"Pull the sail up!" You screamed to your crew through the storm, "Finish tying those knots!"
Grabbing a rope with several others, you pulled with them. Of all times for a storm to begin, it was when you had to pass these waters. The over the deepest part of the ocean where it's said that the monsters of the deep make their home. You don't believe in that stuff, but your crew certainly do.
"Captain (Y/N), Hopper fell over board." Your first mate, Rory screamed at you. Of course someone had to fall over now. Following him to the back, you held on to the rail and ducked as a wave splashed over board. Scanning the water, you could see Hopper, struggling to stay afloat. Grabbing some spare rope you had, you tied one end to a near by mast then tied the other end around your waist. Tying the end of another rope around the mast, you turned to Rory.
"The second you I have him, you pull us in." You ordered, "Tell the men to lower all sails, until we are back on this ship."
Pulling your sword out, you briefly glanced down at the dark waters. You might not believe in monsters, but you knew that sharks were a real thing. If one plans to have you for dinner, you would make sure it eats your sword first. Diving into the water, you made sure that your sword sliced through the water first. Incase there was anything waiting for you. Luckily there wasn't, so you began swimming towards Hopper. Trying to keep your head up so you could see him. Finally reaching him, you grabbed him by the back of his shirt to help keep him up. Even tying the second rope around his waist.
"Hopper, are you okay?" You asked, noticing that he was pale and shaking though the water wasn't that cold.
"Captain, there's something in the water." He whimpered, catching you attention immediately.
"What did you see? A shark, a squid?" You demanded, though he didn't say. Sighing, you shook your head then dove under the water. Scanning, for any possible danger. You didn't see any thing though. Going back up for a breath, you noticed that he was still scanning the water in absolute fear as you both swam back to the ship. Just to put him more at ease, you dove back under. Looking around until you heard a sound that sounded like a deep growl. Nothing should be growling out here.
Keeping your sword close, you turned in the water, before looking down. Noticing what looked like something grey moving towards you from below. You went to move away, but froze when you saw what looked like green, blue, and yellow lights appearing from the deep below in the dark water, to just in front of you where you now saw what looked like a giant. It almost looked human, but the bottom half was that of a squid, a very large squid. Now that you looked closer, the thing coming towards you was its hand. Setting just below you, so you were practically standing in the palm of it's hand. It's glowing green eyes were very hypnotic as it watching you. A razor sharp toothed smile it's face.
The creature was so large and surprising that it took your breath away. Wait, you're not breathing, you're running out of air. Now realizing that your chest was going numb, you clawed your way back to the surface. Taking a last look over your shoulder at the creature, but it had somehow vanished. A creature that big shouldn't be able to vanish in seconds like that. Now horrified, you gasped for air. That creature could easily take down your ship if it wanted to.
"Hopper, get to the ship." You ordered shoving him closer as you swam desperately. Helping him climb on as the other crew members started to help you both on. You couldn't even stand where you were pulled onto the deck.
"Captain, what happened?" Rory asked, "You were down there for a long time. We thought you died."
Realizing that you were still trying to get your breath, you looked up at your crew who were watching you in concern. With the storm settling down, none of them are as worried. They should be though.
"The storm is dying down. Lower the sails. Once the sails are lowered, everyone is to go below deck and row." You demanded, "We have to get away from these waters as fast as humanly possible."
The desperate fear in your voice, seemed to strike the fear back into their hearts, because you are sure you've never seen any of them move that fast to finish your orders.
"Captain (Y/N)." Rory called, but you made your way to the back of the ship and started scanning the waters. There's no way that creature would just show itself for fun. It has to be planning something.
"Captain," Snapping from your thoughts when Rory grabbed your shoulders to make you look at him, "What happened? I've never seen you this afraid."
Biting your lip, you wondered if you should tell him. He doesn't believe in monsters, so he might think you're crazy, but he's your right hand man. You would trust him with your life.
