"Because I wanna be", Doyoung answers, causing Jaehyun to roll his eyes.
"Ignore him", Taeyong tells him, causing Doyoung to gasp dramatically. Taeyong grabs Doyoungs face and presses a kiss to his lips and then smiles. "There."
Doyoung smiles softly. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Jaehyun, I'll go if you want me to."
"You can stay. I could use the advice. Just keep this between us, alright?"
"You'd be amazed at the things I know about the people in our friend group. Go on."
"Do you already know about the civil disagreement?"
"I know that it happened."
Jaehyun sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "I don't even know what was going on. I mean, I've been stressing about Johnny because I'm liking him more than I normally do and I can't just tell him that and he knows something's up and it bothers him that I'm not telling him. It makes sense but I just don't want him upset with me and I don't want him to choose someone over me."
"Okay...so what exactly do you need help with?"
"How do I get things back to normal and express my interest in him?" Jaehyun groans and drops his hand into his hands. "I hate this."
"What?" Doyoung asks in amusement. "Admitting your feelings?"
"It's just weird with him."
Taeyong chuckles and rubs Jaehyuns shoulders. "It's okay. Your feelings are normal."
"Oh God, this reminds me of when I came out."
"Wait, what happened?"
"I told my mom that I like guys too and she was like, 'honey, I just want you to know your feelings are completely normal and valid' and then she asked if I liked Johnny or Mark."
"They always get so nosy. My mom never asked directly, she just asked if I liked this person and then, another time, she was like 'you really like Jeno, don't you?' and I assumed she meant it platonically so I said yes in confusion and then she was like 'what about a date?' and I asked her if she wanted to ask me something and she said no and that she loves me."

Dana knocks on the open door and then sticks her head in to look at the girl sitting on her bed. "Minjae?"
The girl removes her headphones and puts them around her neck. "Yes?"
The woman smiles. "I don't know if you're familiar with that local designer Renjun but he reached out and offered to do a photoshoot so I can update your profiles. And he said he'll do makeovers for free."
"Oh, that's really nice of him."
"It is. Anyways, him and his assistant are coming in today to plan out and I was hoping you'd show them around."
"Oh, sure. When are they coming?"
"About two. I'll make sure the others are behaved to make it easier."
"Alright."
"Thank you."

As Dana said, at two o'clock, Renjun and Lena walk into the orphanage and get greeted by Minjae and all the other children nearby.
Renjun giggles at the kids. "They're so cute."
The teen nods."Most of them are."
"Most of them?"
"It's hard to find the troublemakers and the loud ones cute."
"True", Lena agrees. "My little brother was cute until he learned how to annoy me."
"So", Minjae starts, trying to make conversation. "I heard you're gonna take pictures of us."
"Yes. Dana told me she wanted your profiles updated soon and styling for photoshoots is one of my favorite things to do."
"It sounds fun", Lena says.
"Affinity, come back here with that!"
A young girl runs past the three, laughing, followed by a familiar red-haired teenager.
"Hello", Haeun says, not really looking at the guests as she scans the room for the girl.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"Nice to see you again."
"Huh?" Haeun finally looks at three and realizes that one of them is the man who paid for her groceries once. "You're the designer?"
"That would be me."
"It's really nice of you to do this. I have to go find that girl." She turns to Minjae. "If you see Affinity, please stop her from eating that ice cream. She hasn't had lunch yet."
"She's probably eating it right now."
Haeun groans. "Where's Reese?"
"Probably hiding with Affinity", Alya answers, joining them. She waves at Renjun and Lena. "Hi and hi again."
Renjun chuckles. "Hi again."
"Hi."
"It was nice to see you. We have to go hunt down children."
"Wait, me too?" Alya asks.
"Yes, you too." Haeun grabs her hand and sends one last smile at the trio before pulling her away.
Minjae continues showing Renjun and Lena around and introducing them to the kids they come across. When Minjae sees Reese, she flags him over.
"If you're gonna ask me where Affinity is, I don't know and by the way, I told her not to eat the ice cream."
"I thought you were the voice of reason."
The boy sighs. "I try." He finally notices the two adults behind the girl. "Oh, hi."
"Hi."
"Hi."
Affinity appears and clings onto Reese. "Reese, you know you're my best friend, right?"
"What do you want?"
Renjun, Lena, and Minjae laugh.
Affinity pouts. "I have to do the dishes. Help me, please."
"No."
"Why?"
"It's your fault you have to do them."
"You're no help."
She turns her attention to Minjae and clings onto her instead. "Minjae, will you help me, please?"

