-Present Time/ At The Cafe-
I'm doing schoolwork until a voice calls out to me.
"Hey, can we talk?" A familiar voice asks
I look up from my laptop and see Joshua standing there awkwardly.
"Talk about what?" I simply ask
Joshua takes a seat in front of me.
"I'm sorry for canceling on you. I love Tzuyu but I also love you." He quickly realizes what he said "I love you as a friend. This argument just showed that I was valuing my relationship over our friendship. So I'm sorry, I'll promise to hang out with you more." Joshua says honestly
"Took awhile for you to realize that but I'm sorry too." I sigh
"Best friends?" Joshua holds out his hand
I nod and smile lightly "yeah" while shaking his hand
"I'm glad y'all made up." A voice is heard
I look up to the voice and see Tzuyu which causes me to quickly pull my hand away from Joshua.
"Oh Tzuyu hi." I say with a hint of disappointment in my voice to which only Joshua notices
"Hi Y/n, I'm sorry for coming in between you and Shuas friendship." Tzuyu says nicely and honestly
Although Tzuyu said that honestly and so nicely, it still upset me.
Once again Joshua noticed.
"It's all good now." I say with a forced smile
"I have to go now, bye." I say as I get up from my seat
"Where are you going?" Joshua asks as he follows my action of getting up
"Home." I simply reply as I put my laptop in my bag
"Wait, I'll go with you." Joshua says quickly
"I just want to be alone. I have to study." I say before walking away towards the door
"But you don't like to be alone." Joshua says as he follows behind me
I don't reply and walk out the door.
Joshua follows behind me.
"Y/n I know how you feel about Tzuyu. I don't want to lose her and especially not you." Joshua says as he continues to follow me
I stop in my tracks and turn around. I'm about to say something to Joshua but I'm cut off by another familiar voice that is heard behind Joshua.
"Leave her alone Joshua, go back to your girlfriend." Mingyu says as he walks towards us
Mingyu had seen me walk out upset with Joshua following behind.
"Stay out of this Mingyu, this is between me and y/n." Joshua quickly says
"You hurt the girl I love so of course it's going to involve me too." Mingyu protests as he grabs a hold of my hand
Joshua sighs "we'll talk about this later y/n, when it's just the two of us." He says before walking back in to the cafe.
"Let's go home." Mingyu says to me as he watches Joshua walk into the cafe
"But you aren't off of work until 9pm."
"My parents are there so it's fine that I leave for tonight." Mingyu says as he turns his attention to me
I simply nod while sighing.
We walk home in silence.
Mingyu knows I don't like to talk whenever I'm upset.
"I'm sorry this happened to you. I know how much Joshua means to you." Mingyu says as we walk into our shared apartment.
"I don't want to lose Joshua. We've been best friends since forever, I don't want to lose him just because of some girl." I say honestly as I sit down on the couch
Mingyu follows my actions "then maybe you should talk to him about all of this."
"I mean we did say sorry to each other but then Tzuyu came. I wasn't expecting her to show up."
"Joshua probably wanted all of y'all to talk it out." Mingyu basically questions
"I don't know. I just know that I don't like Tzuyu for Joshua. Yeah she's nice but I don't like them together."
Mingyu sits there quietly for a few seconds but then questions "y/n, do you like Joshua?"
I'm taken aback by that question which my reaction proves.
"What? No, of course not. He's my best friend." I quickly respond
"Are you sure? Because if you didn't you wouldn't have a problem with Joshua and Tzuyus relationship." Mingyu
"Do you not believe me? I don't like Joshua, I love you." I protest
"Fine fine whatever you say." Mingyu simply says
I sigh not wanting to put up another fight.
"I'm going to sleep now." I say as I get up from the couch
Mingyu hums in response but doesn't say anything else.
-Next Day-
I wake up to my phone buzzing with texts.
I reach for my phone which is on the night stand and look at the messages on my phone screen.
Joshua :)
Can we talk? Just me and you
I quickly respond
Y/n
Sure, meet up at our usual place?
Joshua :)
Yeah, wanna meet up now?
Y/n
Yeah
I send the text then quietly get out of bed to not wake Mingyu up.
I get ready then go to our usual spot which is at a lonely park.
I arrive and see Joshua sitting down on a picnic blanket, looking at the sky.
I walk over to him and take a seat next to him on the blanket.
"Hey" we both say at the same time
"So?" I drag the letter o
"Let me just get to the point." Joshua says
I nod in agreement
"Tzuyu as just a distraction. Yeah I do like Tzuyu but just as a friend."
That took me aback because Joshua seemed to really like Tzuyu.
"A distraction from what?"
"From you."
