Jaemin looks up and smiles at Mark as he pockets his phone. "Yeah. Just my friend."
"Oh. You looked worried."
Jaemin shakes his head abstractedly, mulling over his conversation with Haechan.
Mark is about to ask if he's okay again when he shoots his head up suddenly. "Hey, Mark?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you...", Jaemin takes a deep breath,"will you go on a date with me? Just us?"
Mark is fully aware that he's significantly less nervous than when Haechan asked him on a date but he doesn't dwell on it as he processes the request.
He finds himself smiling shyly, fully aware of his flushed face. "Yeah, I'd like."
Jaemin squeals. "You're so fucking cute, you know that?"
I can't decide if that's hot or cute
"You are too."
Just like every other time, the way Jaemins eyes flutter and he smiles with the pretty pink blush on his face gets Mark.
He doesn't understand it, how someone is so gorgeous. And he really doesn't get how sometimes Jaemin seems to genuinely not know.
How can he not know?
"Um", Jaemin says, catching his attention. "I kinda like to plan so we can talk about our future date."
How am I supposed to not kiss him?
How am I supposed not to do anything?
Unsure that he can stand to do nothing, Mark brings Jaemin into an unexpected hug that makes him gasp with surprise. Jaemin isn't sure which feeling to focus on, his heart or the coziness he gets from being in Marks arms.
"We can talk like this", Mark says.
Jaemin grins even brighter. "I'm completely fine with this."

Ten minutes later, Chenle responds to the groupchat, confusing them all.

It makes much more sense when Jaemin receives a knock on his door and finds the pinkette on the other side of it.
Before he can ask what he's doing there, he's being strangled in a hug and soothingly told sweet nothings.
Jaemin didn't know he needed this until now. Especially when Chenle gently leads them to his bed, lays him down, and cuddles him, occasionally giving him kisses.
"What's this for?" Jaemin asks.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Jaemin", Chenle sighs and caresses his hair. "You're perfect. And nothing could change that about you. So..."
Chenle reaches for the black, plastic bag he'd tossed to the edge of the bed. Almost nervously, he hands it to Jaemin and gives him a look that says 'open it'.
When Jaemin peeks into the bag, he doesn't know what it is at first, just seeing yellow. But he pulls it out and feels tears form in his eyes.
It's a crop top.
But not just any a crop top.
It's a yellow cropped t-shirt, similar to the one he already ones except this one has a simple message written in bold, white lettering.
'I am perfect', it reads.
"When did you get this?"
"I saw it and thought it was cute so I've just had it but wasn't sure I'd ever wear it. This is perfect for you."
Jaemin nods, even more tears streaming down his face as he turns to tackle Chenle in a hug. He cries against his neck, feeling so loved and so accepted. So seen.
"I'm really glad I met you", Jaemin mumbles, almost unintelligibly.
"Me too, baby." Chenle kisses the top of his head. "I love you so much."
"I love you more."
"Jisung told me it's mean to argue with people who are crying."
"Whatever", Jaemin mumbles sassily, tightening his arms around the pinkette.
"I'm not going anywhere, don't worry."
"Promise?"
Chenle coos. "I promise. I'll tell Jisung that I'll be back tomorrow."
"Is it bad that I'm glad you're staying? Am I being selfish?"
"I don't really like driving at night so I wouldn't want to go and I had no intention of leaving you. It's okay to be happy and want things for yourself. That's being normal."
Jaemin nods against him, feeling too exhausted to speak. He snuggles even further against Chenle when he resumes whispering sweet nothings to him.

