Zekaj burst through the doors to Zekai's room.
An annoyed Zekai looked up from his book, only sighing and setting it on his bedside table.
"You were serious about me helping you?" Kai groaned.
"Yes, and you don't have a choice, remember."
"What do I get out of this?" Zekai asked.
"I'll owe you one," Zekaj shrugged leaving the room. He heard the footsteps of Zekai following behind him.
"You already owe me like a hundred "ones"," Zekai mumbled.
"And you owe me a hundred too so fuck off."
Zekai himself was only in a pair of pants but that was still more clothing to the short shorts Zekaj was wearing.
It was a new day at the Edge of Hell and Zekaj couldn't help but pray to the gods that Hunter would wake up today. He had no idea when medically Hunter should but he couldn't help but hope.
Opening the door to his old room, which was on the other side of the castle from Zekai's room, the two brothers were greeted to a destroyed bedroom.
"Gods it's worse than I remember," Zekai mumbled, kicking some of the rubble around the ground.
The brick walls had claw marks scratched up and down them from Zekaj's enraged form. His bed was completely destroyed and clothes from his closest were tossed around and many were ripped.
Or at least Zekai assumed they had been ripped by Kaj's enraged form. He could never tell if Zekaj just had bought the clothes pre-ripped.
"Hey, I can technically blame this on Hunter's family and not me. If I hadn't been separated from Hunter then I never would've freaked out," Zekaj shrugged, picking up some of the clothes from the ground and throwing them in a hamper. They all would need to be cleaned again from the debris.
"I mean you had two months to get this room fixed and you never did."
"Fuck you, asshole, I was going through a lot," Zekaj growled.
Zekai rolled his eyes and went to the cleaning quarters and grabbed a broom and a mop. They could definitely use magic to fix the walls but a lot of the dust would be in the room still.
Zekaj had popped into town really quick, buying new bricks and wood to use to fix the dressers and walls. Along with the debris, that wasn't complete dust, they could break these supplies down with magic and form them into the shapes needed to fix everything.
The two brothers were back in the broken room and Zekaj quickly got to fixing the walls while Zekai put up new curtains.
With two strong demons, the process would only take a couple hours.

After a couple hours the room looked nice. Neither realized they would need paint to paint the bed frame back to how it was originally. So they had to run back to town for some.
Zekaj had removed all of the fancy weapons from his bedroom knowing that Hunter wouldn't be that big of a fan. There was a lot of stuff from Hunter's old room that he would like to bring here for decorations. All of which were on Earth sadly.
Flopping onto his bed, Zekaj stared at the ceiling. It would be a while before the bedding would be clean and then he could move Hunter into this room.
The bedding in the guest room that Zekaj was using was nowhere near as delicate and soft as the ones he had in his room. If that were the case he would have moved Hunter in here right away.
Zekaj felt the bed press down a bit as Zekai sat right next to him.
"Is it gonna be weird having Hunter here? Since you two were only with each other on earth?" Zekai asked, breaking the silence.
"Probably at first, but not very long. I can't wait to show him everything," Zekaj smiled to himself. "He's gonna love it."
"How long till you're in his pants?" Zekai snickered.
"Pfff I'm not the horny bastard I was in my youth Zekai. I'm not going to try to have sex with him... right away."
Both brothers laughed with each other.
"I might just have to ask Hunter how obnoxiously horny you've been while you were gone then."
"You wouldn't dare!" Zekaj yelled.
"I might just have to," Zekai laughed, followed quickly by Zekaj laughing with him again.
"I'm gonna go check on Hunter," Zekaj said, changing the topic.
Zekaj and Zekai both headed for the guest room and found Hunter cuddling the same pillow again.
Sitting in the little space between Hunter and the edge of the bed, Zekaj quietly moved the hair from Hunter's face. Hunter's face twitched when skin-to-skin contact was made and his hands clenched the pillow harder.
Zekaj quietly moved his hands up and down Hunter's body, letting his healing magic enter Hunter's body as well as a little bit of his mana. Both would help Hunter recover quicker than normal.
"It's weird seeing you like this," Kai said. "A good weird, don't get me wrong."
Drilling holes into Zekai's eyes, Zekaj only glared in response.
"I mean I never thought I'd see the day where you would be with your mate like this. Caring for him and worrying about him. I mean your mate being him is shocking in itself."
"Trust me, I still feel that way," Zekaj smiled. "I got lucky though to get someone so perfect."
"Damn, maybe I need to find myself a human or two," Zekai laughed.
Zekaj pecked Hunter's forehead and the brothers left the room quietly after Zekai refueled the fire.
The two went to the dining room for lunch, finding their parents there as well.
