I'm honestly stuck on deciding if I should make chapters on Killcode and Earth in my Royal Ball AU. We might not make one for Killcode but I am intrigued about making one for Earth. It's conflicting since I'm not good at sticking to things and finishing them- like this AU. That's why it's only actually one night long, it's only about the one Royal Ball hence the AU name. So I was planning on just ending it after we got Moon's chapter out but I also want to try out writing for Princess Earth and King Killcode. If I do end up making Killcode a chapter he'll be a king since- well, we expect nothing less from such a respectable, big man (Lmao)[EDIT: This is even funnier to me now that he's small 🤣].>

You were sitting in your room on your bed, a bit anxious to go out and attend your older sibling's Ball. Because you haven't gotten the chance to speak with (Ec)Y/n for a couple days. It wasn't certain that they were attending the ball or not.
Just the thought of being there without emotional support from a fellow awkward person made your heart feel like it was wilting with anxiety.
Angel was assisting you with getting your outfit on for the ball. She was one of the sweeter castle maids that didn't mind if you were shy or indecisive with your decisions.
You take a breath in as you straighten yourself up while Angel tightens the corset around your waist. Once she's done you let out the breath, your eyes flickering over to the side in thought.
You eventually come up with something to say to fill this awkward silence, gulping down the anxious lump in your throat. "Um... hey Angel..?"
The said maid glances to your face and tilts her head slightly as she continues assisting you with putting on your accessories. "Yes your majesty?"
Your gaze moves over to Angel's face. "Do-.. Do you know who's coming to my sibling's ball..?"
You quickly look away and fidget with your hands that were clasped in front of you impatiently for this process of getting ready to be over. "If you don't don't know that's okay, it's not really all that important anyways."
Angel looks to the side before her gaze goes back to you with a soft smile. "Well, I have heard that the Brothers from the Celestial Kingdom are coming to the ball. Maybe one of them could be nice to chat with, majesty."
You feel a bit more nervous now that you knew that the Celestial princes are attending the ball. "Of course they are..." You mutter to yourself under your breath.
You frown slightly. "I wish I could just stick with (S)Y/n. I wonder if they'll find anyone in this event."
Angel lets out a small chuckle. "It's possible."
You pout deeper at her statement. "What if (S)Y/n does find someone and won't want to hang out with me anymore?"
Angel sighs and takes a step back from you, having finished getting you ready for the ball. "I doubt they would, (M)Y/n. Your sibling cares about you too much to dare even think of leaving you behind. Just... go have fun, I'll be attending the snack trays tonight so if you need anything I'll be there along with you in the crowd."
You wilt slightly. "Alright."
You check yourself in the large wrap around full body mirror and then turn to Angel, giving her a sheepish smile. "Thanks."
Angel nods before exiting the room and getting ready for her tray holder position. You stare at yourself in the mirror for a bit longer before sighing and slowly walk out of your room.
You eventually make it to the large balcony at the top of the grand staircases. You peer down at the large group of gathered nobels and foreign rulers. Your eyes flit around the room before you just sigh once more, leaning your chin on your palms as your elbows were propped up on the fancy railing around the balcony.
It was so socially cluttered down there and it just made you want to leave even more. But then you thought you noticed someone you knew. You winced in massive 2nd hand embarrassment when they nearly crashed into Prince Eclipse.
You were surprised when you saw them move out of the way at just the right time, it was definitely something you don't see often.
Once the servant reached the top grand staircase and placed down their serving tray your eyes lit up in recognition. It was (Ec)Y/n, you thought they weren't going to serve at the ball, at least that was something.
A grateful grin spread across your face, the distant expression from earlier dissappearing from your face.
"(E)Y/n! Oh I was worried you might have called in sick so you wouldn't have to deal with all the people at the party. I was so sad to think I might not have seen you tonight!!"
You open your arms and they followed your lead, rushing into the enthusiastic hug. You practically squeezed the life out of (Ec)Y/n because of how much better they made you feel by being there with you.
The two of you nuzzle into each other's cheek affectionately, both being glad about not being alone at the ball. You two have been the bestest of friends since you were first introduced years ago.
You and (Ec)Y/n giggled and then parted the embrace after a few seconds.
"So how is attending your sibling's party?" (Ec)Y/n questioned.
You shrugged your shoulders slightly and tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
"It's... underwhelming.." You hesitantly admit.
"...But also Overwhelming?" You added with confusion, unsure if you're wording it correctly.
(Ec)Y/n gives you a smile. "It's not what you'd thought it'd be like?"
You shook your head uncertainly. "No, it is.. I just thought it'd be more stressful with all these people. And (S)Y/n is upset that it's happening in the first place so I'm worried about them, you know?"
They nod sheepishly and (Ec)Y/n takes one of your hands in theirs gently in reassurance. "I'm sure it'll be alright, I saw them over at the cake table with a blonde."
You cup (Ec)Y/n's hands in yours, awe sparkling in your eyes, you hadn't held their hand in a while and it always brought you comfort to do so. You couldn't help fawning over the silky feel of their hands."Your hands are so gentle and dainty!!"
