(In the Heart of the Mountain, the Upply are figuring out how to get out.)
Wu: (Pacing in front of the Team.) Here are the facts. We are lost underground, separated from our friends who are being hunted by an evil necromancer and an army of reanimated skeletons. We have very few weapons and no way out, but we are not giving in to despair. Where there is a will, there is a way, and we will find it. I want propositions.
Korgran: Propositions?
Styx: He means ideas.
Silk: (Everyone looks at her.) What are you all looking at me for? (Everyone looks away.)
Cole: Uh, I've got an idea. But this one's a little nuts.
Plundar: "This one"?
Wu: Let's hear it.
Cole: (He draws on the ground with a stick.) These are the tracks we found earlier, which I'm guessing lead to the surface.
Styx: I'm already out.
Cole: What? Why?
Styx: You said "guess." This isn't some show where everything just works out because of just one simple guess.
Vania: Hasn't all your adventures worked out in the end though?
Styx: A-
Silk: Continue.
Cole: (Sighs. Continues to draw.) And let's pretend this is the mine cart. (He takes a mushroom from Fungus's hat.) We take the wheels off, then strap the axle to the mech like a pair of giant rollerskates, and use the mech to propel the other carts back up the tracks.
Korgran: Propel?
Cole: Uh, propelling, please? (Fungus makes the mushroom glow and spin with magic.) Then, we get in the carts, and go zipping back up the tracks, like this. (He sets the mushroom on the ground, which zips along the tracks he drew, then flies up and explodes.)
Korgran: Explosion is us?
Silk: I'm out.
Cole: Minus the explosion, okay?
Silk: I'm in.
Plundar: That idea seems a little...what's the word I'm looking for?
Styx: Nuts?
Plundar: Oh yeah. Nuts.
Cole: I told you that at the start! Yeesh, nobody listens.
Silk: Well, I don't hear any other suggestions, so.... (Looks at Vania.)
Vania: So, unless you guys want to give up and just go back to Rock-Bottom...
Wu: I vote in favour of Cole's plan.
Styx: (Raises his hand.) Not much of a choice here. I'm with him.
Silk: (Makes the so-so sign.) Not as crazy as the other plans I've heard.
Styx: Wait a minut-
Fungus: As am I.
Korgran: Korgran also. And also Korgran's non-speaking axe.
Korgran's axe: Haha, you guys are bananas!
Korgran: Uh...(No notices Korgran's face.)
Styx: Hey! Rude!
Silk: Calling like I see them.
Cole: (Mutters.) Sounds just like someone I know.
Styx: Double rude! (Slaps his tail in Cole's face that doesn't bother him.)
Cole: Seriously, how does Crystal put up with you?
Styx: It's a gift.
Wu: (Clears his throat.) Well, Plundar? What do your dice advise?
Plundar: (He throws his dice away.) I'm deciding this one, and you've gotten me this far, so I'm with you all the way.
(The Upply get to work, and Cole and Wu climb into the mech.)
Cole: I don't get it! There's no buttons, no dials. How are you supposed to operate this thing?
Styx: Maybe it's one of those mechs where you ask it.
Silk: (Facepalms.) Please don't try.
Cole: Yeah, I'm not doing that. (The crystals glow at his touch.) What?
Wu: What did you do?
Cole: Nothing! I-I barely touched it!
Wu: Hmm. Is it possible that this mech is powered entirely by Elemental Energy?
Styx: Elemental Energy or whatever "Earth Energy" is?
Silk: From what the inscriptions say, the temple was created by The Darvandai tribe and the Earth Elementals.
Styx: I feel like I've been saying this a lot but, "so?"
Cole: (He touches the crystals again, and the mech powers up.) Haha! This is gonna be a piece of cake! (He nearly crushes the others on the ground.)
Styx: Dude!
Cole: Sorry, my bad!
Plundar: Uh, left. A little left!
Korgran: Careful!
Silk: Keep it together!
Wu: Cole! Concentrate!
Cole: Okay, I think I've got it now. You can do this. It's just like walking on roller skates. On really big, giant-sized roller skates.
Styx: Would you stop talking to yourself?!
Cole: You do it too!
Styx: (Silk looks at him.) Do not!
Cole: Do too!
Silk: It's not something to be ashamed off you know. Isolation can do that to a person.
Cole: Woah! (He slips again and falls.) Whoops, uh, sorry about that! (He gets up, but falls again, nearly crushing Adam.) Whoops. Uh, sorry, Adam!
