Kabeer's POV
I just checked in at the private terminal and sat in charted plane!
I should call her once!
I am not feeling good!
Is she okay?
"The flight will take off in two minutes sir. Happy journey" The pilot wished and I nodded!
It was just a minute after which I received Sheena aunty's call !
Why is she calling me!!
"Yes aunty! Baani is fine right!" I asked
So much care!!
"Mr.Mittal..her papa...something have happened! Don't go Germany sir ! Please go to her!" She said and I heard announcement!
"Flight is ready to take off in three seconds !!!" the announcement was done
"Stop!!!" I yelled
"Are you okay sir!" The hostess asked
"Stop flight right now!! I ordered and she nodded running towards pilot's cabin.
Soon I was out the airport and took a cab from outside when received Aayush's call !
"Kabeer! Land the flight back ! Just come back!! " He said
"Where are you! Listen to me first! Take Anna and go to Bajaj mansion! Go to Baani!" I told
"We're there only Kabeer! Shishir Uncle..He's no more" He said
"What!!" I whispered
"Please come soon! Baani is not in her own self!! She's not reacting at all !" he told and my pumping organ became heavy!
I undid the tie and opened the tux!
Baani!!!
"Drive fast!!! " I yelled and the driver nodded!!
Soon I reached mansion and ran inside!
"Baani !" I called and Aayush looked at me!
"She's inside! She's not letting us take uncle's...uncle's body outside!" He said
"She's..not behaving like Baani ! She's just sitting there quiet!!" Anna sobbed and I gulped!
Dad & Maya mom were also there!
I stepped towards papa's room and looked at Baani !
You can handle this Kabeer.
You can!!
Don't let her innocence ruin just like yours!
You can do it!!
"Baani !" I spoke softly and she looked at me!
"He's not ...talking to me!" She whispered and I went near her!
"He...He's no more Baani !" I mumbled and she looked at me angrily.
"What are you even saying! Just go away! I don't want anyone here ! He's angry with me I know! He can't leave me" She yelled and I looked at her!
"Baani! You've to believe it" I whispered
"Shut up!" She raged pushing me but I pulled her hand and took her face in my hands!
"He Is No More Baani !! Do you listen this!! He Is No More!! " I yelled and she looked at me and then at papa's body and fell with a thud!!
"Baani !!!" I panicked while she zoned out!
"Shit!! Aayush...Anna!! " I yelled and picked her in my arms taking her to nearby room and everyone came!
"Call the doctor from outside!" I said and Aayush nodded
"Kabeer! We've to do his last rites!" Dad snivelled
"But Baani, dad!" I whispered
"Doctor is here!" Aayush spoke and came with doctor
"I'll just inform priest and relatives" Dad said and went out!
"She zoned out due to shock Mr.Mittal ! She needs proper attention and don't leave her alone for at least some days at all . And yes, make sure she mourns because if she doesn't she may go into depression" The doctor stated and I nodded!
"She'll be awake in some time! Take care!" Doctor added and Aayush left with him!
"Maya mom?" I whispered and she looked at me!
"Uh Y..yes" she said
"Please be with her! I'll be back in minutes" I asked and she nodded wiping her tears!
I went out and looked at dad!
"How this happened" I asked
"You didn't know!" He questioned surprised
"What dad" I asked again
"He was in his last stage of Leukemia! Didn't Baani tell you ever" He inquired and I didn't say anything.
She didn't ever tell me!
She didn't tell me such a big thing because she never trusted me that much !!
"The priest is here!" someone said and dad nodded
"Who'll do the last rites" priest asked
"He has daughter! She'll do!" dad said
"She won't be able to Uncle! " Anna sobbed in Aayush's arms.
"I..I'll talk to her" I said and went towards the room!
Maya mom stood up and went away while I looked at her!
"Baani !" I whispered and she opened her eyes!
"You've to do cremation ceremony of papa" I added and she looked at me!
