A week later
Monday, Luz was allowed back to school, Viney having gotten settled in pretty well. "Hey, that human boy, Aguxtus, he's pretty smart." Viney said, taking a bite out of her breakfast burrito.
"It's Agustus, he spelt his name wrong I'm assuming?" Luz spoke, leading the way to her first class.
Viney nodded, "Agustus is gay, right?"
"Yes, he is. He's like a mini Jerbo, except, ones taller and has a slightly deeper voice!" Luz exclaimed. "How are you settling in Viney?"
The witch shrugged, adjusting her beanie, "Eh. It's different. I wonder if I'm being excused for all this work I'm missing back at home.." Viney said quietly.
Luz shook her head, "No you are not. I already did all of it, those potions under my bed? I had to make those for Potions and Oracle, they told me to keep it because I did it all correctly and they already had enough. For Beast Keeping, I'm researching the animals here-"
"Did someone say, animals?" Spencer asked, holding a mini elk toy out to Luz.
The witchling awhed quietly, taking the small toy, "What is it? It's cute!"
"That my deer friend, is an elk."
Luz felt it's horns, examining the toy further, "Looks like a deer, but with bigger horns!"
Spencer nodded, "You want to go to the zoo with me?" He asked.
"Oh yeah! Weren't you supposed to go with Alex though?"
Spencer half shrugged, "He's busy tonight. Bear got sick and he has to get medicine for him, the drive is two hours away for the correct type of medicine." Spencer explained. "And his sister comes home for the break."
"There's a break? Are you two breaking up-" Luz blurted out, already panicking.
"No no, nothing like that. Her school has a week off from November 13th, today, to November 20th." Spencer cleared up. "If we were breaking up, he'd be holding on to my leg right now, begging me to come back. Trust me, it happened before."
Viney ooed, "Care to tell the story?" Viney asked.
"I would gladly tell it, but he doesn't like me to talk about it because he was very sad- Do you want to take Alex's place?" Spencer questioned.
Luz hummed, "Sure! But, what's a zoo?"

"Thanks for coming to something something zoo.." The lady at the booth mumbled. "Tickets please.."
Spencer slid them over, the woman taking them slowly, examining them, then nodding, "You can feed the birds if you want..Tell a worker which bird and we'll get it for you so you can.." She sighed. "Just go.."
Luz put her fresh cup of hot chocolate on the counter, sliding it over, "I think you need it more.."
The lady rolled her eyes as a small smile spread on her lips, "Have a pen-tastic day." She said, holding up an elephant pen.
Luz smiled, following Spencer in, the other eight (8) tagging along. Spencer and Luz were offered maps, the witchling happily taking one, showing it to Spencer, "Where do you want to go first Luz?" He asked.
"Can we check them all? I only know of the horses, pigs, goats and spiders, because I saw the movie Char-o-lette's Web, it was very sad. Hey, what is a chicken?-"
The short boy came forward, clearing his throat, showing the screen. "A chicken is a domestic fowl kept for its eggs or meat, especially a young one, many are pets."
"Thank you sir Gus." Luz smiled, patting his head. "You are a very informative person."
He nodded, stepping back in to the group, "Let's take a left, see what's there first." Spencer said, pointing to the map, then up ahead.
A girl stepped forward, "I'll lead the way-"
"Oh no you don't Bo, I will-" The other girl muttered, taking lead.
"Screw off Cat, I'm leading the way!" Bo huffed, pushing Cat away.
By arguing, the others went past them and began to take the route, and when one became victorious (Cat), they noticed and quickly rushed after the group. Good job ladies.

Luz stared at the animal, very confused, "Water pig?" Luz asked quietly.
Spencer shook his head, "Hippo."
The other human, a greenette, gently elbowed Luz, "They look chubby and innocent, but they eat nearly everything that moves in the wild."
"Don't scare her like that Amelia." The other human said, our lovely idiot of the group.
"It's okay Skara, that's in the wild.." Luz said, now realizing those words. "Spencer, why are these animals here?"
"Out in the wild, many of these are hunted and killed. Most of the birds here are endangered or wounded, so they're kept here til they feel better or their species isn't in danger." Spencer explained, examining the hippos. "Come on, next one."
Luz took his hand, Spencer taking the group to the next animal. When they arrived, Luz stared at it, confused. "Chubby unicorn?" Luz asked.
The human with glasses snorted, grabbing on to the railing as she laughed to her hearts content, "A- Snort- Chubby unicorn- Wheeze- Luz, it's called a rhino!"
"A rhino? Thank you Willow." Luz hummed. "Rhino..These get hurt because of their horns, don't they?"
Spencer nodded, "Their horns are their protection, but rude people cut them off and leave them to die.."
Luz pulled back, "Uhm..Next one.."
Lion's, elephants, turtles, tigers, leopards, pumas, cheetahs, ferrets, deers, elks, zebras, foxes, polar bears, amphibian's all of them, except giraffes. Now it was time for the birds. First ones up, ostriches. They were funny birds, Luz thought they were cute.
Parrots, they weren't caring about the people, so they just stayed up in their nests and away. Flamingos weren't pink so a bit disappointing, the rest of the birds were elsewhere and not able to be seen. Lastly, vultures. The group planned to skip this one because some looked weird, but Luz was persistent on wanting to see these.
The vultures, actually, to be more specific, were cinereous vultures. One was close enough that Luz could clearly see it. It was cute. It was looking at her. And she would most definitely feed it.