Plundar: Adam says it's not okay! (Pats Adam who seems to have no problem with it.)
Cole: Uh...oops! (Almost slips before grabbing the wall.)
Wu: Cole.
Cole: This is ridiculous! (The mech starts glowing white, throughout the orange.) Huh? Where did the white come from?
Silk: That's it! (Wu, Cole, and Styx look at her.) Just like the temple, it takes both Human and Serpentine to get this mech moving.
Styx: Okay, I guess I'm doing this. Move aside! (Pushes Cole's hand and sits on a crystal.) Uh...Now what?
Silk: Channel your energy.
Styx: Yeah, okay, that totally makes sense. Uh, here goes nothing-
(The mech, newly glowed with white and orange, starts walking properly now.)
Cole: Okay, I- I mean, we definitely got it now. (Styx smiles.)
Wu: Let's go! (The mech grabs the rest of the team)
Styx: Now I see why Kai and Jay fight over the best vehicle. Driving is cool!
Cole: Uh, it's not actually drivi-
Wu: (Interrupts Cole.) Give him this.
Cole: (Looks around.) Everyone ready?
Vania: No, not really. I'm worried.
Cole: Don't be. This is gonna work!
Vania: Not that. It's...my father. If we get out of here, I'm going to have to face him, aren't I?
Cole: Yeah, but not alone. We'll be with you.
Styx: To kick his face!
Cole: Styx-
Vania: Okay. Let's do it!
Silk: What the princess said.
Cole: (Shakes his head as Styx smirks.) Here goes nothing! (He powers up the mech.)
Plundar: Is it too late for me to change my mind?
Styx & Silk: Yes.
(As the mech starts to run and lands into the cart. Wu almost falls out of the cart at a sharp turn.)
Korgran: (He grabs Wu in time.) No no!
Wu: This is outrageous!
Vania: Cole, the Lava Monster. What if it's still in the cave, waiting for us?
Cole: What, just standing there, staring at a wall? No way, I'm sure he's gone back to his-
(They find the Lava Monster waiting for them, and scream as it chases them.)
Silk: You were saying?!
Styx: (Puts his tail around a crystal.) Come on! Go faster!
Cole: Eat our dust! (He accelerates with Styx.)
Wu: You did it, Cole and Styx! We're losing him!
Fungus: (They enter a cave with Dire Bats.) Oh, dear.
Cole: (They fight the Bats. Cole swats a Bat away.) Get off! Whew. Hey! (The Lava Monster catches up.) You again?
Styx: Seriously, does he know when to quit!? Where's the inbuilt weapon in this thing!?
Cole: It's a 500-year-old mech, of course, there's no wea-
Styx: (Smacks a bunch of other crystals before a sword comes up.) Hah!
Cole: (Styx fights it with the mech.) This thing has a sword?!
Vania: Cole, the mine cart. Stop the mine cart!
Wu: Cole!
Silk: Styx!
Cole: (He sees the cart sliding.) Master Wu!
Vania: Hurry, Cole!
Silk: We're going to fall!
Vania: We're not gonna make it!
Cole & Styx: (Looks at each other.) Yes, we will!
(Together, the two destroy the Lava Monster and catch the carts in time.)
Korgran: This stone thing flies too?
Silk: Guess so.
Korgran: Ah! Snake! (Hides behind Plundar who facepalms.)
Cole: You guys okay?
Wu: We're going too fast!
Cole: I can't slow it down! The lava's overheating the controls!
Styx: (Stands on Cole's shoulder.) Yeah, this is gonna get a little bumpy!
(On the surface...)
Annie: What did you say, Engelbert?
Engelbert: Me? Nothing.
Annie: Huh, but you made a sound.
Engelbert: What kind of sound?
Annie: A sound, like "Whaaaa".
Engelbert: Don't be ridiculous. Why would I make a sound like-
(The Upply burst out of the ground near the couple, screaming.)
Cole: Are you okay?
Vania: (She nods.) Oh, look! We're in the palace gardens!
Fungus: Is that the sky?
Cole: It sure is!
Silk: Been some time since I've seen the sky.
Styx: You never left the caves?
Silk: I had a duty.
Plundar: You mean we made it?
Korgran: We're out? (The Upply cheer.)
Plundar: We made it!
Korgran: We are not longer Lowly!
Fungus: We're the Upply!
Upply: Upply! Upply! Upply!
(They enter the throne room and find Chompy caged.)
