The water flowed from the shower head onto the cold tiles.

Jack stood starring at it flowing freely. His clothes were still on as he debating getting in. He knew that he screwed up starting something he wasn't sure he wanted to follow through on.

He knew Sophia still sat downstairs probably confused about what was going through his head.

If only, Jack could explain it to himself.

If only...

Here's the thing: Jack had wanted to. His desire for his little amnesia girl was made evident by the powerhouse in his pants as he kissed her and his hands roaming her body, her sweet little ass perched on the edge of his washing machine.

It wasn't his desire that was the problem. It never was.

The problem was his vigilance. His uncanny ability to notice the most small out of sort details about any and all things - it's one of the things that make him a phenomenal police officer.

So when he looked down at the girl's hand and he spotted that damned tan line, he froze. He knew he couldn't do it despite the fact that he wanted too. His morals wouldn't allow it. It was like private property - the worst kind - another man's property. The tan line unmistakably assumes there was once a ring there and though he didn't know the story at all, he still couldn't bring himself to establish a plot twist by taking what he wanted even if there was someone else.

As soon as he saw the evidence of the placement of a wedding band - the promise of someone else that this girl had inevitably wanted to accept - he couldn't betray his morals. Sleeping with another man's wife went against his moral compass completely.

Jack breathed a deep sigh through his nose and exhaled as he shut the water off in the shower. He wasn't quite ready for a shower. He needed to think. To clear his mind. His erection was long ago gone, the act of stupidly starring off into space was sufficient enough but he still felt like he should talk to someone. So he called the one person he was closest to the most.

He found her number in his contacts and clicked on it, dialing her number. He pressed the phone to hus ear and heard it ring. And ring. And ring. But to no avail.

So he called the second person he was closest to next. This time, he seemed to pick up on the first ring.

"Well if it isn't my little brother," Jack's older brother Damian greeted through the phone. "What do I owe the pleasure?"

"Got a minute?"

"Yeah. I'm just sitting here clocking for speeders. What's up?"

Jack smiled. Much like himself, his brother, Damian, was a cop too. He was seven years older and been in the line of duty for about three more years than Jack has been.

"So...what did you want to talk about?"

Jack raked a hand through his hair. "I have a girl."

The unmistakable sound of a laugh came through the phone. "It's about time."

"What's that's suppose to mean?"

"Come on, Jack, you're not exactly actively seeking out girls. You only got Staucey because she's best friends with Eliana."

"Staucey and I are done."

"Not so done that she still pays the rent on the penthouse you guys were meant to build a life in."

Jack breathed out a sigh. "Can we not talk about Staucey right now? That's not why I called!"

"Okay. Why did you called?"

"I told you. I met a girl."

"Exactly. So why didn't you call Clarissa. I'm pretty sure she'll be better giving you advice considering she is a girl."

Clarissa was their younger sister. Only seventeen. Still in high school. Two weeks from her eighteenth birthday. Six months from graduation.

"I tried that. She didn't answer."

"Wait. You called her before you called me?"

"You bet you ass I did."

"Well played."

"Look..." Damian continued. "Just talk to her."

"Talk to her? Really? That's your advice?" Jack said, disbelieving.

"Yeah. I mean, I don't know much about women but from my experience talking to them works best." Damian paused for a moment. "Shit!"

"Something wrong?"

"Not for me. The asshole doing 80 mph in a 55 mph zone is wrong though."

Jack couldn't help but laugh. "Gotcha. I'll let you go then."

"Yep. And good luck."

"You too." Jack spoke before hanging up.

Jack couldn't explain the warm feeling flowing through him as he stood at the base of the stairs and watching his amnesia girl fluffing a towel around his police dog.

He cleared his throat making his presence known.

Sophia turned towards the man at the stairs, temporarily stopping her hands from drying Easton. "Hey."

"Hey." Jack spoke. "Thanks for doing that. You didn't have too." He said, gesturing towards Easton.

Sophia looked at the dog and than back at the man. "I don't mind. I love Easton."

Jack smiled. He looked towards his kitchen and crossed the room over to it.

Sophia followed.

"So...about earlier?" Jack started. "I should apologize."

Sophia held up a hand. "Don't bother. It's fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I mean, come on. Jack, we're both adults. And we're only human. Sometimes those types of things happen on impulse and there's no fighting it."

