Legend

Into the morning, everything was good. I was feeling better as I woke up to breakfast. It was a whole spread she cooked up, I was grateful for her for all she's done. I laid between her legs the whole morning, as she stroked my hair, to make up for the time we lost with me being sick. In between then I was getting a distress call from Heavy. I tried ignoring the call, but I had to take it. Something so damn important came up that I needed to meet him at the spot so he says, apparently, this shit couldn't wait. Skye was heated, but she wasn't trying to display it.

"How long are you going to be gone?"

"About 30 minutes tops, I promise." Grabbing my jacket, I bundled up. Bracing through the cold, I met up with this nigga. When I arrived, I was faced with two other people. I told this fool already I don't fuck with people too much like that. It's how you slip up and trust the wrong ones that get you killed.

"Wanted you to meet two people that is going to help us rack up on bread. You say you in this only temporary, well you might as well get all you can. Legend, this is my cousin, Taraji, coldest bitch you will ever meet, and good at what she does. This sticky finger nigga right here is Rock, the nigga who can get you anything in hard places. The real pharmaceutical shit, he knows tons of lawyers and doctors, just waiting to buy us out. He ain't afraid to make runs state to state neither."

"Hold up, hold up, wait a minute. You calling this nigga a Legend? He look like a sorry ass fable to me." Taraji commented. This Dej Loaf, short in stature, blunt, dyke hair cut, looking wannabe, tried addressing me. She tried holding on strongly with her tough persona, but no offense, all I see is another bitch. Not your typical looking dyke, or whatever the hell she is, this one actually had a cute face.

"Nah, send them back, I'm good." I stated.

"Send us back? Nigga, do we look like a factory recall to you? Fuck this cat, Heavy, you don't need his ass." She barked back.

"My trust don't run that deep sweetheart, you can walk for all I care, don't mean shit to me. Let's not forget that y'all came to me though, while you trying to wipe your ass with those ten dollars bags. I know how to triple my shit at the end of the day." I said.

"Wait, man, come on, give them a try. How much you think you going to make off these dime bags? You want respect on these streets, you going to have to earn it, you need to move fast show these cats out here that you not playing games. Give them a trial run, right now, we can snatch something up to cook, then set up base and sell a little something something tonight," Heavy pleaded his case. I sighed, thinking I'll try them out, I just need to continue to stay ahead.

Never let these niggas know the real situation and always keep them at bay. By doing so, I can protect my own ass by seeing what they are about first.

After devising a plan to get them on their feet, I made a list of the things I needed and the shit I want them to get done. Heavy and Rock were in charge of getting the narcotics and making phone calls to their so called buyers. Taraji and I sat back at the spot, with nothing to do, we silently sat in the prep room. Stares that can cut with a knife traded between the both of us. I'm watching alright, we going to see what you about soon.

"Hurt your arm flicking the bean too much last night?" I asked, noticing the arm brace on her right arm.

"Cute, supposed to be a gay joke?"

"Can be whatever you want, clearly you know what I'm asking."

"Don't worry, this arm don't affect how I conduct my activities. Right hand holds the weed, while the left is feeling on your bitch's bean."

I chuckled a bit, responding, "don't think you her type."

"I'm nobody's type 'til they try a bitch out, got the shit that can make a nigga and bitch go crazy. Just ask my ex."

"I bet, I'll pass though, if you insinuating a chance."

"Don't flatter yourself, nigga, not a chance in hell."

Heavy walked in with bags after disappearing for damn near two hours with Rock. "Showtime, Taraji, we have some orders already. Get the whipping."

"Nigga, your fat ass better not order me to a damn thing again! You ask and come correct when you address me next time!"

"What orders we talking about?" I asked.

"Lean, couple pounds of coke, and some weed."

"Lean is my department, if you all impress me tonight, I'll save you some." I said.

"Pause, we don't work for you! We ALL bosses in this!"

"Sorry, I can tell you like to be in control. But these streets and this prep room are like my bedroom, and just like in both domains, I always take charge. If you going to run with me, you going to follow my rules or you can do this by yourself."

"You serious? Hev, you hear this?" Heavy listened to Taraji and shook his head in disagreement. "Rock, you down with this too?" He also shook his head in disagreement. Once she was shut down with the status quo, she shut up and went back to work.

"He ever talk?" I asked Heavy, referring to Rock.

"Only when deemed necessary, but you'll hardly hear a peep from his wanna be mute ass."

"His ass going to need to announce himself when walking in a room."

"You should probably be more worried when he do talk." Taraji said, as she started cooking. We had to share the prep station as I concocted my shit, tension was there as she shoved and walked into me. We started off on the wrong foot, but I usually hardly ever apologize. Within a good thirty minutes we were good to go. We dropped off all the orders first, I made sure I wore things that didn't give away too many features of my face. I wasn't ready to start this early moving dope yet. I'm not ready just yet for people to start hearing about me.

Shit was moving fast once we beat the pavement, transactions and prices can't be set without my say. If things are going to get done, it's going to be me making sure it gets done the right way. I added returning customers to my list of 'go sees.' By the end of the orders, we still had a little more stuff to put out, Heavy showed me the good locations and we stood out there pushing what we could.