Vania: (Gasps) Chompy? Did my father do this to you? Oh, that makes me mad! That makes me so mad! Just hang on, Chompy. Cole? (Cole opens the cage with his Earth Punch.)
Hailmar: Halt! (Everyone looks behind them.)
Styx: Oh, not him again...
Hailmar: Princess Vania?
Vania: Hailmar.
Misako: Get your hands off me! (She see's Cole and Styx.) Wu? Cole? Styx?
Wu: Misako!
Cole: Ms. G!
Styx: Why are you here?!
Misako: You never catch a break do you? (Wu chuckles lightly as she smiles.)
Hailmar: (He points his naginata at Cole and Styx.) You.
Vania: Hailmar, it's okay. Cole is a friend.
Hailmar: The King gave orders for the Team to be arrested. On sight! He said they are traitors.
Vania: That's not true. My father is the traitor, Hailmar. He's lying to you!
Hailmar: Stand aside, Princess.
Vania: (She looks at Silk who nods in encouragement.) Hailmar, listen. My father is lying to you. He's using you! Cole and these men, they were betrayed by my father. My father betrayed his father before him! They were cast into the mountain.
Hailmar: Stand aside, on the King's orders!
Vania: (To Cole) Go!
Cole: What?
Vania: He won't hurt me.
Silk: She's right, just go!
Cole: But-
Silk: She's royalty must I spell it out?!
Cole: Oh, right.
Wu: Cole, I will stay here. Find the others, save them!
Hailmar: On the King's orders, I command you, stand aside! (Misako steps on the other guard's foot.) Stop! I command you!
(Wu and Misako stand beside Vania with Silk on her shoulder. As Cole, Styx and the Upply run out of the palace.)
Hailmar: Attack!
Vania: (Chompy swoops in.) Chompy! (Before turning into his larger self.) Chompy...?
Hailmar: (He deflects the fire.) Stop!
Vania: (She grabs her ninjinta.) Hailmar, stand down! I command you! I am heiress to the throne of Shintaro, and your future Queen!
Hailmar: Call off your dragon!
Vania: Not until you're ready do listen!
(The two circle around each other before Hailmar charges at Vania. Meanwhile, in the dungeons, the Geckles and the Munce mine under the supervision of Re-Awakened. The Ninja watch from inside their cage.)
Nya: Ugh! (She tries and fails to open the cage.)
Kai: Save your strength, Sis. It's Vengestone.
Crystal: Kai's right Nya. (She puts her arm around Nya.) Take it easy.
Nya: Ugh. (She sits down.) The Munce had faith in me, and now look at them. Right back where they were. In chains. I can't believe we were gullible enough to trust the Skull Sorcerer.
Kai: Yep. I'm probably going down as the worst Chancellor in Geckle history.
Crystal: Hey, it wasn't your fault.
Lloyd: She's right, this was my choice to make.
Crystal: (Stands up.) "Our" choice.
Lloyd: (Smiles.) Right.
Pixal: (She looks at the Geckles.) Your choice was wise either way.
Zane: (Follows her gaze.0 Yes, I do not see that we had any other alternative.
Jay: Crystal, Lloyd, Pixal, and Zane's right. If we hadn't surrendered, he would have all of them.
Lloyd: Yeah, and at least they're still alive. There's still hope.
Skull Sorcerer: (Flies up to the cage.) Hahaha. That's the spirit, but unfortunately, there is no hope. I have decided a demonstration is needed to show my true power over this mountain.
Kai: (Walks up to the bars.) What kind of demonstration?
Skull Sorcerer: For too long, the Geckles and Munce have resisted my rule. But when they witness your destruction...
Hazza D'ur: Destruction!
Skull Sorcerer: When all hope is lost...
Hazza D'ur: Lost.
Skull Sorcerer: They will submit.
Jay: (Gulps.) What are you gonna do to us?
Skull Sorcerer: You'll perish at the talons of Grief-Bringer.
Hazza D'ur: Grief-Bringer!
Nya: Okay, that's getting annoying.
Pixal: Yes, is it really necessary to repeat every word your owner states?
Zane: Other than the impression of fear?
Kai: (Smirks.) Yeah, I don't know who to look at, you or the skull.
Jay: I'm looking at the skull, it's not as ugly. Hahaha!
(The last of the Team laugh as the Skull Sorcerer puts his fist up.)
Skull Sorcerer: Silence! Enjoy your final moments of levity.
Hazza D'ur: They will be your last.
Lloyd: (Watches the Sorcerer getting really to fly away.) Aren't you forgetting one thing?