Jack nodded in understanding. "So you're not mad or upset I kissed you?"

"No." Sophia stated firmly. "If you were a bad kisser than I'd be mad." She said before cracking a smirk and laughing.

Jack laughed too. "Well said." He looked towards the refrigerator. "Want some ice cream?"

Before he could get an answer, he walked over and opened the freezer, grabbing the ice cream container.

"Rocky Road?" Jack offered.

"Okay." Sophia said. "Where are bowls and spoons?"

"Top cabinet behind you."

Sophia turned and found the cabinet. Jack watched as she reached up to grab some bowls and tried and failed not to focus on the small of her back that got exposed when the t-shirt lifted upwards as she was reaching for the bowls.

When she turned around, Jack looked down at the ice cream container and pull the lid off.

The bowls were placed down on the countertop and Jack began spooning some ice cream into the bowls. Two scoops each.

"Thanks." Sophia said as she reached for one of the bowls, bringing it to her and spooning up a bite.

Jack turned around to put the ice cream back in the freezer and when he heard the girl's moan of pleasure he felt his dick twitch in his pants. He shut the freezer and walked back to the kitchen island. He was on one side. Sophia adjacent to him, already enjoying the ice cream. He watched as her tongue slid to lick the corner of her mouth to get some rogue ice cream and took a spoonful of his own as a distraction.

"So, did you enjoy your shower?"

Jack was surprised yet thrilled when he heard the girl's voice.

"I actually didn't take one yet. Changed my plans." He replied.

"Plans?"

"I decided to call my brother instead."

"

You have a brother?"

"I have one. Damian."

"Is he a cop too?"

Jack nodded. "He is." Then added, "but he has a bit of a higher rank than me."

"What do you mean?"

"Whereas I'm still known as a rookie officer. He is known as what is called a Master Officer."

Sophia narrowed before cracking a smile as she jokingly says, "is that a officially title or just what he makes everyone call him?"

Jack couldn't help but laugh. "It's an official title." And than added, "I also have a sister. The youngest of us. Just thought you should know while we're on the topic."

Sophia giggled. "It's fine. I love getting to know you." She looked down at the bowl and scooped up another bite.

"Everything okay?"

Sophia nodded. "Yeah. It's fine. It's just I wish I could know more about myself." She splayed her left hand out on the counter. "If I really am married, do you think my husband is out there right now, worried?"

Jack thought about it. "Of course he would be."

"But he hasn't found me yet."

"We'll find out who you are eventually." Jack spoke as he laid a hand on Sophia's in comfort. He could feel the warmth of her hand and never wanted to let go.

He cleared his throat. "I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

"If you say so..."

Jack felt his heart breaking for her. Yes, he could empathize but he would never know completely what it's like to not know anything about you.

He looked at the Sophia and already knew she was stronger than most.

And twice as beautiful.

God, he wished there was something he could do. To make her feel loved. Needed. Wanted.

He watched her continue to eat ice cream. The way her tongue lapped over the spoon, licking off every bit of cream, had him feeling something else entirely.

Suddenly all he wanted to do was make her feel better. It would be a risk but he had a feeling she wanted it just as much as him.

"Are you done?" Jack asked when he saw Sophia push the now empty bowl slightly away.

"Yeah."

Jack smiled as he picked up both bowls and brought them to the sink. He turned around and leaned on the edge, looking over at Sophia.

"That was delicious." Sophia spoke as she felt her eyes linger on his arms and the way he had them crossed across his chest. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Jack spoke as he began to step closer.

Something dark glazed over his eyes and Sophia saw it.

"Jack? You okay?"

He reached her. "More than fine." He was standing close now. All he had to lean in and accept his salvation. So he did. He kissed her. She instantly reciprocated and kissed him back.

He lifted her on the edge of the kitchen island and stepped close. Her legs instantly wrapped around his waist and she could already feel the extent of his arousal pushing through the fabric of his pants.

Pulling away for a brief moment, Jack uttered, "Fuck my morals!" He exhaled in a rush of air from his mouth as he lunged for Sophia, his mouth making a instant connection once more, making a promise that it won't let up until the man it belongs to were thoroughly satisfied.