"I..I can't !" She whispered
"Why! You're his daughter! It's your right and responsibility!" I told
"I can't see his body with fire" she whispered again
I sighed and took her outside!
She was just numb and was walking like a dummy!
She looked at the covered body and silent tears left her eyes!
"Kabeer! You do!" dad said and I nodded!
I took a bath and changing into clothes I went downstairs and all the men headed towards cremation ground!
After completing the cremation rites we came back home and took a bath!
"Where's Baani !" I asked Anna
"In the room!" She whispered
"She..didn't eat anything since morning" Maya mom said
"Give me her plate" I told and she nodded
Taking the tray I went to her room and she was looking out of the window.
"Baani!!" I called but she didn't listen.
"Baani!" I said again but no replies.
She has to mourn and cry otherwise she'll go in depression.
I ,in my life have never felt so much helpless as today.
It's paining badly seeing her like this and still I know I can't do anything.
If it was a thing, I would've made my day and night one to give her that but I can't give her back someone who's no more!
Keeping the tray on table I went towards her and kneeled down.
"Baani" I said and still she was looking just out of the window.
I took her hand in mine and she looked at me.
"You didn't eat anything! Come eat" I told and she denied.
"Baani please. You'll get ill" I reasoned but she denied and standing up she went inside bathroom.
I sighed and went outside.
"She's not eating" I told to no one in personal.
"Each one of us have tried! This way she'll get ill." Geeta aunty told wiping her tears.
"Twelve days the rituals will take place. Kabeer, whole day we'll be with her but at night take care of her. She's a fragile girl and this is very big shock for her " Dad commanded and I nodded.
"I'll take care of her dad. I promise" I assured and he nodded.
I came to her room and she was still at window.
"Baani sleep!" I said and she nodded standing up and went to bed.
I looked at her sighing and went to couch!
The whole night I was seeing her and she was looking at the ceiling.
She has not spoken a word since last rites.

It's been twenty days papa passed away. We came back to penthouse but still she's same.
Baani is not Baani. She has become a robot.
Wakes up, skips breakfast, do nothing in her room other then staring at things, never asks from herself for lunch or dinner. She don't even eat ice creams!
It's either me or Geeta aunty who when ask her she eats!
On weekend even everyone visit her when she just sits, lost in her own world.
That's not my Baani!
And I want her to speak! I want her to mock, I want her to do everything that Baani did!
You'll miss one day when I'll not speak! That day you'll want me to speak but then I'll not speak and I'll take my whole revenge!!
Her words rang in my ears!
And I miss every inch of it. I don't like this revenge. Speak Baani !
The day you'll stop speaking for more then a minute, the world around me will freeze.
Speak Baani. Anything. Get angry. I miss every inch of it. The world around me has frozen !!
I went towards her room and saw her in the balcony.
"Baani.." I whispered and she looked at me.
"Baani. I know it's tough. It's very tough and unimaginable. But you yourself once said me, life's inevitable right! Papa was suffering. He got salvation Baani but he'll never be happy seeing you like this! This is not his Baani" I said and she looked at me again.
"Dad told me. Papa had cancer! Push your emotions out Baani. Don't make a shell around you. I'm there for holding you. Always! Express out your emotions! Don't become me Baani. It's devastating. Please speak. I'm dying to listen to you. Mock at me, comment at me, look at my eyes, eat ice creams, talk about Evans, hell do anything but please speak!!
Don't create a wall of emotions which becomes unbreakable Baani. Please!!
Cry Baani!! Cry!!! You lost papa! You lost your dad Baani!! For once cry loudly!!" I said and she looked at me as tear left her eye.
"Cry!! Sob!! Scream!! Do anything..just make yourself feel light!! Cry!!!" I added shaking her shoulders and her tears came out.
She cried! Silent tears..followed by small sobs.
I opened my arms and she hugged me tightly.
And here I finally got my home back after 20 days!!