Crystal: (Grabs the bars.) Two things.
Lloyd: Cole and Styx. They're both still out there.
Kai: Yeah, and if we know Cole and Styx, by now, they've found King Vangelis and told him everything.
Crystal: They're probably on their way to stop you right now.
Skull Sorcerer: Oh, that's right. You don't know.
(The Sorcerer transforms back into Vangelis and laughs. The Team gasps.)
Lloyd: You?
Nya: Vangelis?
Pixal: Why?
Zane: This doesn't compute.
Nya: You're a King!
Vangelis: Your friends did come to me. And I cast them both into the bowels of the mountain. Including that old fool, Wu. (He turns back into the Skull Sorcerer.)
Lloyd: You're not the first to think so. But they have a way of popping up when you least expect it.
Kai: And they're probably planning to kick your sorry butt!
Jay: Yeah!
(Quite far away, the Upply spy on the group from behind some rocks.)
Plundar: Look, the Skull Sorcerer.
Fungus: Tis' unfortunate we cannot hear what he says.
Cole: You're not missing much. Once you've heard one of those villain-speeches, you've heard them all.
Styx: Totally, all he's just saying is "Blah blah, my evil plan, blah blah, I've got you in my clutches."
Cole:: "Blah blah, I will win or rule something and nothing is gonna stop me. And blah blah, no one's gonna save you."
Skull Sorcerer: (To the Team.) No one is coming to save you. Have the courage to accept your fate.
Hazza D'ur: Fate!
Nya: (Rolls her eyes.) Sure. You're not the first one who's said that.
Jay: (Jumps up.) Yeah! I can name at least five other villains, like-
Kai: What Jay means! (Intruptes Jay.) Is that this is going to end with you behind bars and us.....uh-
Jay: Being back to our awesome selves! Like, stopping people like you! (Points.)
Kai: (Shrugs.) Yeah, sure.
(Kai and Jay high-five as Nya facepalms, Zane and Pixal watch this and shrug.)
Crystal: Even if you've got the majority of us captured.
Lloyd: As long as there's one person out there, we're going to keep fighting.
Skull Sorcerer: (Chuckles.) Your confidence is amusing. (He gets ready to leave before...)
Lloyd: Just tell us one thing. The Blades of Deliverance. It was you who stole them, wasn't it?
Skull Sorcerer: You mean...these? (Two Awakened Warriors raise the blades.)
Cole: Those belonged to my mother. (He emerges from their hiding spot, but Plundar pulls him down.)
Plundar: Are you crazy? Get down!
Styx: You can kill him later! Just get down!
Crystal: (She looks at the Blades.) So you did steal them.
Skull Sorcerer: It was no great task. The Geckles and Munce are simple creatures. Easy to deceive. And I knew they would blame each other.
Zane: Making them easier to divide and conquer.
Pixal: This was your plan all along?
Skull Sorcerer: Hmm, for the past few years, yes.
Crystal: (Clutches the bars.) Who are you doing this for?
Skull Sorcerer: (Chuckles.) Someone who is willing to pay a lot of money for a bit of vengestone...
Nya: (She looks at the carts.) That's an understatement.
Skull Sorcerer: (Gestures to the mountain.) I'm afraid everything has a price...
Crystal: It's just what you're willing to pay for it that counts... (Looks at Lloyd who shrugs as silence ensues before Jay breaks it.)
Jay: Not cool, dude! (Kai facepalms.)
Kai: (Inhales annoyed.) Seriously-
Skull Sorcerer: Now you know. May the knowledge bring you some peace in your final moments. (He flies away as the Upply watch.)
Cole: This is our chance.
Plundar: What's the plan?
Styx: Something we came up with. Right Cole?
Cole: (Nods.) Right. Fungus, you and Korgran get down there and see if you can free the Geckles and Munce. Get 'em loose and wait for Styx's signal.
Styx: And Plundar, Adam, are with us.
Plundar: Where are we going?
Cole: After those blades. If we can get those, we just might have a chance.
(The Upply split up.)
Murt: (Korgran defeats an Awakened Warrior.) Who you?
Fungus: We are here to free you. (Plundar tosses them a key.)
Murt: Oh. (He looks at the key.)
Fungus: (To Murt.) Pass the word! Wait for the signal!
(Two Awakened Warriors carry the blades to a vault.)
Cole: Excuse me. (He and Plundar punch the Warriors into the vault. Cole catches the blades.)