Your delighted reaction to holding their hands makes (Ec)Y/n let out a soft, lighthearted laugh, making you smile sweetly in turn.
(Ec)Y/n points over to where they saw
(S)Y/n with the blonde. "See? Right there."
Your eyes travel over to the dessert tables, where you honestly did expect your sibling to be most of the ball. Your eyes light up in surprise when you realize who they're talking with.
"Yes, I see them now..-oh my gosh is that Prince Sun, the 3rd Prince of the Celestial Kingdom they're talking to??" You whisper-shout to (Ec)Y/n.
(Ec)Y/n's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Prince Sun is here??"
You tilt your head at (Ec)Y/n in disbelief. "All the Celestial Princes are attending this party, how did you not know?? You literally almost crashed into Prince Eclipse earlier." You point out to the servant, sweatdropping.
You grimace a little in empathy for your friend as you watch the color drain from their face as the realization hits them. "T-that was Prince Eclipse??"
You feel your own panic rise in sympathy for how oblivious (Ec)Y/n had been. "YOU DIDN'T KNOW???"
You practically shout out in shock.
You quickly slap a hand over your mouth when you realize how loud you were. A few people turn to look, making (Ec)Y/n's face turn red in embarrassment, you feel rather dumb for shouting, but your nerves were going crazy for your friend's predicament.
"Oh! Sorry!!" You whisper to your panicked friend.
You lower your voice to a mutter as to not embarrass (Ec)Y/n any further. "I just can't believe you practically bumped into Eclipse and you didn't know."
There was a voice that spoke behind (Ec)Y/n but it only really registered into your head after you had started speaking. "Well that hasn't happened before, how intriguing."
"I wouldn't expect it to have happened before-" You immediately pause when you see who spoke behind (Ec)Y/n.
Your mouth clamps shut and you grab (Ec)Y/n's shoulders, turning them around to face whoever spoke. You then hide behind your friend, awkwardly provoking a dry chuckle from Prince Eclipse who now stood in front of the two of you.
You watched as your friend struggled to find words to say to Eclipse. "Er... Sorry for almost walking into you.." (Ec)Y/n sounded rather anxious and their apology gradually turned into mutters.
Then one of the most unexpected things happened. Eclipse came up to (Ec)Y/n and took their hands in his, seemingly observing them as they fit almost perfectly in his. You felt awkward to be watching this and it was clear that (Ec)Y/n was also rather nervous but didn't pull their hands away from him.
"Wanted to see if what Royal (M)Y/n said was true.. and it is." You heard Eclipse mention your name and you felt even more out of place.
You knew that Eclipse probably was close by when you were talking about (Ec)Y/n's hands so that probably what he was talking about. You stopped hiding behind the servant and stood there, awkwardly listening to their conversation.
(Ec)Y/n's eyebrows furrowed, they seemed confused. "What is?"
Eclipse's thumb rubs against (Ec)Y/n's fingers. "You hands are very soft."
At that, you decided to leave them be. You could tell that (Ec)Y/n was distracted by Eclipse so you figured it'd be alright if you just left so that you wouldn't have to be a third wheel. Also because you didn't want to accidentally ruin the moment with one of your little outbursts again.
Silently making your way down the edge of one of the grand staircases, you anxiously weave your way through the very outskirts of the crowded room. The feeling of eyes being on you made you feel even more jumpy.
Finally, you make your way over the glass door of one of the lower balconies. Luckily, nobody was here, at least not yet. You give one last glance to the glass doors to make sure nobody was paying any attention to you.
From what you could see, nobody seemed to care.
You let out a breath and braced yourself on the balcony railing before hoisting yourself up to sit on it. You then swing your legs over the rails and hop down onto the ground.
You had specifically chose that balcony since it was the lowest one, only about 3 feet off the ground, so that you wouldn't hurt yourself too badly if you actually fell.
And also, because it was above your family's royal gardens.
You often found yourself escaping through that very same balcony to hang out in the gardens ever since you were little.
Despite coming here so often, it still felt very nostalgic.
A small smile found its way onto your lips and you started walking further into the gardens.
The sound of the glass door you escaped with opening made a jolt go through your body.
"Isn't it a bit late for you to be outside your majesty?" A tired and deep voice jests from the balcony.
You stiffen at the voice of the 2nd born Prince of the Celestial Kingdom. You slowly turn around to face Moon, who was leaning over the railing to peer at you.
Your eyes flicker over his features, subconsciously studying him.
Moon's navy blue hair looked nearly dark enough to look black in the dim lighting and had an odd patch of white that swooped to the side slightly covered his left eye.
His ruby colored eyes seemed distant as if he were half asleep, though when you really look at his eyes, there's a hint of curiosity in them.
"I- I was just.. going out for a walk, that's all." You stutter out an excuse that's not particularly very useful.
That lame excuse made Moon's tired and nonchalant expression become amused. He then lifted himself over the rails and hopped down just like you had done.