Affinity keeps staring at her, giving her puppy eyes, pleading, causing the teen to sigh. "Fine."

"You three are funny", Lena says. "You're like siblings."

Jaehyun acting weird is one thing. Jaehyun acting weird, not talking about it, frustrating Johnny, and not really talking to him is also one thing. Jaehyun pretending like none of it happened and going as far as flirting with Johnny when they haven't spoken in a few days is a completely other thing.
"Uh, what the hell?" Johnny asks in confusion.
"What?" Jaehyun grins. "I just said you're pretty."
"Yeah, and when have you ever said that to me?"
"Well, I'm saying it now."
"Okay, why? And while you're at it, why are you saying everything else?"
"Because I want to tell you."
"Is that all?"
Jaehyun sighs. "You still don't understand me, do you?"
"It would help if you explain yourself."
Jaehyun steps closer to Johnny, into his personal bubble. He reaches up to brush Johnnys hair back, unknowingly sending the males heart fluttering. He doesn't hide the way he drags his eyes over Johnnys face and falls to his lips, lingering on them.
"I mean it when I say you're pretty." Johnny stares at him with wide eyes, not believing what's happening. It can't be true. "I mean it when I say I wouldn't mind if you thought of me in a romantic way. That I want to be yours."
It's irritating. How easily Johnny can fall right back into all his feelings for the male. The feelings he's been trying so hard to get rid of. And it's annoying. It's annoying that he's finally experiencing what he'd imagined only after he stopped wanting it.
He realizes what's happening before Jaehyun even leans in, almost completely destroying their distance. Jaehyuns eyes snap up to Johnnys, panic in them and written on his face. It's almost funny. How just last year Johnny had been the one to initiate a kiss and Jaehyun had rejected him only to get the same treatment now.
"You don't like me."
"Yes, I do."
"No", Johnny shakes his head, "You don't. How could you? Nothing changed."
"I just do. I really do like you, Johnny."
"Why? What changed?" At Jaehyuns silence, Johnny keeps talking. "You didn't want me! For years, you didn't even look at me like that. Last year, I fucking kissed you. I tried! You didn't want me last year. Why do you want me now? I've spent so fucking long trying to get over you. It hurts so much. It was stupid of me to even think I had a chance and I'm constantly getting reality checks. It's always been anyone else. How can you expect me to just accept this?"
"Let me prove it to you." Johnny scoffs, shocking Jaehyun. "What?"
"As much as I'd love us to work out, I don't believe you. There's no reason for you to like me and if you somehow finally do have a crush on me, I'm sure that's all it will be. We're not gonna date."
"How are you so sure? Do you just not want to?"
"I'm just so tired of hoping and waiting." Johnny sighs. "I need to think about this."
Jaehyun nods. "Okay."
Johnny so badly wants to just walk away, but unfortunately for him, that's something he's never been able to do.
He looks down, growing antsy from his overwhelming feelings. Only when he can't stand being near the male anymore does he finally look at his best friend. Jaehyuns eyes widen at Johnnys flushed face and glossy eyes. Johnny smiles sadly and pecks Jaehyuns cheek and mumbles, "I love you."
Jaehyun kisses Johnnys forehead. "I love you too."

Johnny nods and walks away, hating that he feels like he's getting in his own way. But he's not gonna get what he wants anyways.

Not expecting anyone, Mark is confused when someone knocks on his door. He opens and gets just a glimpse of Jaehyuns distressed face before the male lunges at him.
"What happened?"
"He needs time."
"That's not bad, right?"
"He's angry and he doesn't trust me. I feel like I ruined our chances and it's all my fault."
"Hey, you didn't do anything wrong. It's okay to not like someone. And feelings take time. It's just confusing. Not just for Johnny but you too."
Jaehyun doesn't respond, just continuing to cling to Mark. The male waddles them into his bedroom and lays down. Jaehyun doesn't hesitate to lay on him and rest his head on Marks chest, telling Mark all he needs to know about his friend.
"You're warm", Jaehyun mumbles.
"I love you."
"Damn, not even a 'thank you'?" Mark gently smacks Jaehyuns back, earning a chuckle from the male. "I love you too, Marky." Before Mark can scold him about the name, Jaehyun adds, "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For being you."
Mark brushes Jaehyuns hair out of the way to kiss his forehead and then continues to stroke his hair. "Same to you."

