Fireworks, Not Butterflies

Everyone says

It's butterflies

They feel

In their stomachs

Especially when talking

To her

But not me

I don't feel butterflies

Fluttering away

And threatening to choke me up

It's fireworks

Exploding

One after the other

Firecrackers

Shooting off

Like it's the fourth of July

Sparklers go off

Whenever she walks by

And I can't swallow sparklers

And fireworks

Like people can with butterflies

Butterflies

Are quiet

And fireworks

Alert the whole world

I don't want

The whole world to know

How I feel

They don't need to know

Only her

Only she needs to know