"How much we got so far?" I asked Taraji.

"Let's see, between the couple bottles of dirty Sprites, sling shot rocks, and coke. My figures counted out to a good $3,000."

"Nope, can't forget the run we did earlier, I pinched an extra grand." Heavy said.

"A thousand each!" Taraji smiled, stuffing hers in her bra.

"Nah, I doubted y'all, but everyone really came through, so split up my portion. At the prices y'all was trying to sell, we would had made half that. I don't know how y'all do, but that's not how I go out. We make good quality shit, we never selling our shit short. If consumers have a problem with it, fuck'em. We about to be big out here, they won't be able to say no to our prices. All special orders we going big on, any regular bags, we won't worry too much about. Got it?"

"Told y'all, true fucking business man in the making." Heavy said, patting my shoulders.

"You do know when people aren't buying into your jacked up prices, they going to buy those dime bags you so highly said I would be wiping my ass with, right?" Taraji added.

"I been doing this longer than you, and much better than you. I know what I'm doing. Since you wanna reiterate a nigga so badly, you can also point out the fact that I said you can walk if you don't feel like being down with my ways."
Giving me a death stare, she shut her mouth and stayed around. We parked around the corner from the original corner we sold at.

As we made a turn, some dude popped out the side alley way that I was walking pass, and pointed a gun at me. Another two came out the darkness from behind, casing their hands in brown bags, pointed towards the rest of them. From my younger instincts, I took a guess in saying the other two don't have guns. Why you hiding your weapon if you about that life? As for the nigga pointing a gun at the side of my head, I couldn't make any assumptions.

"Give me it, all of it!" He demanded.

"Let's take it easy, man." Heavy said.

"Shut up, nigga, give me everything y'all got."
Taraji analyzed him and sensed his fear and a bit of mine too, she walked up on him without a problem.

"Bitch, you better get back." He shouted.

"Man ... That glock ain't even real, it's a fucking BB gun!"

All I had to hear that it wasn't real and I reacted, she pushed him and knocked his ass down on the ground. One of them darted, but the other got clocked by Heavy. Both Taraji and I was fucking his bitch ass up, almost got jacked by some weak ass street punks. I made sure the one nigga sat slumped in the alley after we all entered the car heading back to the spot. Once there, we made sure nobody was lurking around this time.

"How did you know it wasn't real?" I asked.

"I seen a lot and held a lot of them to know the difference. But do I need to get you a fresh diaper, or you good?"

"Glad you got your laugh on, I was good though. It actually gave me a rush. I haven't had fun like that since I was sixteen."

"I bet, so where's that leftover of that lean you was talking about? I want to taste how good it is, according to you."

"Don't doubt me just yet, I'll have them niggas begging for more."

"I bet you do, gay ass self."

"Alright, I walked into that one. Here, just try it. Everybody drink up, you did pretty good. Maybe this won't be so bad."

"To family," Heavy said, raising his bottle.

"Family," Rock said, doing the same.

"Something like that," Taraji reacted the same.

"I wouldn't call it that just yet, but props given to everyone tonight." I said, drinking up with everyone.

"Damn, it's type good, but not better than mine." Taraji suggested.

"Put your money up on it then," I said, taking another sip.

"Nah, you not ready for that yet." We sipped into the late night, I don't usually partake in my own products, but I figured tonight was a suitable occasion. I never drink a full bottle, I'm not that damn stupid. I ain't trying to get fucked up. Like I said, I always try once to make sure what I'm selling is good. Tonight was sort of a good one, I already know that Skye is going to tear me a new one when I get back to the crib. I messed up today for staying out longer than I said would and didn't even check in to tell her what was going on.

After finishing up with this new found clique, I went home. Skye was right where I left her, sitting steaming on the couch. "Where the hell -- " She started, but I cut her off.

"I already know what you going to say," I began to mock her voice. "Where the hell you been, nigga? You couldn't call me? How dare you? You ain't shit! Mmm hmm," I snapped my fingers, finishing up.

"You think this shit is funny?" She asked, as I sat next to her. "You didn't call, you didn't tell me shit. You said thirty damn minutes tops, you wasted my fucking time, Legend."

"I'm sorry, you going to let me explain or you going to keep saying everything I already know?"

"If you knew so damn bad what I was going to say, why didn't you do something about it earlier and bring your ass back? You been sick and now you want to run the streets?"

"I had to handle some business, I tried coming back, but I needed to get some things out the way first and got held over. I'm sorry, I messed up this weekend for you, and I want to make it up to you."

"Sex ain't the answer right now."

"I'm not talking about sex, I'm talking about time."

"You wasted that, I have to go back tomorrow."

"Next weekend, I promise, is all yours."

She rolled her eyes. "We'll see."

"Can I get a kiss?" I looked at her, seeing if she would give in, she ain't move a muscle. With care, I grabbed her face, making her turn to kiss me.

"Next time, at least check in, that's all I'm asking. I'm not bothered you went out and stayed out, I just didn't know where you were. I'm thinking the worst since it's been a whole damn eleven hours."

"I'm the bad guy, I know, I'm sorry."
