Hi and welcome back to your favourite series 'Jule's life stories but make it Cadnis' The series in which I tell you true stories which happened to me but turn it into a Cadnis fan fiction because Cadnis makes everything better. Enjoy.

It was a relatively quiet night as Janis slowly made her way through the small alleyways of Chicago. It was warm. The hot and humid air was sticking against her skin and her jacket was definitely too thick for this particular midsummer night.

She regretted leaving her bed.

She never even liked parties. The strong claustrophobic feeling of bodies pressed against each other, dancing and sweating, was just not what Janis envisioned as 'fun'. But sadly she had to go. She promised Damian to be his wing mate at this queer party by Devil's Kitchen Lake.

The christians would love the irony behind the location choice.

Normally the lake was one of the most peaceful places in south Illinois but when Janis heard the thumping techno beats in the distance it dawned on her that this won't be just a few girls, gays and they's, gathering around a campfire, drinking and having a good time. That night would be her personal nightmare.

She stopped just before the clearing of the woods. She could still turn around and tell Damian some bad excuse why she wasn't coming. She could escape all of this with one call. On the other hand Damian went to every single of her art shows without complaining. She owed him this much. She sighed, gathering herself for a moment just enjoying the few last moments of being alone before diving into the mass of people.

"Are you okay?" A voice said behind her, startling her a little.

As she turned around she saw a girl about her age and she was stunning. Her thick, auburn hair was falling in curls over her slim shoulders framing her delicate freckle sprinkled face perfectly. Her perfectly shaped brows were furrowed the tiniest bit in concern and two big ocean blue eyes were looking up at her, glimmering in the moonlight.

Yep I'm definitely going to this party.

"Uh- Yeah.. Yeah I'm just no big fan of parties..." She stumbled over her words a little, trying to collect herself.

The girls lips tucked up into a smile, "Me neither."

"I guess we both came to the wrong place then?" Janis chuckled as they both started walking towards the lake together. The music got louder and you could hear the laughter, people screaming along with the lyrics and faint moans from a little further away in the woods.

"I wouldn't say tha-"

"CADYYYYYYY!" A brunette girl came weaving towards them with a big toothy grin on her face and an almost empty bottle in her hand. She side eyed Janis as she pulled her into a hug, giving her a slightly disapproving look.

"Finally! You're here oh my god! I just saw Aaron getting a drink! let's go!" Her words were slightly slurred, blending together, making it hard to even understand.

With one last look at Janis she grabbed the girls' wrist and pulled her away.

Cady glanced back one more time, with an apologetic look on her face before vanishing in the crowd of people, leaving Janis alone.

Well that's just homophobic.

Back to square one.

---

There were drinks everywhere, empty cups scattered around on the floor making it easy to trip over them. The sand felt soft and warm beneath Janis' feet and the red plastic cup in her hand was sticking against her skin. There were people dancing, bodies pressed against each other, guided by the rhythm of the music. There were rough exchanged kisses and people filming, cheering them on.

Why am I even here?

Janis pushed further through the crowd of strangers, desperately looking for Damian, until she bumped into someone. She lost balance, her cup falling onto the floor, and gripped onto the persons shoulders, finding her best friend in all his gay glory.

He was wearing his favourite Cher shirt combined with... rainbow shorts?

"Wow Damian you truly outgayed yourself." She snickered earning a playful shove from her best friend.

"Says the one who paints lesbian porn." he shot back.

"That's art. Totally different."

"Mmmmhm."

"I see you don't even need a wing mate?" Just a few feet away there was a guy smiling over at them. Or more specifically at Damian. He raised his cup before drinking the rest of his drink beckoning Damian to come over. Janis laughed at the scene, amused by the change of facial expressions.

Damian chugged his drink and turned towards Janis. "Alright I'll go over there now. Don't you dare to leave this party young lady."

"Why?" Janis whined looking pleadingly at Damian. Her hopes on seeing that girl again sinking by every minute that passed.

"You're going to get laid today." Damian mumbled, still distracted by the cute looking guy coming closer to them.

"I beg your pardon?" Janis said sternly, crossing her arms over her chest.

"You're going to find a girl and enjoy yourself." He said more confidently now, as he looked back and forth between her and the man candy a few feet away.

"No thank you."

"Yes please."

"No."

"Yes."

"Hey!" They both turned and saw the girl from earlier smiling up at them.

Janis froze for a second. "Hi!"

"Imma go then." Damian murmured before walking away, finally granting the boys wish.

Now alone, the two girls made their way offside the dance floor.

"I never caught your name."

"I didn't throw it."

It coaxed a laugh out of Cady, and Janis was convinced it was the prettiest sound she's ever heard.

"I'm Janis." She smiled, extending her hand.

"Cady."

Cady's skin felt soft, smooth and surprisingly cold despite the warm summer weather. "Nice to meet you Cady."

"Can I buy you a drink?"

"That would be nice."

They went to the makeshift bar then. A folding table with various drinks in ice water and stacked cups on it. Half of it was gone, taken by people, now getting passed around.

Cady handed her a blue cup, but Janis got an idea and refuses, taking the bottle of someones utterly expensive champagne which stood in the middle of the cheapest booze available in stores.

"Considering that we both don't like parties... Let me take you somewhere." she smirked, holding the bottle up.

"Is this the part where you're going to kidnap me?" Cady said jokingly, raising an eyebrow.

Janis laughed. "Sorry to disappoint you but no. Just take you to a place where we can talk? Without interruptions?"

She extended her hand again for Cady to take and she gladly took it, intertwining their fingers gently.

---

They went to a boat dock a little distant from the spot where the actual party was taking place. Janis legs were dangling off the dock, her feet lightly touching just the surface of the water, while Cady was sitting crosslegged beside her. Between them the champagne bottle not getting the attention it actually deserved.