Styx: We'll take those off your hands. Thanks! (Adam pulls a lever and shuts the vault.)
Plundar: What now?
Cole: Get to the cages, and see if you can get my friends out.
Plundar: What about you both?
Cole: (He looks at Styx as they both smirk.) We're gonna have a word with the guy who chucked us down a mountain.
Styx: And has the nerve of thinking we were dead. You would think this guy at least looked up all our adventures.
Cole: (Laughs.) Right?
Skull Sorcerer: It is time. (To a sleeping Awakened Warrior) Sound the gong. (The Awakened Warrior continues sleeping) Sound the gong!
(The Skull of Hazza D'ur blasts the Warrior, who wakes up and quickly does so. The Munce and Geckles look up.)
Korgran: Is that signal?
Fungus: No, not yet. Just be ready.
Skull Sorcerer: (Flies up.) Hear me, Geckles and Munce! Hear and bear witness to the power that is mine! Look upon those who defied me. Look upon those in whom you placed your trust, and watch as they come to their end! Release Grief-Bringer!
Korgran: Is that signal?
Fungus: No. Not yet.
(Someone throws a rock at a Warrior, causing the cage door of Grief-Bringer to close. Cole, dressed in his Hero suit, lands in front of the Skull Sorcerer with Styx on his shouldar.)
Skull Sorcerer: Who dares?
Cole: We'll give you three guesses.
Styx: Or is it six?
Skull Sorcerer: (Looks behind him.) You! (Sees Styx.) And you!
Jay: Yes!
Zane: Cole!
Crystal: Styx!
Nya: I knew it!
Kai: (Puts his fist up.) Kick his butt, guys!
Korgran: Now?
Fungus: Yes, Korgran. (Nods.) Now!
Korgran: That's signal!
(The Geckles and Munce take off their chains at his signal.)
Murtessa: Munce and Geckle, strong together!
Gulch: Sung-ho!
(They all charge at the Awakened Warriors as the Team cheers.)
Skull Sorcerer: It's impossible. I cast you into the bowels of the mountain!
Cole: You tried. And failed.
Styx: Looks like the others you cast down made it back up. This is just your unlucky day.
Cole: And this time, we're ready for you!
Lloyd: Cole, get us out of here!
Nya: Open the cages! We can help!
Jay: Come on Styx! Just pick the lock!
Crystal: You can do this Styx and Cole! (The others look at her.) What? This is their fight.
Jay: (Adam appears near Jay, scaring him.) Aah!
Plundar: I'm on it.
Nya: Who are you?
Plundar: Plundar's the name. One of the Lowly. Except I think we're the "Upply" now.
Crystal: Um, the...who?
Plundar: We're in Cole and Styx's crew.
Kai: Cole and Styx's got a...crew? (Nya shrugs as Jay is seen hiding behind her.)
Skull Sorcerer: You have returned to your doom! You will join your pitiful friends and...
Hazza D'ur: And perish with them!
Cole: Aw, that's cute! He's like your little pet skull! Can't say the same for myself.
Styx: Oh, don't go down that road! (Chuckles as Cole charges after him as Styx turns invisible.)
The Ninja Except Cole: Ninja, go!
(The Ninja do Spinjitzu as they jump off the cage and onto the ground.)
Jay: Need some help?
Murtessa: Hi, my sweet Jay.
Jay: (Nya looks at him unamused.) Hehe.
Skull Sorcerer: You cannot win! I'm stronger than you, the both of you! I'm more powerful!
Cole: Maybe! But we've got these!
Skull Sorcerer: Your faith is misplaced! (Grief-Bringer escapes his cage.) The blades are nothing!
Hazza D'ur: They are powerless!
Skull Sorcerer: I studied them! There is no magic in them! Your mother may have created them with the help of the Serpentine, but they do nothing!
Styx: Uh-huh, just stay in your denial, we're used to it.
Skull Sorcerer: (Looks at Styx.) They have no power! None from the Elemental Master before you nor the Ultimate Powers of your Darvandai Tribe ancestry!
Cole: Nice try! But these defeated Grief-Bringer. So we're betting they can defeat you! (He backs up.)
Skull Sorcerer: (He flies back.) If that is what you think, you will be sorely disappointed!
Styx: I think you'll be the one who's disappointed.
Cole: (Lightly chuckles.) Heh, and you talk too much.
(Cole and the Sorcerer run as they jump and leap at each other. With the Old Relic and a Darvandai face to face as the Elemental Master of Earth and the Curropted King get ready to slash at each other.)
