Hobi POV
I was worried when Y/N took a while to come back from the bathroom. Being in a new place with so many sounds, sights, and smells was already putting me on edge, but now that I couldn't quickly locate my person I was even more nervous.
Was she upset at us for how we were with Jin? I knew she probably wouldn't be happy that we weren't very friendly, but maybe she was really mad. Maybe she was mad that Yoongi disappeared for a while. Maybe she was leaving us with Lisa while she escaped out the back door.
Stop it Hobi, you know Y/N wouldn't do that. And look, her phone, wallet, keys, everything is still here at the table.
I calmed myself down, and tried again to look for her. I couldn't locate her by scent since there were too many strong smells in here, and she wasn't making any noise loud enough for me to single out. I briefly noticed Yoongi looking for her too.
After a few seconds, I spotted her just outside the bathrooms... talking to a man. She was frowning, and he looked like he was calmly explaining something to her. Who was this man? Did she know him? It didn't seem like she knew him. What was he saying to her?
Y/N's eyes darted in our direction for a moment, as if she was looking for us too, before her attention was back on the man. After a little while he handed something to her and walked away. I quickly returned my gaze onto the food in front of me.
As Y/N got back to the table she was fiddling with her pocket. It must be the thing the man gave her. She still had a slight frown, but quickly smiled again once Rose offered her a piece of meat she cooked herself.
I tried to breathe in her scent, at least the man was a human, and not another imposter hybrid. I would have to interrogate her later.
Jin POV
"You smell nice"
I rolled my eyes. At least he couldn't smell the pure anxiety I had on me.
"What's wrong?" The other quickly asked.
Dammit.
"Nothing, I just... just didn't make that much today" I mumbled.
I placed the guitar case on the floor, and sat down in front of it, slowly unzipping it and starting to count the money.
"It's not like she would call Hybrid Services or anything. Hell, she'd probably ask you if you wanted to come live with us"
Those words repeated over and over in my mind. The more I heard them in my head, the more I thought about living with Y/N.
Sure, I'd thought about it before. I thought about a lot of potential owners, but Y/N was definitely the most realistic option in my mind. She was kind, she already helped me out and bought me a meal, I was sure she would be an amazing owner.
Yoongi sure looked healthy, the other 2 did as well. I could tell they were very protective over her. A hybrid wouldn't be protective over an owner they didn't like right? She would definitely be taking care of them.
She could take care of us.
No, Jin! You promised you wouldn't invade his home!
I suddenly recalled more of our conversation, Yoongi mentioning them giving her a hard time because she smelt like another hybrid. She smelt like me. Although the thought of that made me very happy, it also made me feel bad that I was the cause of her stress at home. I caused the tension between her family.
It's ok Jin, now they know. Yoongi didn't seem to hate your guts, and at least they won't hassle her about it anymore.
"Hello, Earth to Jin?"
I snapped out of my thoughts, and looked at the injured hybrid in front of me.
"Sorry, come here, let me change the bandages" I motioned him to sit in front of me.
"What were you thinking about?"
"Nothing... nothing"
She could take care of us. We would be safe with her.
Y/N POV
"So who was that man?" Hobi inquired as soon as we got home.
In the car all they would talk about was the food, and how they liked Rose and Lisa, and for a moment I thought I was off the hook.
"Oh, you saw that?" I said, suddenly feeling nervous. They could probably smell it.
"Yes, who was he?" Yoongi piped up as well.
I sighed and plonked my bag on the table, before plonking myself on the couch. Should I lie? No, what reason do I have for lying? There's nothing wrong with what happened, it's not like I signed Yoongi up for some weird experimentation.
"He was from the Hybrid Research Centre" I started to answer their question when I noticed they all stiffened.
"Don't worry! I'm not dumping you there or anything! He was just curious."
"Curious about what?" Jimin looked so small, he was holding onto Yoongi's arm as if it would protect him from whatever I was about to say.
I felt my heart break a little at seeing this. Did Jimin not trust me? Was he that scared that I would give him up, or sell him to scientists?
"Guys!" I exclaimed a little louder than intended. "I hope you didn't forget what I told you? That I'm not giving you up? Not returning you to the shelter? I'm also not going to dump you at the research centre either, in case that needed clarifying."
They didn't say anything, just shuffled a bit on their feet.
"He was interested in you, Yoongi" his gaze shot up from the floor at this. "Said something about panther hybrids being rare, wanted to know if we'd be interested in helping their research."
I tried to make it sound as non-scary as possible. Yoongi just stared at me a little and I noticed Jimin's hold on him got a little tighter.
"I obviously didn't agree to anything, he just gave me his card" I pulled out the card from my pocket and flicked it around in my fingers a little.
"What kind of research?" Yoongi broke the silence, sounding almost... scared?
"Guys" I sighed again, feeling bad that they got so nervous about things like this.
"I'm never going to force you to do anything you don't want to do, you know that right? I would never just agree to something like this without talking to you first"
Hobi shuffled forward and collapsed onto the couch, resting his bodyweight against me. I cooed softly and pulled him into a hug.
"I know you haven't been here very long, but you guys are my family now. I would never do anything that hurts my family"
Jimin slowly moved to sit on the other side of me, pulling Yoongi along with him. We all sat like this for a little while. I didn't really want to move. I just wanted to close my eyes and enjoy this peace.
After some time, Hobi stood up and grabbed onto my hand. I looked up at him questioningly and squeezed his hand.
"Can we sleep with you again tonight?" He sounded sleepy.
"Aww of course you can, come on" I got up as well and motioned for the other 2 to follow. I flicked the card onto the coffee table.
We all got ready for bed, I snuggled down under the covers and waited for the others to come. I soon heard little pitter pattering of feet, and before I could turn to see the culprit, I felt him jump on top of me.
I grunted at the sudden weight on my stomach, and turned onto my side so that the cheeky fox would slide off. It worked and Hobi curled into my stomach on top of the bed instead. I smiled and scratched between his ears.
Yoongi came in shortly after, holding a fluffy Jimin in his arms, and I nearly died from the cuteness. There was some unspoken agreement that Yoongi would stay human, while the other 2 would be in animal form. We would all fit in my bed this way.
After everyone was tucked in and the lights were off, I allowed myself to become immersed in warmth, and started getting lost in my thoughts. These guys had literally only been here a week, and yet I felt like so much had happened.
God, I've put them through so much already.
I hope they are happy here.