Renjun knew that being around children would make him want one. What he didn't know was that a certain red-haired teenage girl would distract him from baby fever and make him want her as his own instead.
When the children had come in for the photoshoot, certain children had taken it upon themselves to keep everyone else under control and be as helpful as possible. Haeun was one of them.
But not only that, she was extremely interested in Renjun and Lenas work as a designer, stylist, and an assistant of a designer and stylist.
After finding out the name of Renjuns website, she'd gone to it and audibly gasped at the beautiful pieces up for sale and proceeded to praise Renjun. Renjun enjoyed her company so much that he told the orphanage directors and told his friends and boyfriends about the girl.
"Wow, she seems great."
"She is. It sucks she's there though. That they're all there. They deserve loving families."
"We can just hope that they get them."
"The younger ones are most likely to. The older ones know it themselves, most people don't want teenagers. Like Nina, she was there for years and she always went right back there."

"Lele and Jisung better adopt her or I'll do it myself."

Winwin pulls Renjun into his arms, which causes Renjun to move in between his legs. He presses a kiss to Renjuns cheek and holds him tight. Renjun holds onto Winwins arms, enjoying the comfort.
"Is a kid something you really want? Like, right now?"
"I honestly don't care. I could wait but I would even adopt one right now. I only have the space for one but to even try... I know it doesn't work out all the time and they might not like me but I still wanna do it."
Winwin kisses Renjuns cheek again. "You're amazing."
Renjun giggles, turning to Winwin. "You too."
"I'm okay with it by the way."
"Hm?"
"If you adopt someone, whenever you're ready. I'll be right here to help and support you and the kid."
Renjun turns to his boyfriend with a big grin on his face. "Are you implying you want a family with me?"
"I want every good thing with you."
The words pierce Renjuns heart, making him insanely happy (and a little flustered). He cups his boyfriends cheek, love taking over him. "Fuck, I love you so much." And then he connects their lips.
Winwin feels like he can't breathe. It's not unusual for him to crumple at something the male does but there's something different about the way Renjun is kissing him. It's enticing (as always) and lustful (like usual) but he can also feel the love. That mixed with the words Renjun just told him turns him into mush.
Renjun giggles at the way Winwins lips start to slow down, the way they always do when he flusters him.
"What?"
"It's so cute when you get so nervous you forget how to kiss."
"I did not forget how to kiss."
"But you are nervous?"
"Renjun, in three seconds, you're gonna put your hand on my heart to feel it beating." He's right as Renjun checks Winwins heartbeat, something he'd gotten in the habit of doing after he noticed Winwin try to do it discreetly after he flirted with him once.

"But you're cuter."
"You're not gonna let me win this, are you?"
"Of course not. Plus, our friends would agree with me."

Yuta smiles at Nina fondly and kisses her head. "Adorable."
The girl giggles, making Jisung and Yuta smile. Chenle joins them at that moment and makes Nina shriek when he hugs her, causing him to laugh. "Sorry."
"Why are you and Jisung always scaring me?"
"You're jumpy like Jisung, I see."
"It's their fault."
Like they didn't even hear her, Chenle and Jisung continue to look at the girl lovingly, not noticing Yuta smiling at them.
They look like a family
He takes a picture, which catches their attention. "How cute. Now I'm gonna take this cute cake roll and we're gonna go shopping? Kind of."
"Cake roll?"
"Should I have said something else?"
Nina shakes her head, laughing. "It works. Bye Chenle, bye Jisung." The three hug one last time before Nina follows Yuta out of the door.

"Jisung told me about them and he showed me the picture of you two cuddling. It's so cute." Nina blushes, prompting Yuta to hug her from her cuteness. "I would squeal over you if we weren't in a public place."
The girl laughs. "I think that would embarrass both of us."
"Well, I'd do it to embarrass you."
"Hey!"
Yuta gently squishes Ninas face. "Sorry lovebug."

