The Suburbs

4 0 0
By liviC44

The suburbs are usually

The butt of people's jokes

And I get why

But if you get pass

The HOA

And the strict uniformity

And the dull cookie cutter houses

There's something nice

About the suburbs

And the little neighborhoods

Where everyone is friends

Sometimes having a uniform to life

Is nice

It's simple

And sure you can't stand out

But at least you know

What's expected

And how things work

The neighbors are usually nice

Neighborly, one might say

But they stick to their lawns

And I stick to mine

Just a wave will do

Or a nod

Don't want to do anything

Unexpected

Not here

Not in the suburbs

You stick to your house

Or backyard, or driveway, or lawn

You keep your hedges perfect

Not a single leaf or branch out of sorts

You measure your tree

Every few months

Making sure that no one harrasses you for

Biodiversity

Okay,

Maybe the suburbs should be the butt of jokes

Because of all this

It's craziness

What's even the point

Sometimes the uniformity is nice

Because having control over things

No matter how small

Can be nice

But what if I don't want to adhere to this neighborhood's rules

What if I want to

Break free

And do it my own way?