"There's something in the water." You explained, "They were right when they said these waters were the home of monsters. I saw a creature that could easily tear this ship in half if it wished to. It held me in it's hand, with room for me to move it I wanted to. It's larger than even a whale by a lot. We have to get out of here before we anger it by disturbing it's home."
Yelping and stumbling as the ship jerked, you looked around in panic. A large hand was in front of the ship, preventing it from moving. Glowing tentacles were rising out of the water around the ship, sending the crew into a fearful frenzy. Just past the tentacles towards the side of the ship, you could see the human head and chest rising out of the water, easily towering over the ship. Horrified, you blindly reached out to grab onto Rory's arm.
"Captain, is that it?" Rory gasped, pushing you behind him. Seems the creature saw and didn't like that, because it growled before the tentacle at the back of the ship slammed into the deck. You barely even had time to push Rory and yourself out of the way. Grabbing your sword again, you stabbed the tentacle, in hopes that the creature would remove it. The monster let out a roar, letting you know that even monsters feel pain.
"Rory, we have to get it to move it's hand." You called, "Get half of the men down to the oars and half of them to fight the monster. We'll cut the hand so the ship will move again."
"Yes, Captain. (Y/N), stay away from the edge. I don't want you to drown or get crushed." Jumping when you felt him gently squeeze your shoulder, you gave him a small smile and nod before running towards the front of the ship. Cutting and slicing any tentacle that was in your path or that had trapped a member of your crew.
"(Y/N), Watch out!" Hearing Rory scream, you looked around, in time to see a large hand grab you. Blocking everything from your sight and even squeezing you tight enough that it was hard to breath. After what felt like forever, you yelped as the hand seemed to open and tilt. Rolling you off it and onto what felt like land. Looking around, you saw that you were on land, though you didn't get to see much before a tentacle blocked your sigh. Following it, you saw that it wrapped around you, but gave you plenty of room to move and even run around. Glancing behind you, the creature was lying half on the shore and half in the water. It was just watching with what seemed like contentment and adoration. Similar to how you would look at a favored pet.
"Why am I here?" You growled, which seemed to make his smile widen, so it can understand you.
"This is our home now." His deep voice seemed to rumble through the air. You shook you head at his answer though.
"Absolutely not. I do not live on land." You snapped, take me back to my ship. My family."
At that he frowned before sitting up and holding his hand out to you. Softly motioning for you to get on. You glared at him, but did as he silently requested. Hanging into one of his fingers and he raised you. Allowing you to look around more. Turns out you were on a large island, with enough fruit trees that they would last a life time. Over the ocean, there was only dark clouds, rough water, and four horrifying water vortexes that either rose to the sky of swirled to the bottoms of the sea. There's absolutely no way for you to get out of here on your own.
"(Y/N), my captain, you'll be staying here with me. Resting your traveling soul. Away from those, disgusting men you call your crew and family." he growled before his glare turned to you, "Your ship and those humans are no more. I destroyed it when I saw how close you were to that one human. I believe you called him Rory."
"He's my second in command. I've known him for years." You snapped, "He's a dear friend of mine."
"He didn't see you as a friend." The creature hissed, "He adored you. Not as much as I do though. Ever since I saw you bravely save that cabin boy and how graceful you look in the water. I knew that you belonged to the ocean, to me. You're mine now and once I perfect my potion to shrink and grow at will, we'll be closer than even now."
He hummed, bringing you towards his face and nuzzling his nose against you. Glaring at him, you backed away as much as you could.
"You can't keep me here. Who do you think you are keeping me prisoner here? I'm going back to my ship if I drown doing so." You snapped.
"I am what you humans call, The Kraken." He hissed, making your blood freeze at the name, "Though my real name is Andreas. I can't take you back to your ship because it no longer exists. Along with your crew."
Feeling your mind go blank, you didn't know what to say. The only thing you felt was absolute remorse. Though you wouldn't cry in front of this monster. You came close though.
"I'm going to leave one way or another." You snapped, stumbling slightly when his hand shook as he laughed. His green eyes settling on you in amusement.
"I would like to see you try, My Captain."