It's been forever since Sungchan has felt anxious around Winwin and didn't feel right at home in his apartment but those feelings are brought right back when he enters it. He stays in the living room entrance, looking around like he's never been there before.
All because he keeps thinking about the things he shouldn't. Like:

2. Winwin looks insanely attractive today (and every day)
"Are you gonna sit down?" Winwin asks, looking at the male in amusement, which doesn't help Sungchan find him any less attractive.
"Oh, yeah."
"Is everything okay with you?"

The two adjust their positions so Winwin is in Sungchans arms instead, snuggling him. The action causes Sungchans heart to speed up. He tries to ignore it and focus on the TV but it's so hard when Winwin is looking so cute and all he'd love to do right now is kiss him.

He'd gotten used to Shotaro being there and even heard Hendery had come over once. He doesn't mind it. He just wishes he didn't have to share his best friend when he wants to cuddle with him.
He settles himself on the other side of Mark, squishing him between the two.

"Is this another child—foster child?" Alyssa asks at the sight of the teen girl in Renjuns studio, talking to him. Almost on instinct, she searches around for Lena and blushes when she finds Renjun smirking at her.
"Looking for someone?"

"Renjuns assistant is in the back", the teen answers.
"Oh...cool."
"Seriously?"

Alyssa clears his throat and then turns her attention back to the other girl. "Hi, I'm Alyssa."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Haeun. I'm currently not anyones foster child but maybe in the future."
At the name, Alyssas eyes flick over to Renjun, remembering what Nina said about him.
"Hey, Renju-", Lena stops in her tracks at sight of the brown-haired girl and then smiles. "Oh, hi, Alyssa. Nice to see you again."

Haeun leans into Renjun to quietly ask, "Is it just me or is there tension?"
"There's tension that I'm sure will only get worse."
"You're lucky you always get to be here to witness it."

"Is everything alright?" Lena asks.
Haeun looks at Renjun as if to ask, 'Is she really that oblivious?'
"We're fine", Alyssa answers. "What were you guys doing before I got here?"
"Just talking and showing Haeun some stuff."
"I like to come here and relax. I love the people at the orphanage but it's really loud with a bunch of kids there. And here, I'm free from doing anything. Though, I actually don't mind doing the shopping errands. It just sucks when I have kids with me and they see something they want and I can't get it for them." Renjun pulls the girl into a comforting side hug. "Luckily, Renjun was there one of the times and paid for the groceries so they could the toys they wanted. Him and his boyfriend are so cute."
"I take it Winwin is a little more friendly to her", Alyssa says, nodding towards Haeun.
"Is he mean?"
"No, but he doesn't say much to me. He just apologizes for Renjun every time he walks in here."
"Why does he apologize for Renjun?" Haeun asks, laughing.
"Have you seen his chaotic side yet?"
Haeun looks up at Renjun. "Have I?"
"A tiny bit."
"Well, if you see it fully, then you'll see why Winwin apologizes. But it's not bad, I like his chaotic side, it's funny."
"Please tell Jisung that."
"I think I have actually."
"Is that another friend of yours?"
"Yep. He's my close friends boyfriend and usually annoyed by me. But I'm working on it. I will make Jisung one of my besties."

Renjun narrows his eyes at Alyssa who just grins, looking adorable.

While she gets busy texting Haechan and Lena goes to sit down at a desk and work, Renjun pulls Haeun off the side, becoming more and more jittery by the second.
"Are you okay?" Haeun asks, noticing how uneasy the male is.
"I should be. I just wanted to talk to you about something."
"Oh, sure."
"You know how...you're not...currently anyones child or anything like that?"
"Yeah..."
Renjun gulps. "Would you like to be?"

"I've been thinking about fostering or adopting and you see me a lot anyways and I enjoy your company and-"

"Hell yes!" Haeun jumps into Renjuns arms and squeals.
"Is everything alright?" Lena asks, her and Alyssa joining the two.
"It's perfect", Haeun answers, which makes Renjun smile.
"What happened?"
"I hope you two like me 'cause I'll be here a lot more because I'm getting adopted!" Haeun squeals the last part.
"That's awesome. Congratulations", Alyssa says, hugging Renjun.
"Congratulations you two."
"Thank you."
"Oh, I gotta tell Winwin I asked."
"Tell me what?"
The four jump at his voice.
"Winwin, don't do that!" Alyssa complains. "He comes in here so silently and scares the fuck outta me. Oh shi-Renjun, can I cuss in front of your kid?"
"Your kid?" Winwin raises an eyebrow at his boyfriend.
"I asked Haeun if she wanted to be adopted and she said yes."
Winwin looks down at the teen girl. "Are you happy?"