"So tell me. " Cady said finally taking a swig from the bottle. "What brings you to a party like this even though you don't like them?"

"Could ask you the same thing." Janis grinned back. "My friend Damian needed a wing mate so he made me come. I basically owed him this. Even though he didn't need me at all."

They both chuckled as they spotted Damian dancing with the boy from earlier, their faces only very few inches apart.

"Then why are you still here?" Cady asked, almost provocatively with a little smirk on her face.

"Well." Janis said with a chuckle, taking the bottle away from Cady, very aware of the feeling of her soft ivory skin beneath her fingertips. "There's this cute redhead, who I found quite charming, somewhere around here. And I'd like to get to know her more."

"Oh really?"

"Mhm" Janis muttered as she took a sip of the champagne. "And you?"

"Long fucking story."

"Good thing we have all night."

Cady sighed. "A 'friend' of mine is the host of this party which basically means we're all obligated to come."

"And the guy your friend was talking about?"

"Jealous, much?"

Maybe. "Just a little nosey."

Cady chuckled but then looked down into her lap. Almost as if she was embarrassed to say it. "I had a crush on him in freshmen year. The worst year of my life actually. And since the day they found out they're constantly trying to set us up even though it's painfully obvious that he isn't straight."

"Sounds exhausting."

"It is." she paused smiling at Janis again. "But then a very pretty girl came to my rescue and took me to the other side of the lake." She took a little break, just smiling at Janis. "Thanks by the way."

"Any time."

---

It was long past midnight when the first people started to leave while Janis and Cady still enjoyed each others company on the dock. The bottle was empty standing to Janis right while Cady snuggled into Janis left side, still cold even though she was already wearing her jacket. Janis didn't mind at all, she even found herself enjoying having Cady close to her.

Cady was everything Janis didn't expect her to be, but in all the best ways. What she's learned so far was that she grew up in Kenya, she's studying Math and Physics, is terrible at art, and - to her luck - bi sexual. She was incredibly smart, funny without even trying to and just comfortable to be around. Her hair had a sweet smell of lavender and Janis could also make out the scent of freshly opened books.

"You feeling comfy?" Janis asked with a little chuckle as Cady tucked her head beneath her chin.

"You're warm. So, yes."

Janis could tell she was tired. It was hard for her to keep her eyes open, and her breathing got a bit slower and more even.

"You know I could be an axe murderer right?" Janis whispered, tucking a lose strand of hair behind Cady's ear. Cady giggled weakly looking up at Janis with a grin. "Do you want me to take you home or something?"

"No" Cady whined dramatically dragging out the O. "I'm not leaving you here alone."

Janis rolled her eyes a little. "Come on Caddie you're half asleep. I can manage a few hours alone..." They both reluctantly let go of each other and Janis helped Cady to her feet, holding her steady for a moment when suddenly, finally, 'The Time of My Life' started playing.

"...after a dance."

"Wait what?" Cady asked, suddenly very much awake again.

"Dirty Dancing just started playing so we, as members of the alphabet mafia, are basically obligated to dance."

"I can't dance though."

"Me neither... But a little slow dance never hurt anybody. So Ms. Heron..." she extended her hand with a little grin. "Can I have this dance?"

Cady just smiled taking Janis hand into her own, walking a step closer to her. The taller girl put her arm around her waist pulling her closer while her own arm sneaked around her shoulder. The one gentle stroke of Janis thumb on her waist sent a delicious shiver down her spine, making it impossible to hold back a little shudder. Or maybe Cady didn't want to. And just moments later they both were spinning away, caught in the dance.

It was a lot simpler than the one everybody knows from the movie, and Janis dipped Cady, instead of attempting the almost impossible lift from the movie, coaxing a little giggle out of her.

There was a tiny fraction of a moment Janis thought she might already be in love. She knew it was impossible but the moment the song ended and they slowly came to a stop, Cady pushed herself up on her tip toes and pressed a short and light kiss onto Janis lips.

Did that help her situation at all? No. Did she want to do it again? Most definitely.

So she leaned in again kissing her slowly and gently. Cady pulled her closer as they kissed over and over again, nipping at her bottom lip ever so gently. It was calming and peaceful. Everything you could ever wish for in a kiss and Janis didn't want it to end, ever. But sadly breathing was occasionally necessary so they pulled away, still holding each other as close as possible.

"I think we're both having different ideas of what 'slow dancing' means."

"So what, you didn't like it?"

"I very much loved it." Janis smiled "A little warning would've been great though."

"Noted"

Janis laughed as she took Cady's hand, leading her back towards the actual party.

"Where are we going?" Cady asked confused, already missing the little privacy they had at the dock.

"I'll bring you home now, you almost fell asleep on my lap just a few minutes ago."

"You're comfy, what can I say?"

They pushed through the crowd, and as they arrived at the clearing Janis leaned in close to her ear.

"We should do that again sometime then."

"Does that include another dance?" Cady smirked, getting back a challenging look from Janis.

"If you ask nicely."

And this is it. Obviously the ending is a tiny bit different than what originally happened but if I would've chosen the normal ending it wouldn't have been fanfiction worthy xD (we kissed but it wasn't this romantic slow dance to dirty dancing thing... it was a techno remix of I kissed a girl in the corner of a dark room... where people were S C R E A M I N G the lyrics out loud lol. Which is also very ironic tho)

Anyways I hope you liked this episode of 'Jule's lifestories but make it Cadnis' I hope you have an amazing day and until next time, bye.♥️

PS: Yes I know I said I'd be back yesterday with a new the girl who lived chapter but my Laptop had some issues and it got all deleted. Which is why you're getting this instead.