"Mark!" Darci squeals, running over to hug him.
"Hi birthday boy", Chenle greets, giving the male and expectant look.
Darci rolls his eyes and pulls away from Mark—not before kissing his cheek—to hug him. Ten appears and greets his friends, laughing at the way Jaemin is hugging him.
More and more of their friends join them, all greeting the people they know and introducing themselves to the ones they don't.
"Why does Jisung look happier to see him than he ever does with us?" Haechan asks Jaemin, pointing to their best friend hugging Yuta.
Yuta smiles and sticks his tongue out, annoying Haechan anymore 'cause he looks cute.
"Aw, don't worry", Jisung says, pulling away from Yuta and hugging the brunet. "You know I love you and Jaemin the most."
"Jeno, Mark! I love you guys the most."
Jisung rolls his eyes at his boyfriend while he hugs his best friend tighter and pulls Jaemin into the hug.
"Is there a reason we're all standing outside?"
Mark gasps and runs over to hug the male. "Johnny!"
Johnny laughs and pats Marks back gently. "Someone told us you missed us."
Mark pulls back to look up at his friend but then he notices the person next to them.
"Jaehyun!"
"I missed you."
"I missed you too", Mark mumbles, face squished against his chest.
"That's adorable."
Chenle grins as he takes a picture, gaining their attention.
"Lele!"
Jaehyun shoves Mark off of him and goes to hug the pinkette, making his friend pout. Mark feels better when he feels Johnny's arms around him which he holds onto.
"Hi", Johnny greets the unfamiliar people. "I'm Johnny. That's Jaehyun. And besides Lele, we're Marks best friends."
"That see me like four times a year."
"You can visit us too!"
"You're always busy and I'm awkward!"
"Should we take this inside?" Em appears, holding a drink.
The group nods and enters the house, all staying close to each other.
Until Jaemin sees someone else he knows and leaves them.
"Jungwoo!"
"Jaemin!"
They're all so busy with catching up that they fail to notice the male hidden behind them, who looks almost paranoid.
"Wait!" Jisung says loudly. "Where's Cookie?"
"Cookie?"
Jisung weaves through their small crowd and finds Haechan. Worry fills him when he sees his expression. Jisung grabs his hand and tugs him to the spot beside him. He doesn't question it when Haechan holds onto his arm like he's afraid of losing him.
"You guys thirsty?" Em asks.
Most of them nod but not Jisung and Haechan. Jisung places a hand on his boyfriends shoulder to get his attention.
"We'll be right back."
After the pinkette nods, Jisung leads Haechan back outside and away from the entrance of the house.
"I'm okay", Haechan says after a minute. "I just think that Darci is friends with someone I really don't want to see and I think he's here."
"Do you wanna ask him?"
Haechan shakes his head. "I don't even wanna say his name. Also, I forgot what it's like to be at a party and I feel like I can breathe less in there."
Jisung brings his friend into a hug and lightly caresses his hair while he relaxes. When Haechan is ready, he nods and feels Jisung grab his hand.
When they walk in, the hallway is even more crowded, causing him to almost hide behind Jisung to walk, Haechan being sure to keep a tight grip on Jisungs hand.
They find their friends in the living room, most of the people from before still with them.
With nothing to distract them, they finally focus on each others costumes.
"Usually magicians wear more clothes, Lele", Johnny says to the pinkette.
Chenle smiles his adorable smile as he replies, "This one doesn't. My actual Halloween costume might be even more revealing."
Jaemin accidentally gasps out loud, giving away the fact that he knows what it is. He shakes his head when they all look at him. "I can't tell you."
"Jaemins outfit will be similar to mine."
Jisung, Mark, and Haechans eyes but as they stare at the now-blushing male.
"Why don't you look surprised?" Jaehyun asks Jeno, pointing to him.
"I know my best friend and I'm not surprised he dragged someone else into whatever costume he planned."
"Send me and Ten a picture", Jungwoo says quietly to Jaemin, getting a nod in response.
"Ten! Yuta! Jaehyun! Johnny! Get your asses up and come help me."
"Duty calls."
Jaehyun, Johnny, and Yuta all get up in go in the direction that Darci called them from. Ten grins when his best friend appears a few seconds later, hands on his hips.
"Ten."
"Yes, honey?"
Darci sighs and moves in front of Ten to drag him off the couch. Ten waves as he follows his friend down the hallway.
Chenle and Mark burst out laughing when Johnny appears, balancing two plates of cake and swerving people, exaggerating his shoulder movements.
"He reminds me of Haechan."
"I think you two would get along", Mark tells the brunet.
Haechan nods awkwardly, unsure of how to respond.
"Unfortunately, awkwardness doesn't scare me away. We're dancing later."
"Um.."
"You didn't say no, good enough. I'll be back later."
Mark nods at him before he disappears into the crowd of people. Yuta, Jaehyun, Ten, Dari, and Em all come back, holding plates of cake as well.
"Thank you", Jaemin says, the rest following.
"No problem. I have three cakes so let me know if you want more."
"Why do you have three?"
"Ten's been begging to get my birthday cake so I let him and he didn't really agree with Em so Em got me one from him and my parents sent me the other one. Em's is completely different but my parents got me one similar to the one Ten got."
"That's nice of them."
Darci nods. "Do any of you want a drink?"
"We can get it ourselves. You're the birthday boy."
"Yeah", Chenle agrees. "Stop catering to us and go stuff your face then dance it off with your boyfriend."
Darci chuckles and nods. "Yes, sir."
Em slides an arm around Darci's waist and smiles at the group. "We'll be back later."
"Okay."

My cramps are the literal worst and there's probably a tiny demon going at my insides with a mallet