"Good."
Haeun hesitates for just a second before lunging at Winwin to hug him. The man laughs and hugs her back tightly and caresses her hair.
"Wait, does Miss Dana or Miss Marsha know?"
"Yep. We told them we'd talk to you about it."
Haeun pulls Renjun into her and Winwins hug so she's squished between the two and squeals against Winwins chest, feeling overjoyed.
"Oh my God, I have to tell my best friend. Do you mind if I call her right now?"
"Go right ahead."
It only takes a few seconds before Haeun squeals into her phone. "Oh my God, Alya!"
The four adults giggle at her.
"I'm glad you're gonna adopt her", Alyssa tells Winwin and Renjun. "She's so happy now."
"She really likes you", Lena tells Renjun and then looks at Winwin. "None of us said hi to you, huh? Sorry, hi."
Winwin chuckles. "Hi, Lena. Hi, Alyssa." Fondness takes over when he looks at his boyfriend. "Hi, you."
Renjun giggles, ignoring the smiling women watching them and the fact that he's blushing. "Hi." He leans up to kiss Winwin and then hugs him.
"They're adorable", Lena says quietly to Alyssa who nods.
"They are."
The two make eye contact that lasts a little too long and then Alyssa ruins it by looking away, hoping Lena doesn't see her blushing. Because she's looking away, she doesn't see Lena smile at her.
Winwin and Renjun do however. Lenas eyes widen and she shakes her head aggressively. Haeun laughs when she sees it.
"What's happening here?"
"Nothing", Alyssa answers a little too quickly.
Haeun nods in understanding. "Ah, got it." She turns to Winwin and Renjun. "Is it okay if I see my friend later? She's kind of demanding it. And she said she wanted to meet you to threaten you two but I'll make sure she doesn't."
"Haeun, let her and then record it and send it to me. Oh, I gotta add you to the girls groupchat", she begins walking away with the teen but they can still still hear her say, "That's where you send the video, okay?"

When he looks at Nina, he sees her bottom lip trembling and immediately pulls her into a hug. Slowly, he pulls her phone out of her hands and easily gets it. He places it face down on the table and focuses on the girl by holding her tightly and kissing her head. It relaxes Nina but she knows what would help her most of all and she knows she's not gonna get it which makes her sadder.

It was finally the day.
All week, Yuta had been leaving hints that he was planning a surprise. He'd caught his boyfriends giggling about him a few times but he didn't mind because they're cute and seem convinced it's just another date.
Which also means they're amused when seeing that they're right.
Doyoung grins at the romantically decorated living room. "Tae, I told you it was a date."
"I wonder what's in here", Taeyong says, looking at the gift box on the couch.

Taeyong doesn't hesitate to take off the lid and becomes confused at the three ring pops inside a box way bigger. Doyoung sees movement out of the corner of his eye and gasps when he sees Yuta on one knee. He begins repetitively talking Taeyongs arms.
"Tae, Tae, h-he-"
Taeyong looks down at Yuta and gasps. Yuta grins, hoping he looks more confident than he feels.
"I love you two so much. You make me so happy and I love being around you two. I like that all of our apartments are home for us. You two provide me warmth and comfort and you make me feel amazing." He pauses, trying to think. "You both are incredibly beautiful and so fucking special to me. I wanna be yours forever. So Taeyong, Doie." He pulls out the ring boxes and flips them open right as he asks, "Will you marry me?"
The two laugh at the sight of the ring pops, which makes Yuta laugh too. Nonetheless, they take them.
"Yes."
"Yes."
While Taeyong slips his ring onto his finger, Doyoung licks it instead. It's only after he sees Taeyongs expression that he puts it on his finger and then licks the candy again.
"Remember me?"
Taeyong lunges at Yuta and hugs him. "I love you so much."
"I love you guys too", Doyoung says right before joining the hug.
Yuta starts to laugh when they both begin to kiss him, tickling him.
"You two are perfect."
"So are you."
This entire chapter was a whole ass journey itself