"How is Hunter?" Aegon asked, taking a bite of his food.
Both the brothers sat down in their usual seats, awaiting the food from the chef.
"He's getting there. Hopefully, he will be awake soon," Zekaj answered.
"And your room?" Aegon asked.
"Fixed," Zekai said. "Just waiting for paint to dry and his fancy sheets to be cleaned."
"All of his clothes are in the fixed dressers and mine are too," Zekaj said.
"I saw you got rid of a lot of the weapons in your room. The guards were confused about where they all came from," Caroline said.
"Yeah, Hunter's not really a weapon kind of dude and I've outgrown them. I'm the weapon now," Zekaj cheekily grinned.
"More like Hunter's the weapon." Kai snickered. "Have you seen the runes on that dude?"
"Hey! Once I get the Primordial Blade I'll be stronger than him," Zekaj said.
"Maybe," Aegon added.
Zekaj turned his face quickly as his eyes widened. "What do you mean, maybe?"
"I'm just saying you got a hella powerful mate. Who knows how powerful he is," Aegon corrected himself.
"Stronger than a fucking primordial blade and badass void powers?" Zekaj asked, raising an eyebrow.
Aegon shrugged and took another bite of his food and the brothers' plates were brought to him.
"Don't get too heated over the fact that Hunter might be stronger than you," Caroline said, speaking up for the first time.
"I'm not heated, it's fucking sexy that Hunter's powerful!" Zekaj shouted. He needed to calm down before he popped a stiffy under the table. God, maybe he was way too horny all of the time.
Nah, Zekaj thought to himself.
The chef looked at him confused and Caroline just motioned for him to ignore Zekaj.
"That reminds me," Caroline said. "If he'd let me, I'd like to analyze some of Hunter's blood."
"Ew. No. Why?" Zekaj asked. Caroline was asking for Hunter's permission but Zekaj didn't care. The answer was no.
"It might hold some of the answers we have as to why Hunter even has demonic runes," Caroline said. "I've had some theories but this would help us prove them right or wrong."
"What kind of theories?"
"Well your father and I have been wondering, is it possible his parents aren't who they say he is? That he isn't actually their kid."
"No it's not possible, he looks too much like Jaxon," Zekaj said. "Sadly."
"Well what about his mom, how is she?" Caroline asked.
"Grade-a fucking bitch," Zekaj said. "I mean I hate both of his parents but she is nasty."
"Well, maybe it's because she's not his mother." Caroline inferred.
"No, it's not possible. Are you trying to suggest that Hunter's actual mother is a demon and that's why Olivia is cold towards him? She isn't his mom?" Zekaj asked. This was confusing him a lot, he tried to keep it from making too much sense but it was hard to ignore.
"I'm just saying it's a possibility. Fate obviously has its magnifying glass pointed towards you two so who knows what it's doing." Aegon spoke up.
"Well if Hunter was a demon he'd have a demon form."
"Not necessarily," Zekai said. "Has Hunter ever tried to shift into a demon form?"
"This is stupid. Hunter is human. Always has been."
"You never knowwww," Zekai dragged out.
"I know my Hunter! He is a human, not a demon. At all!"
Zekai smiled cheekily and shrugged his shoulders. It was fun messing with Zekaj.
Groaning Zekaj took a bite from his steak and mumbled curse words towards Zekai who only laughed.
Ignoring how much it made sense for Hunter's father to be keeping secrets, Zekaj ignored the fact that Hunter was taller than everyone in his family. Had demonic runes unlike any human before. Not to mention the fact that he was mated to a demon, something that was supposed to be impossible.
Was it possible that while he was away, that Hunter had figured out the answers to these questions? Maybe they just needed to wait for Hunter to wake up.
He just wanted Hunter back in his arms, awake. He wanted to see his eyes and hold his hand and kiss a little bit. Or maybe a lot. Zekaj felt like he deserved it after these past couple of months of being away from Hunter.
Even though they had so many questions and so few answers, Zekaj felt like they would get those answers soon.
The world was changing fast for the two of them and it didn't seem like it was going to slow down any time soon.
Once Hunter woke up, everything was going to change.
Hopefully for the better.

It's nice to have a chapter ending in eight that isn't super huge, right? One that isn't just completely batshit crazy. But I have to know,
Whose more powerful? Hunter or Zekaj? *eyes emoji*
But for real the actual questions I have is this.
Who do YOU think Hunter's parents are?
Could it be that he isn't actually his moms kid?
Who knows, but what I know for sure is that the Voidbornes have questions ones only Hunter can answer. I feel like it's about time our favorite, uh, Human??? wakes up.