She cried loudly! She cried for hours in my arms sobbing and hiccupping just repeating a word...Papa !!
I hugged her protectively in my arms till she stopped crying and finally she slept in my arms.
I kissed her eyes wiping her last tears and took her to bed and covered her with comforters.
I was about to go when she held my arm in sleep.
"Don't.. leave me...Everyone..leave me.." she whispered and I bent down.
"I'll never..ever leave you. It's my promise! Kabeer Mittal's first promise to you " I whispered even when I know she's not even hearing it.
I can't ever leave you Baani!
I was never even ready to leave you!!
I kissed her forehead and took the another side of bed.
If you freak out in the morning then I'll get my Baani back..
And even if you blush deeply or hug me back..my Baani will be back!!
Either way my Baani will be back!
Just react! That's what I want!
And I had the most peaceful sleep after mom passed away!
With a feeling of warmth !
I woke up just to see a small figure enclosed within me.
Her one arm was on my shoulder and another arm was round my waist.
Her head resting on my shoulder and her legs curled up.
And me..I was protectively holding her in my cage!
She has got the most perfect nose! I miss seeing her dimples too!!
After some time she opened her eyes and looked at me.
"Good morning" I wished
"Mhm hmm" she whispered
"You feeling good" I asked
"Light! Thank you. It means a lot" she said and I looked at her.
"Okay now tell me. What you'll eat. I'll make breakfast today" I told
"For me? You" she asked
"Off course! I'll ! I know much more then boiling water" I winked and she looked away.
"You slept here last night" She asked
"If you'll see your position you'll get answer" I smirked and she looked at herself and instantly shifted back blushing!
Way to get her actual self back!!
"Go freshen up fast. I'm waiting downstairs okay" I told and she nodded
After ten minutes she came and I looked at her.
"Baani chocolate milkshake! " I offered and she looked at it and tears pooled her eyes.
"Hey what happened. If you don't like it it's okay. I'll.. I'll make you an Americano or Anything else " I offered when she denied wiping her tears.
"Papa... He used to make me..milkshakes" She whispered
And why did I even chose milkshakes!!
"I'm sure.. It's not as tasty as he used to make but I'm not that bad cook you know" I tried cheering her up and she looked at me and took the glass.
"It's good. Thank you" She said
"Baani! What about work" I asked
"I.. I'll go from today. I'm sorry I've given you so much trouble these days." She guiltily said and I denied.
"It's nothing like that. I liked working at both offices. That was good" I told and she nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me about him Baani... " I asked softly and she looked at me.
"What you would've done if you knew and moreover I didn't want your pity! I don't want anyone's pity " She snapped and I sighed.
She silently did her rest of the breakfast and went upstairs while I sighed.
She spoke but not that much!!
Damn I just miss her All India Radio!!!
After some hours she came downstairs.
"I'll drop you. Come" I offered
"No I'm.. Good. I'll manage." She declined
"I insist" I told
"Thank you Kabeer but I guess I'll have to learn to manage alone" She said and was about to go when the bell rang.
She went and opened the door to see Mr. Wadia.
"Good morning sir, madam" He wished
"Morning. Come in Mr. Wadia! " she invited and he came while we all sat in living room.
"You here.. " I asked
"Umm.. Eight months of your marriage have been completed! The procedures would take time so I'm here with.... uh..Divorce papers" He told and I looked at Baani.
Divorce Papers!!
And all of a sudden I just hate this name.
I hate this word Divorce!
I even hate Mr. Wadia for coming here!!
Damn it I hate the time when I proposed the idea of this divorce!!!
And you subconscious,you were literally dead that time because you bounce every next second but went to hibernation that day!!!
I looked at Baani who was looking at the papers in Mr. Wadia's hand with don't know which emotions in her eyes.
And I know what I've to do!
I very well know what's right!!!
I took a deep breath and stood up.
"I am not giving any divorce! " I stated firmly.
