Your POV:

We ended up back at the drug store with barely enough money to buy us a ball. We were all scrambling out of the store trying to get the box with the ball in it opened.

"Gimme a pen, gimme a pen!!" Benny yelled at us as we all frantically searched, "I got a pencil.." Timmy said, "No not a pencil a pen!" Benny scolded, "Here!" I said handing him the pen I just so happened to keep in my pocket.

"Thanks!" He said as he began attempting to recreate the signature on the baseball we'd lost, "I don't know Benny man..." Kenny said as Benny tried to write the best he could on the ball, "Yeah yeah looks kinda crappy" Yeah yeah critiqued.

"It doesn't matter what it looks like! His mom's never gonna know the difference" Benny explained, "This'll just buy us some time ya dorks!" He said completing the signature.

Later that day, we'd gotten home to see Scotty's mom had gotten back from the airport, I handed the ball to Scotty, "Look, this is your mess, you can put the ball up" I said in an aggravated tone as we both entered the house. I went straight to my room.

Scotty's POV:

I let myself into the house with the fake ball in my hand. I walked through the house to the trophy room and went straight to the stand where the original ball once was.

"Scotty?" I heard my mom calling my name from down the hall, almost scaring me half to death, "uhh in here mom!" I said quickly, which was a mistake because this would just give her more time to realize the ball.

"Oh hi honey!" She said in a sweet voice, "what are you doing in here?" She asked, "Oh just looking at Bill.. I-I mean Dads baseball..." I said, as if my guilt was trying to escape by drawing attention to the ball.

"You know he doesn't like you to touch his things" she said in a motherly tone, this was my chance, "Yeah I know... sorry mom" I said keeping my head low, trying to make a break for the door.

She immediately stopped me, "Has he ever told you about that ball?" She asked looking up to admire it, "Oh uh.. no not really" I couldn't help but trip over my own words, "I-I don't think so.. nah.. nah he hasn't at all, umm... I don't, I don't know anything about it.."

"Babe Ruth signed that ball" she said as if I wasn't reminded five hundred times before, "he was the greatest baseball player who ever lived" she explained, "R-really?" I asked trying to keep my guilt repressed.

"Sure is" she said with a smile, "he told me his father gave him that ball, maybe some day he'll give it to you" I immediately shook my head and actually told one truth that day, "Oh.. nah.. he'll probably give it to (Y/n)... I mean she is his daughter"

Your POV:

The next day after Scotty planted the fake ball, we all met up at the treehouse overlooking the Sandlot to try and come up with a plan to get the original ball back. I couldn't lie, I was pretty upset with Scotty... mostly because my dad had promised me that he'd gift me that ball some day.

I remember the story he told me about that ball, my mother had gifted it to him on his birthday after I was born. I tried to shake my anger away and just tried to come up with a plan like everyone else.

"Hey I got it!" I said sitting upright from the position I was laying on the treehouse floor, making all of them turn their heads, "Why don't we just go over there, knock on the door, and ask this Mr. Myrtle guy if he can-"

"Are you out of your mind!" Squints yelled, sitting upright as well, "Mr. Myrtle is the meanest old man who's ever lived! He's the one who made The Beast eat that kid! It's not an option (Y/n), forget about it!!!"

"Hey! At least she's trying to think of something! I don't see you coming up with any big ideas, Squints!" Benny yelled, shocking the whole treehouse by defending me.

"Geez Benny," Ham said, "what's got your underwear in a twist?" He asked, he glanced over at me then back to the floor, "It's nothin" he said, I couldn't help but be a bit sad.

"You okay, Benny?" Scotty asked, "I said I'm fine!" Benny said, now getting defensive, leaving the rest of the treehouse in an awkward silence. "Let's just look out the window" Squints suggested.

There was nothing really better to do, so we all got up off our rears and made our way to the window, looking out into the dirt covered yard. All of a sudden, a ball, the ball, rolled out of The Beasts hiding spot.

"He's daring us!" Timmy suggested, I and everyone agreed, although it seemed strange to me why he was doing that. "Anyone got any bright ideas?" Benny asked.

"How about we hop the fence?" I suggested, "Hell no!!" Benny yelled, "Are you crazy? I'm not letting you anywhere near that fence!!" I could tell that he was just worried, which I found pretty sweet, I could feel my face heat up a bit.

"Well like you said, I don't see anyone else coming up with any better ideas!" I retaliated, then all of a sudden, Ham had a suggestion, "I got it!!"

Plan #1

The plan was that Ham would get a wooden pole, long enough to reach underneath the fence towards the ball, which was sitting right in the open. Squint volunteered to keep watch at the top of the treehouse.

"Farther" Squints whisper/yelled down to us, and Ham pushed the pole farther. "Just a little bit farther..." Squints said in the same tone.

Out of nowhere, a gigantic paw steps on the end of the pole making everyone of us scream in terror! We tried to help Ham pull the pole back out of the hole, until we finally got it loose. Although whenever we finally pulled it back through, the pole was broken and covered in saliva.

