FINDING THE VANISHING CABINET

Cassiopeia gripped her books tightly in her arms as she pushed through the crowd. Frowning, she walked up the stairs and into the seventh floor.

She was going to have potions, so she quickly went on because she was going to have Charms along with her fellow Slytherins.

As she went up the staircase, wondered about the vision. She felt reassured that she and Draco would actually find a way to fix the cabinet. But what she was annoyed that she had to find the damn thing.

It seemed to be a really stupid thing to be annoyed about, but having to have everything in her life easy for her, this task was difficult.

As she continued her walk, she passed by a wall. She merely glanced at it when it started to form a door. She stopped, turning to take another look. Slowly, large doors started to appear.

She just realised what floor she is in.

The room of requirements!

Cassiopeia looked around to see if there are any students before darting through the door, closing it behind her.

She lets out a cough. The room was full of dust, and various objects stacked on top of one another created a small tower of unwanted or unused objects.

Cassiopeia walked around, seeing so many broken objects. This is the exact place in her vision. Except, she couldn't see the cabinet.

It was dark and Cassiopeia's footsteps being the only sound. She took out her wand, just in case she needed it as she made her way through.

Until almost at the end of the large room, where she saw the very thing she required.

The vanishing cabinet stood, not looking like it had any damage at all other than a few scratches. She approached it, examining the cabinet. It looked like an exact copy of the one in Borgin and Burke's.

She lets out a breath if relief that she had found it in the first day of being at Hogwarts, and thanked her ability for helping her find it.

Looking around, the room of requirements seemed to be a good place to discuss things with Draco without worrying about being heard.

Cassiopeia opened the cabinet, inspecting it. Nothing seemed to be wrong in its appearance, but she knew that it doesn't work.

Closing it quickly, she shoved her wand inside her pocket before walking back to the door.

She needed to tell Draco about this as soon as she could.

***

"Where exactly are you taking me?" asked Draco, "this better be worth my time."

"Shut up and follow me," she hissed.

She had showed him the room, and Draco questioned her on how she found out about it so fast. Draco frowned as he approached the Vanishing Cabinet, he looked at her questionably.

"How'd you find it?"

"Never mind that," she said. "Have you got any letters from Mr Borgin?"

"Letters?"

"On how to repair this damn cabinet, of course!" She said.

"I have not," Draco answered, pursing his lips as he looks at the cabinet.

"Well start threatening him," Cassiopeia crossed her arms, "we cannot waste any more time. We need to know how to fix this, it might take months."

Draco nodded, as Cassiopeia started to walk away, he shouted: "you should really stop hanging out with Potter and his stupid friends,"

"I don't think that that's relevant to what we just talked about," she commented.

"I don't know why you still decide to hang out with them, I don't know if I can trust you." He spat, "you could be a spy for them!"

"I would never!" The girl said. "I hope you realise that if I were to be a spy, they wouldn't like me if they found out I'm a death eater as well!"

Draco didn't reply, Cassiopeia turned her heel and started to walk. "You and I will send letters to Borgin. Better if we both do, he'll get frightened even more."

And she did send a letter as soon as she entered the Great Hall during lunch.  Threatening to send Greyback in his shop, and then asking him to find some objects that might be helpful for them.

Hermione, Ron and Harry glanced at the girl who looked very busy. Hermione frowned.

"She might have an emergency, that's all." said Hermione.

"At the first day of school?" questioned Ron. "Quite suspicious if you ask me. I mean, we saw her with her brother in Kockturn Alley."

"You heard her, Ron. She didn't know why she was even there, her mother or anyone does not give her information," said Hermione.

"Are you sure she wasn't lying?" asked Ron.

"Harry trusts her, she went out of her way to follow us in the Department of Mysteries last year," Hermione closed her book, placing it on her lap.

"After that she got the torture curse from Voldemort," added Harry, with a slight look of guilt. "And I trust her. She won't do anything that will break that trust. We've gone through this since the first time she came to Hogwarts, we don't have to go through this every year."

"Right." Ron cleared his throat.

"And what is so suspicious about writing a letter?" scoffed Hermione.

Cassiopeia folded the letter, placed it inside an envelope. She quickly finished her food, stood up and hurriedly went to the owlery where she placed it on a school owl leg, and sending it away.

She didn't want to use her own, something might happen to her owl and she didn't want to risk it.

The rest of the day was a huge headache for Cassiopeia. She had so many things in her mind that she wished she could erase. Using the obliviate charm wouldn't fix that.

As she sat on her chair beside Blaise, Professor McGonagall continued her lecture. Some Ravenclaw students putting their hands up when Professor asked a question, lazy Slytherins answering some questions too.

Just then, Snape bursts inside the classroom, everyone turned to look at him, but his eyes were fixed on Cassiopeia.

"Minerva, may I borrow Miss Malfoy? We've got something important that is needed to be talked about." Snape said, glancing at McGonagall who nodded.

"Sure." Professor McGonagall nodded.

Confused, Cassiopeia stood up from her seat, grabbing her bag after she placed all her things inside it. Quickly, she followed Snape out of the classroom.

Cassiopeia walked out of the classroom along with Snape. Quickly, she walked next to him. "Where are we going?"

"Dumbledore wants to have a word with you," he answered, in his usual monotone voice.