"Well it's not safe for royalty like yourself to be roaming around at dusk alone.. I'll join you."
Moon's statement made you confused and you raise an eyebrow at him as he walks up to join you in the garden. "But aren't you royalty too? Or are you disregarding that fact Prince Moon?"
A half smile rises to Moon's lips at your sassy comment. His tired red eyes study you for a moment before he clears his throat. "Maybe I am, but what did you expect me to say?
'Hey, can I join you in your adventurous jump off the balcony and we can escape from this loud and obnoxious party to live happily ever after?'"
You can't help but snort at that. "I mean, it definitely sounds appealing."
Moon tilts his head and glances at you as the two of you walk side by side through the large Xendale castle gardens. "Which part? Jumping off a balcony or a happily ever after with a prince?"
You roll your eyes, a small smile playing on your lips. "I liked the part where we escape the obnoxious party and just hang out in the garden."
Moon seems pleased with your answer and chuckles softly. A comfortable silence settles over the two of you as you continue to walk side by side.
After a few seconds of walking your eyes light up as you reach a more secluded area of the garden and you see a patch of borage flowers. You kneel down next to the plant on the flowerbed and tenderly trace the small petals of the flower.
Moon's tired ruby eyes glance down to the bloom in curiosity and slight confusion. "What is it?"
You give him a small but cheerful smile and tenderly pick one of the opened buds from the plant and hold it out to Moon. "This is a borage flower, but it's also called a 'Star flower' as a nickname. The flower itself is edible and tastes like blueberries! I loved to sneak down here and grab some of the buds when the gardeners were away."
<I'm actually putting it in here from experience with the borage plant, it's really good and would totally recommend trying it. I love it and figured it would fit a Moon chapter perfectly, here's a picture of borage flowers for reference.>
Moon hesitantly accepts the flower from your hand and gazes down at it as it rests in his palm. He then shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly to himself and brought it to his mouth to taste. The petals had a soft texture and it tasted sweet, almost fruity but more subtle. It was decent, to say the least in his opinion.
"It's pretty nice, Where'd you learn about this stuff?" Moon tilts his head slightly down at you, interested on how a royal like you would have learned about plants like this.
You chuckle softly and grab a borage flower for yourself. "I escaped to the garden like this when I was younger as well. One day, I met one of the new herbalists that were appointed to the castle. he was quite talkative."
"I see." Moon hums in thought. "You seem like quite the runaway."
You laugh quietly. "Yeah, I guess I am."
Moon's ruby gaze lingers on you as you look down at the borage blooms. He glances to the side, swallowing a lump that had formed in his throat at the relaxed sight of you.
"So... what's the next thing you want to do on our little adventure away from the party?"
You look up to him as he speaks. You honestly weren't sure of what to do, you're usually out here alone so you don't do much else besides walking around and fawning over all the plants in the garden.
But with someone else with you, you didn't want to bore them.
You glance around uncertainly, trying to search for something to do. You part your lips slightly as you think, trying to think of something to say. "Um..."
Moon tilts his head down to you, studying your features. After a few seconds he kneels down on the flowerbed next to you.
"I can think of a couple things."
You halt in your search and look to his face with curiosity. "You do? Like what?"
A small joking grin rises to his face, his tired eyes were teasing almost. "For one, I think it's be nice to take a nap. I mean, flowerbed does have the word 'bed' in the name.
We could just sleep here and skip the party, it's a nice clear night and the party isn't going to end for a long time."
You can't help but let out a little giggle at the constantly tired princes' suggestion. "That is pretty tempting."
His smile softens slightly as he observes you, eyes lighting up at your giggle. "Yeah, but I don't think you'd want dirt all over your outfit so we can take a nap on a bench instead."
You beam at him and nod, to be honest, you are rather tired. "Okay."
Moon helps you up from the ground and the two of you walk over to a bench which was in front of a wall of thick, flowering rose bushes.
Moon sits on the right, against the arm. You sit down on his left, next to him.
Moon leans back, resting on the back of the bench. He then holds up his left arm over your shoulders, not yet touching you. "Is it okay if I have my arm around your shoulders?"
You give Moon a little nod and his arm lowers to rest across your shoulders. In return, you lean against his side, laying your head on his shoulder.
"Mhm, I'm usually more comfortable in my sleep when I'm snuggled into something."
You weren't sure why you were being so open with talking to him, he just seemed so calm and patient.
Moon hummed in thought at you answer, an almost unnoticeable tired smile on his face. "Well that's good, I tend to be clingy in my sleep."
His eyelids drooped over his tired ruby eyes as he gazed at you while you got comfortable against him. After a few minutes, you felt your worried thoughts of the party being washed away from your mind as your cheek brushed up against the fabric of his shirt.
He nuzzles his cheek on the top if your head and quickly relaxed, wrapping his other arm around you loosely. "Mmh... Goodnight..."
You smile softly and close your eyes, letting out a quiet breath before the two of you fall asleep together on the bench. It's too comfortable to be worrying about when the party ends or if anyone finds them.
You can't help but believe this is the first nap of many.