"Ugh gross!" I said, Ham just stared at the stick for a second, screamed and threw the pole far away from the group.

Plan #2

The second plan was... well it was basically the exact same as the first plan, only the pole was metal, and at the end we taped an old cooking pot we found to the end of it.

"Farther" Squints whispered once more as Hame repeated the same steps as before, "Go to the right a bit!" Ham said to us as we tried to maneuver the pole. "A little bit farther" Squints whispered once more.

"Alright turn it turn it!" Scotty encouraged and we followed suit, flipping over the pot to scoop the ball. "Almost.." Squints said as we lowered the pot over the ball, successfully trapping it, "you got it! Pull it back!"

"I got it!" Ham whispered, "Well come on pull already!" I said trying to pull the pole back through the hole as the others did so as well, it was looking to be a straight shot from here! Until the same paw came down over the pot, we all screamed, "oh my god!!" Ham yelled as The Beast kept snarling.

Eventually The Beast pulled the pole straight through the hole sending me tumbling backwards right into Benny. The Beast kept snarling until finally, as surprising as it sounds, over the fence came the pole we'd just used, instead it was all bent out of shape.

We all walked over to look at it, "I think we seriously underestimated The Beast" Timmy said, "Obviously we're dealing with his superior intelligence" Squints added.

Plan #3

This Plan consisted of an old vacuum we happened to find. Scott, Bertram, and I were inside the treehouse making sure everything worked, "Alright guys, connecting power now!" Bertram announced.

"Power connected" I said plugging in the vacuum. The others were on the outside of the treehouse, lowering the vacuum into the back yard, "Alright, we're ready!" Ham said struggling to hold the vacuum. "Initiate retrieval suction!" Squints announced to us, "Initiate retrieval suction" Tommy repeated, "Prepare to initiate retrieval suction number one" Timmy said to Ham.

"Okay ready guys?" Kenny asked us in the treehouse, we all nodded, "Initiate retrieval suction number one!" Scotty announced, "Initiating retrieval suction number one now!" Bertram said, flipping the switch on the first vacuum.

"Fire number two!" Squints suggested, "Fire number two!" Tommy repeated. "Initiating suction number two!" I said flipping the switch on the second vacuum.

"Fire number three!" Squints said, "Firing number three now!" Scotty said turning the vacuum on its maximum level. We all heard the commotion of the boys above us, "you got it! Haul it up!" Squints yelled.

"Alright!" Ham said as they began to hoist up the vacuum. All of a sudden we heard more snarling from the yard, followed by the screams of the boys, apparently The Beast had attacked the vacuum. As we were sitting in the treehouse, the vacuums began rattling.

"What's wrong Squints!" Ham yelled, noticing the odd manner of the vacuum. "The pipe! It's pinched shut!" He said. "We gotta turn em off!" I said but Scotty stopped me by pulling me back. "We can't!! They're shorting out!!"

Bertram climbed up the ladder to tell the guys, "Guys! The vacs are clogged!" He yelled, "I don't know about you but I'm getting the hell outta here!!"

The vacuums began smoking and shorting out, "shit... go go go!!" I yelled to Scotty as we all scrambled to evacuate the treehouse, I'd waited on Benny to make sure he was okay, he cane down the ladder, "(Y/n)! Go!!" He yelled, I then slid down the fireman pole that they'd put in followed by Benny.

We then ran away from the treehouse frantically, "Hit the deck!!" Ham yelled as we all followed suit. Benny had grabbed me and drug me to the ground with him, we both hit the ground as I felt his hand protecting the back of my head. We then heard the final explosion of the vacuum, I covered my ears to drown out the sound.

Benny ended up pulling me closer than I'd anticipated to his chest, after all the commotion, we saw smoke billowing out of the treehouse, "You okay?" Benny asked me, looking at me with his worried expression. "Yeah.. yeah I'm okay" I said taking a deep breath.

He smiled and pulled me in for a hug, which I of course didn't mind, I smiled as he pulled me close. When he let go his hands were still on me and he gave me a bit of a surprise by smashing his lips onto mine as we still lay there on the ground in front of everyone.

"What the hell is this?" Ham yelled, breaking Benny and I's kiss a tad short. "What?" Benny asked with a smirk, still laying on the ground next to me. "What do you mean 'what?!'" Ham said. I didn't realize we'd attracted a crowd, "Yeah yeah you two were sucking each other's faces off!" Yeah-yeah pointed out.

"News flash guys!" Benny said helping me up off the group, "Squints here ain't the only guy who's kissed a girl!" Benny said and then there was even more commotion from the boys.

"How long has this been goin on?"
"Why didn't you tell us!?"
"(Y/n) is Benny a good kisser?!"
"I'm so happy for you guys!"

"Whoa whoa hey!" I said, "Let's not loose sight on the task at hand here!"