"About what exactly?" Her lips turned into a straight line.

Snape did not answer, he was only giving her a side-eye, he walked faster, his robes flying like a cape behind him.

Cassiopeia muttered a curse under her breath, as they walked towards the statue, Snape said the password. They stood on the staircase that led them up to the Headmasters office.

Snape quickly opened the door, "there you are, Professor."

"Ah, Cassiopeia," said the headmaster with a soft smile. His half-moon spectacles on top of his tall nose. "Thank you, Severus. You may go."

And with that, Snape turned around and left. Cassiopeia frowned, walked towards his desk and sat on the small chair in front of it.

"You may be wondering why you're here..." said Dumbledore.

"Yes, I am," she answered. "Quite obvious, I mean. I was taken out of class."

"Indeed you were. I don't think that might be a problem, you are wonderful in transfiguration," smiled Dumbledore.

"Thanks..." said Cassiopeia, uncertainly. "What am I actually doing here, Professor?"

"After the term last year, how did you manage to be free of Voldemort's punishments?"

"I wasn't free of his punishment. He used the Cruciatus Curse on me. He tortured me." Cassiopeia scowled.

"Ah, forgive me, Cassiopeia. I did not know." He said.

"He almost killed me but Snape told him that I am a seer," she continued. "It made him change his mind. He said that I'm useful after all..."

"Do you know how to control your ability?" asked Dumbledore, taking off his glasses and placing it on his table.

Cassiopeia paused.

Does she? Does she know how to control it or not?

"I don't know," she answered. "It's complicated. Sometimes I want to, but when the dark lord asked me to, I did it."

"Of course," the old man nodded. "Professor Trelawney said that the inner eye cannot see upon command,"

"It's true, unless someone is threatening to murder you," she was crossing her arms.

Dumbledore lets out a small chuckle, Cassiopeia's eyes landed on his right hand that looked like it was burnt badly.
Dumbledore must've caught her looking, he held it up.

"I put on a horcrux," he said.

"What is that?" She questioned.

"Horcruxes are created to achieve immortality, by splitting their soul into separate objects," explained Dumbledore.

"Did you know it was a horcrux?" Cassiopeia asked.

"Yes. I was aware that it was," he replied.

"Then why on earth would you put it on?" She furrowed her eyebrows. That is a very stupid move considering the fact that Dumbledore is supposed to be a really wise wizard.

"I think that's a story for another time," he said.

Cassiopeia did not bother to question him. But she did think that he was an idiot for putting it on. After a few minutes of silence, a thought of the horcrux came into her mind.

"Hold on," said Cassiopeia. "A soul is to be split among objects, am I right?"

"Indeed you are," said Dumbledore.

"What happens if you destroy the horcrux?"

"You kill the wizard who created it, their soul that was inside that object falls into the afterlife," he answered. "Why the sudden interest?"

"I had a vision about that. That night I was told to see the future," said Cassiopeia. "I saw Harry destroying some objects, it wasn't very clear. I also don't know if it were a horcrux..."

"You should see more about that soon, it would be great if you were to find the objects soon," he said.

"But my ability isn't to find objects, Professor. I'm a seer. I only see the future, I hope you haven't forgotten about that..." she snapped.

"I have not, don't worry," he stated. "Now, I've got some questions regarding death eaters. Do you have some information?"

"Some. But I'm sure Snape has told you all of them already, he was there all the time." Cassiopeia pursed her lips.

"Oh he did, did the Dark Lord give you any task?" He asked.

It was like he wanted her to say it, but Cassiopeia thought it wasn't the best time to. She shook her head.

"No..." said Cassiopeia.

"Very well," he smiled, he placed his half-moon spectacles on his nose again. "You may go now."

Nodding, Cassiopeia stood up.

"Oh, take a candy. It's one of my favourites, you should try it," Dumbledore handed her a small bowl of candy, she looked at him uncertainly, but she took it anyway. Not wanting to eat it now because there might be something in that candy that she migh accidentally spill all her secrets.

She nodded, grabbing her bag from the floor before making her way out to the door. But before Cassiopeia could walk out, she heard Dumbledore's voice.

"You can always tell me anything, Cassiopeia."

The girl did not reply, she just turned the doorknob and walked out of the door.

As she stepped out of the statue, her eyes were fixed on the floor. She lets out a huff as she felt herself bump into something. Or someone.

"Hey---!" She scowled, she looked up and noticed it was Harry. "Oh. Hey. Harry."

"Hi, what are you doing inside there?" He asked, Cassiopeia looked out the large window and noticed that it was sundown, meaning classes are ending in a few minutes.

"Dumbledore called me, he asked me questions and all..." she replied. "Are you going inside?"

"Yeah, I was called," he nodded. "By the way, Quidditch practice is on Friday, I was wondering if you could come and watch. I'm the Quidditch captain now, it'd be great if you could."

"Sure, I'd love to," Cassiopeia smiled. "Also I was surprised that your potion was wonderful earlier. Good job, love."

"Thanks," he chuckled as Cassiopeia punched him jokingly on his shoulder.

"I have to go," she said, "see you at the feast."

She winked at him before placing a small kiss on his lips which surprised Harry.

"I'll see you later," he smiled.
