"It was the great escape, the prison break, the light of freedom on my face."
"You're leaving." Remus mumbled, making Callisto stop as she put on her shoes. She had followed him back to the Gryffindor Tower and into his room, silencing charms placed to block the sound of the party coming from the common room. They hadn't really talked, despite Remus' attempts to get any type of reaction out of her. She just sat there for hours, reading over the letter time after time, until he finally convinced her to get some rest. He was half asleep when he realized that the bed wasn't as warm as before and the sweet smell of her perfume wasn't around him.
"I'm going back to my dorm."
"Listo," He murmured, placing a hand on her shoulder as he moved closer to her. "Please just stay for tonight. You shouldn't be alone..."
"Remus, in all honesty, are you trying to get me into your fucking bed right now? Have some respect for yourself and let me leave."
"Darl-"
"No, don't even say it." She tiredly said, dismissing him completely. "I know that you think that just because I'm hurt my friends left me with just a note I'll have sex with you or something to get over it, but you're wrong. I do understand it though. After all, it wouldn't be the first time I sleep with you to feel better."
"I wasn't lying to you." He tried to meet her gaze, hoping that she would see he was telling the truth. He wouldn't blame her if she didn't, but once again, he hoped she'd understand him better than he did himself. "And I'm not asking you to stay because I want to have sex with you. I'm not that much of an asshole."
"Jesus Christ, Remus, don't you get it?" Callisto sighed, turning around to face him. "I'm done with you, okay? What do you need to hear to finally leave me alone?"
"Nothing you could ever say."
Callisto smiled. It wasn't out of happiness or that fluttery feeling in her stomach as he cupped her cheek and looked deep in her eyes. It was because all the anger and hurt that was building up in her chest, slowly filtering out of small cracks, had finally found a way to be let out.
"Really?" She questioned, expecting no answer. "Because let me tell you a little secret, Remus. It will be just ours, okay?"
He didn't reply.
"You were a bet, darling." She stated, the velvety voice contrasting the cold gleam in her angry eyes. "The truth is that all I ever wanted to do was make you fall in love with me, so that I could fucking wreck you after that. Just a game, you know?" She paused for a moment. "Of course you know, but that's not the point. The point is that now all is done, and we can stop whatever this is. You've been fun, Remus, but I have no reason to stay."
There was only one way this could lead to closure. Callisto leaned in slowly, pressing her lips against his for a brief moment, just enough to faintly taste the chocolate. She pulled away, keeping her hand on his cheek.
"I'd say no hard feelings, but we both know that's not true."

"Do you think she'll be fine?"
That was the first Nicholas had asked when they finally managed to reach the small red car outside Hogsmeade. They had walked deep enough in the forest to apparate out of Hogsmeade and from there, they would use muggle transportation to get as far away as possible. Apparating would be faster and probably easier, but it would be ridiculously easy to track them if his parents talked with the right people.
Knowing them, they wouldn't waste a second to contact the ministry of magic and then they were done.
Muggle transportation was safe. It was hiding in plain sight and he loved it.
"I feel like she'll fuck it all up." Antonia replied, her eyes fixed on the road. "She'll do what Callisto does best, and she'll hurt him."
"He hurt her first."
"Of course he did." She stated. "She doesn't know how to handle him. Callisto is so used to being treated like crap, that she'll immediately jump to the worst conclusions. If he was just a bit more of an asshole she'd know what to do."
"Merlin, they're complicated."
"And we aren't?" She asked, feeling her cheeks flare up. "You two aren't normal people, Nicholas. You're difficult, stubborn, but you have charisma."
"The charm of a pureblood." Nicholas stated, rolling his eyes. "Makes me want to puke."
"It's not pureblood charm, Nico." She laughed, shaking her head. "It's a type of madness only you two possess and innocent people like dear old Remus and me fall for it."
"So, what now? You fell for me?"
Please say yes.
"What are we? Schoolgirls gossiping in the bathroom?" She sarcastically remarked, hoping that the hair falling in front of her face would cover up her blushed cheeks. She really would have kept the long hair if she knew he'd be like that.
"I did." He calmly stated, his grip on the wheel tightening slightly. He had suspected she knew; she had to know by now. He'd practically want to slam his head on the desk every time she caught him looking at her in class, a knowing smirk on her lips. Antonia Malinov knew emotions very well; both his and her own. "I still do."
"Why?"
"What type of question is that?" He chuckled, the smile staying on his lips. "You're a sunshine, Malinov."
"No, I'm not..."
"I see it for the both of us." Nicholas stated, gaining a bit of courage. "You can't ask me to tell you why I'm in love with you and then shut it down." He paused for a moment. "I'm sorry if I came off too strong. I should have probably said it somewhere where you could leave if you wanted to."
"I can still leave."
"There's a thing called friction and it's a real bitch if you fall from a moving car."
"What? You wouldn't stop for me?"
"I'm new to the driving thing, so let's avoid unnecessary stops." He joked, but the car slowed down and finally came to a stop at the edge of the road. He turned to face her, immediately feeling his head spin as he saw the questioning look in her eyes.
Great, idiot, now what?
"Antonia, I-" He took in a breath, clearing his throat. "I should start by saying that it's ehm... nothing serious. It's not like I've actually been thinking of this, because I'm a spontaneous guy, obviously. I mean, my emotions are as shallow as a poodle."
Such a pathetic liar...
"Even shallower."
"You're probably right." He admitted. "You make my stomach hurt a lot and at first Callisto started feeding me those muggle painkillers like I'm a bloody toddler, but that didn't work. And then I actually started getting heart palpitations when you were around, so naturally, I thought I was dying."
"So dramatic for no reason."
"I take my health very seriously." He sternly said, making her chuckle. "What I'm trying to say is, that I am madly, completely, fully and utterly in love with you and I don't know what to do."
Antonia just stared at him, a small smile creeping up on her lips.
"If you feel uncomfortable, I'll just walk to the next town and you can keep the car."
"I can't drive."
"It's a nice car to just sit in and not drive."
"No need for that." She smiled, resting her hand on top of his. "I like the way I feel about you a lot."
"And that way is..."
"That way is liking you a lot." She admitted, letting out a chuckle. "Oof, that was a nice thing to get off my chest."
"I can imagine."
"You're such an idiot." She mumbled, noticing the smug smile on his lips. "I really like you, but I don't know if things with me will be going at the pace you want them to. I don't want to tire you, Nicholas."
"I don't care about all that." He blurted out, the certainty in his voice surprising her. "And it's okay if you want us to stay friends for now. I just want you to know how I feel before you decide to come with me."
"Of course I'm coming with you, Nico."
"Where do you want us to go?" He asked, unfolding a small map he took from the small drawer of the car. "I was thinking we could randomly pick a place, unless you have something else in mind."
"I have some relatives in Argentina."
Nicholas raised an eyebrow, "You do?"
"No..." She mumbled, smiling sheepishly. "But, we could always call a random person on the street 'Uncle Bartholomew' and convince him I'm his long lost niece."
A mischievous grin appeared on his lips, as the car started to roll on the street again.
"Time to visit good old Bartholomew then."
