⚓️Y/ɴ's ᴘ.ᴏ.ᴠ.⚓️
It's the morning after the hurricane and I'm helping The Hayward's clean up.
It's been quite nice catching up with Pope, I use to study with him in school, so I know he means good.
I'm cleaning bits out the water and he's in the house, in the corner of my eye I see a boat pull up.
"Yo, Y/n can you get Pope?" John B says I turn to see him and another boy, I'm not sure I remember him.
"POPE! John B's here!" I say and Pope pops his head out from the house.
He makes his way over.
"What do you guys want?" He says when he gets to us.
"We have a faculty meeting, interns mandatory," John B says in a weird voice.
"I can't my dad has us on lockdown," Pope says pointing at me.
"Man your dads a pussy," the other boy says in a voice like John B's.
"Oh, I heard that you little bastard," Pope's dad says making me jump.
"We need your son," John B says facing Pope's dad.
"It's the rules, the day after a hurricane is a free day," the boy says.
It's definitely not true I laugh to myself.
"Who the hell said that?" His dad says getting annoyed.
"Pentagon, I think, I have security clearance, I have a card," he says making me giggle.
"Pentagon, y'all think I'm stupid!" He says getting even more annoyed.
"I'll do it tomorrow," Pope says in a pleading voice.
"No, no no no no, hell no!" He says still annoyed.
"Get in the boat," John B shout whispers.
"Make a run for it, make a run for it," the boy says as Pope goes to the boat.
"You wanna come?" John B says to me.
"Sure, why not," I say dropping my equipment and getting on after Pope.
"Bring your asses back here," he says stepping up to the boat.
"We'll do it tomorrow, I promise," I say as we start to move.
"Love you pops," John says as we get away.
I giggle and sit next to him.
I get up from sitting next to John B to sit next to the other boy. I have a feeling I should know who he is, but I have no idea.
"I feel like an idiot, but who are you?" I ask him quite bluntly and he looks at me confused.
"You don't remember me?" He asks even more confused and I shake my head.
"I'm JJ, JJ Maybank," he says and it suddenly hits me.
"JJ, damn you don't look anything like you did two years ago," I say looking at him, he pulls an odd face.
"I-I didn't mean it in a bad way, you look good," I kinda just blurt out.
I look away but in the corner of my eyes, I see him blush.

"Ooo, top of the morning to ya," John B says nocking me out of my thoughts.
I look up and see Kie.
"Morning boys-and Y/n," she says walking up to the boat.
"Hey," I say waving.
"What you got? Some juice boxes," John B says.
"You know just some yoghurt, carrot sticks and juice boxes," she says getting on the boat.
"What about my kind of juice boxes?" JJ says making me giggle.
"Braise for impact," John B says in the voice again.
"Welcome back Y/n," Kie says handing me a beer.
"Ummm-thanks but I don't want it," I say and they all look at me confused.
"I'm on probation, if anyone catches me doing anything like this I could go back to Juvy," I say and they all nod in an understanding way.
⚓️⚓️⚓️
"Let me show you guys a party trick," JJ says getting up.
"Pope can you go a little faster please," he says getting to the front of the boat and standing on the edge, I have no idea what he's gonna do.
"It doesn't work you've tried this like a thousand times," John B says, leaning back on the seat near the wheel.
"Yeah, well, Y/n's never seen it," he says looking at me and doing finger guns kinda awkwardly.
"Should I be worried," I say then JJ smiles at me then turns back around.
He then starts to pour the drink and it goes everywhere.
"Oh my god you're getting it in my hair," Kie says laughing.
"Dude, dude, you're done," Pope says.
Suddenly the boat stops.
Chucking JJ into the water and us forward.
"Jesus Pope," I say getting up from where I was knocked down.
"You ok JJ?" Pope says as JJ rises to the surface.
"I think my heels touched the back of my head," he says looking really uncomfortable
"Kie, Y/n, you alright?" John B asks.
"Yep," we both say.
"What did you do?" JJ says.
"Sand bar, the channel changed," he replies.
"No shit," JJ says getting back to the boat.
"Ugh, that's probably gonna mess this place up," John B says.
"Hey, I saved the beer though," JJ says lifting the bottle up in the air like it was a trophy to him.
"Congrats JJ," I say slowly clapping, and he laughs.
"Guys, I think there's a boat down there," Pope says stopping me, he's stood where JJ was looking down into the water.
"Shut up," John B laughs, not believing him.
"No way," I say walking up to him.
"No, no, guys I'm serious, there's a boat down there," he says.
"There's a boat," he says in a higher-pitched voice.
"Holy shit, he's right," Kie says and starts to strip.
Me and John B follow her lead.
"You think there's a dead body down there," Pope says as we jump in.
He is not that far behind.
We all swim down to the boat.
John B gets a closer look than all of us as I think he's a better swimmer.
We then all make our way back up to the surface for air.
"You guys saw that right?"JJ says when we get up.
"That's a Grady-White, a new one of those is like five kis," JJ says as we make it back to the boat.
"That's a precise rig," JJ says plopping down next to me when he gets on the boat.
"Yeah-yeah-yeah, that's the one I saw when I surfed the surge," John B says.
"You surfed the surge?" Kie says in a concerned voice.
"That's my boy, pouge style," JJ says giving John B a high five.
"Do we even know whose boat that is?" Pope says as he and JJ go to the front of the boat.
"No, but we're about to find out," John B says as he opens the bit that the anchor lives in.
"Dude it's too deep," I say getting up too, and making my way over.
"Oh for the weak and feeble Y/n," John B says getting the anchor out.
"I'm not resuscitating you, I'm just making that clear up front," JJ says.
"It's fine," John B says picking up the anchor.
"John B," Kie says concerned.
"What?" He says confused, but she doesn't reply.
"Diver down fool," Pope says saluting at him.
"Diver down," he says saluting back.
"Yeah, he is," JJ says pushing him into the water.

"Should we go get him?" Pope says as we're all looking into the water.
Suddenly he jolts back up.
"Oh my god, that took forever!" Kie says annoyed.
"Any dead bodies?" Pope asks.
"No-no, I found a motel key," he says holding it up, as JJ pulls the anchor up.
"A key?" Pope says not impressed.
"Yes, a key Pope," John b says.
"We Salvaged a motel key," I say as John B gets back on the boat.
"Guys we should report it to the coast guard, maybe we'll get a finders fee," Kie says as we drive off.
