "That was very stupid of you."
Taeyong nods. "I know."
"I'm assuming you learned your lesson." A nod. "And that someone put you in your place." More nodding. She holds her arms out. "Come here."
She brings Taeyong into a hug. "I've seen you do plenty of dumb things and I love you anyways, that's not changing. Now if you do something stupid while being stupid, you're on your own."
Taeyong chuckles. "I know." He kisses his mom's head, who smiles. "Also, if you dad gives you any crap, tell him the name Sarah. It will shut him up so fast."
"Who's Sarah?"
"A pretty woman Taes dad liked before me. Tried to impress her and ended up looking like a jerk and an idiot. She called him out on it too. It's one of my favorite memories."
"Were you friends?"
"Oh, no, I just worked at the diner she liked to come into and study and so I could just watch Taeyongs dad come in and pick a spot just close enough that he could stare. I don't blame him, Sarah was very pretty. But you could just see the way he changed when she came in. And for some reason, after all that, I wanted that fool."
Taeyong laughs. "It's funny when you insult Dad."
"I'm telling him you said that."
"Wait a minute."

"Oh, sure."
"Correct me if I'm wrong but are you on a date with that young man?" Jaehyun glances at Johnny and nods, ears going red. "Perfect. Come here."
Jaehyun sends a glance at Johnny before following the older man to the entrance of the fruit farm. He disappears through a door and comes out a minute later with a heart-shaped basketball full of fruit and hands it to Jaehyun.
"Um..."
"Take that and later on, maybe when you're saying you're goodbyes, give it to your date and tell him to cut open each fruit. You could add somethin' cheesy too, like the cherries cut open are the eyes you make when you see him." At his blank expression, the man sighs. "Hearts. The fruits look like hearts inside. This basket is specifically prepared to show love and appreciation. Anyhow, here you go."
"How much?"
"It's on the house. All in hopes that I'm making the right choice. If I ever, somehow find out, this was a mistake, I'll up the price for inconvenience and whatnot."
Jaehyun chuckles. "Sounds good. You shouldn't have to up the prices for me. I wanna do everything to show Johnny—my date—how much I like him."
"That's what I like to hear. Now, go back to him. You two should probably get started on your pie if you're as much a distraction as Johnny thinks you'll be", the man says with a laugh.
"Hey!"

"Really, Johnny, if there's more I can do, I wanna know. I'm willing to take however long it might be to convince you but I wanna know if it's working and if you think it's worth your time. And I don't mean me as your friend, I mean if you think giving us a chance is worth your time. I don't want you to think I'm wasting it."
"As long as you mean everything you say and this isn't just gonna go away one of these days and you'll expect me to go back to how it was, it's worth it."
"I'm not going to do that. I don't wanna harm my relationship with you, no matter what relationship that is."

"Who is it?" Shotaro calls.
When he receives no answer, he looks out the peephole and sees no one, but he does see a box and a basket on the ground in front of his door. He opens it and looks around before bringing the items into his apartment. As he shuts the door, something falls off the top of the large box. He places everything on the counter and then picks up what fell, confused to find a box of chocolates and a heart-shaped card on top that reads 'You have my heart'.
His phone buzzes in his pocket right before playing the ringtone he set for Hendery. He answers it and puts it on speaker so he can continue looking through the stuff.
"Did you get gifts too?"
"Yeah, I just got them. Did you see which one of them put it there?"
"Nope. I just heard the footsteps and then saw the old woman that lives near me smile. She said they looked like a hooligan but they're probably not if they deliver gifts."
"Did they all make a contribution?" Shotaro asks.
"I'm not sure yet."
"Did you open anything?"
"I'm glaring at a box of chocolates out of spite. What about you?"
"Nope but I am about to read this card. That's from Sungchan. Okay, good, he's smart enough to I'm not in love with him and just mad he did something shitty. Apparently he also got me me a plushy somewhere in here."
"I found a card from Xiaojun. It starts off with compliments." Hendery does quiet, seeming to read the card. "Okay, that was nice but I'm not forgiving him that easily. I'm also still pissed that they made you cry."
Shotaro sighs. "I love that about you but I want you to be upset and forgive them on your own terms. I'm not gonna be mad if you get it over before I do. Like I wasn't mad when you still saw them after I started avoiding them."
"I know. But right now, I'm not okay with them. And that includes hurting you. It hurts me too."
If they were together, Hendery would see the way Shotaros eyes soften. "I love you."
"I love you too. Now, get over here so we binge on the snacks together."
When Hendery hears a gasp, he knows the male has a mischievous glint in his eye. "Ooh, is that the tone you use for your flings?"
"I'm gonna hang up on you."
"It is then!"
"Is it important?"
"No, just wondering. I don't blame that for working on people though. It's hot."

At their frozen faces, Ana laughs. "Sorry. I should warn you that part of my coping is making jokes about now knowing how parents work at all. I mean, I didn't really have a good example. Until now. Also, there's three of you so I'm still gonna use your names."

It's been idk like 8(?) days since the last update and it's the longest I've gone without working on any part of this book since chapter 116(that I remember) and it made me very uncomfortable whenever I thought about it. I did make some progress with I Love You As Well so there's that
But the reason for my unintentional Love Me break is because of that first scene. And it's still not 100% up to my standards:) and then just ideas in general. Which I have none of, hence with this isn't as long as the chapters usually are nowadays. I'm trying to be fine with that too
I don't know if I said anything that would make you worry about me but in case you are, I'm good. I just dislike when I'm out of ideas and have to take a break from writing when I want to be writing
