"your highness," your butler bowed down. you had finally retired from your daily duties, and so now you wanted to relax with things you felt more happy doing. "welcome back."
you nodded with a smile before rushing over to your gold silver dresser drawers and pulled out your fitting gear and attire. you had a real passion for fighting, despite everyone in the kingdom thinking that it was a bad idea for someone of royalty status like you to start swinging a sword everywhere.
but your mother and father were alright with your strange passion, unlike other princes and princesses where they would prefer to read, horseride, dance, and everything else normal royalty should do.
your butler came over to help you with your things since you had quite a handful. "come your highness, allow me."
you handed him a few things and he bowed down at you with a smile before he moved his long blue hair to the back. you gave him a stare, since he looked rather flashy this morning. it had only been two weeks since this new butler was assigned to you, but you had already fallen for his looks somewhat, accompanied by his charming personality.
you perked up and adjusted your robes. "where will my mentor be today?"
you always had a mentor ready for you whenever you wanted to learn some swordsmanship, and although they changed every single time, you didn't mind. your butler looked at you, one of his icy blue eyes gleaning under the chandelier in your chambers.
"the young man is from the kingdom of fontaine it would seem, though, he has yet to arrive," your butler said with a slight bow. "but your highness, do not forget the royal ball tonight, so we shan't return late, also, may i accompany you down out of the castle to search for the young man if you are eager?"
you nodded your head. everyone in the kingdom was waiting for this day of the royal ball. so many kingdoms would be invited over, and perhaps your parents would want you to pick someone to betroth. obviously, you didnt really like that idea.
in the kingdom, people knew a thing or two about you, but your most obvious trait was that you were really hellbound on only one thing in your entire life; fighting. whenever it came to swordsmanship, or sparring, you always wanted to be the one on top, despite what other kings and queens thought of you.
you were preparing yourself to be the bravest rulers when your parents retire, not just some random ruler who married for the sake of marrying.
"of course, the ball, how would i ever forget? but about you accompanying me... that would be nice, kaeya."

"woah there, do not draw your blade to an unarmed young lad, i mean no harm~"
the young-looking boy smiled mischievously up at kaeya, your butler. you were hidden behind him, with his long sword drawn to this boy's neck. he had pounced onto you out of the bushes, of course it caught you both off guard, and needless to say, kaeya got protective.
if anything were to happen to you...
the young boy looked harmless enough; the peasant clothes he had on displayed clearly that he was not quite as close to royalty as you would assume. then again, you used to sneak into the city in peasant clothes you hid under your pillows so you could pretend to be one of the people.
who knew, maybe this young boy was actually a king.
"state your business," kaeya stated. his voice was stern but also calm, not really wanting to scare this young boy either. he drew his blade away from his neck, but doesn't bring it too far unless be tried something.
the blonde boy stood up and smirked eagerly. he looked friendly but he seemed to be hiding something mischievous about him. he seemed fine overall but-
"nothing much sir, i am merely just passing by~"
"then why did you pounce? and more importantly, why were you hiding?" kaeya asked, a little worried about your safety. he was always worried, since he knew how utterly easily you got scared, but at this very moment, you weren't really.
there... just didn't seem to be anything that you needed to be scared of.
the young boy smiled. "is it wrong to say hello in that way? its normal in the kingdom i am from~"
"hmm," kaeya paused for a moment, taking in the rather odd gesture. he didn't really want to waste your time if this boy wasn't actually dangerous, so he decided to just let it go. "fair enough, safe travels."
the young boy nodded. "safe travels to you too," he then turned his head and his shiny soft eyes came in contact with yours, and instantly, it felt like something clicked. he smiled once again, this time brighter. "and of course, you too."

"your majesty," the young boy bowed. "may i have this dance?"
your eyes glimmered slightly as you saw the same young boy from before. he was dressed so differently now; soft clothes with beautiful linings and silk; there was everything that screamed royalty.
there was no time for conversations, so you just smiled at the young boy and placed your hand on his as you both immersed into the soft dance of the ballroom. his eyes were on yours, and you couldn't stop smiling at how utterly gorgeous he was tonight. he looked so wonderful, and he did his entire attire wonderfully, and everything he had on, had confirmed that he was from the kingdom of fontaine.
you spun around with him as he smiled at you, gently. he moved around with the music and so did you, and in the corner of your eye, you could see some girls whispering to each other about you. you didn't really care about that, as you just focused on dancing with this wonderful young boy. he was like a scarlet rose, so wonderful, so beautiful. you couldn't take your eyes off him...
"ah!"
"oh dear, my deepest deepest apologies i- i didn't know where i was looking i-" you apologised profusely for stepping on his shoe as he smiled at you sweetly.
he took your fingers and entangled them with his as he nodded his head. "its quite alright your majesty, here, hold my hand and follow my lead."
your eyes shone under the chandeliers as he led you throughout the entire dance that he presumably shouldn't have been able to know. this dance was only very much popular in your kingdom, so for someone like him who was from fontaine to know this dance was really such a shocker.
the other princes and princesses started to enter the middle of the ballroom, dancing with their partners as well. you and the young boy danced around, him hoisting you up by your waist and spinning you around as well as hugging your waist with his arm, and skipping the beats with you.
the music slowed to a stop, and you took a bow once the music had ended. you looked up and he shone his smile down at you as he bowed, took your hand, and brought it up to his lips to kiss.
"my name is lyney, your highness," he addressed. "would you accompany me out into the courtyard under the darkness?"
you giggled a little. during balls like these, the rules were you could never leave unless told by the king and queen if you weren't dancing. those were the rules by the kingdom, and you always snuck out, so you loved that lyney was also quite... like you.
he waited for the eyes to be off of you two, then grabbed your hand and started to blast through the crowds of people in dress and gowns. you giggled as he ran through a few tables and musicians and yelled out a big sorry before turning the corner out of the ballroom.
you two ran down the hallways and you laughed all the way towards the courtyard at the back of the castle. the hedges were the coverage for you two if people were to search. you two did it, you two snuck out.
"lyney," you called after laughing. "how are you so mischievous?"
he smiled at you as he grabbed your hand again and brought you over towards the swings and fountains. "i guess that is just how i am, your highness."
you giggled as he gestured for you to sit on the swing. you thanked him and sat down as he began to push you on the swing. the only sounds were the sounds of the swing, and the water from the fountain as well as the background chatter of people from the castle and horses arriving into the castle.
"how do you know the way around the castle anyway?" you asked after a while. "you could find the courtyard so quickly..."
lyney chuckled. "well your highness, i didn't sign up to be your mentor for no reason now did i?"
you picked up your head to look up at him. "y-you... you were the mentor?"
"why did you think your mentor had a mask today?" he laughed as he pushed you on the swing forwards. "yes your highness, i was your mentor today."
this meant that when you encountered lyney on the road this morning, it meant that he was just trying to head over to the kingdom. when you returned with kaeya, your mentor was already there, sword in hand.
you giggled and apologised. "i am terribly sorry for ever causing you any problems with training."
he laughed. "oh its no problem truly." he then stopped swinging you and went over to the front, gently staring down at you as you slowly got up. you two were about to say something until you heard the sounds of the guards coming your way.
you both exchanged looks. "well time to run," you giggled. "the guards are coming."
"before we do," he smiled and held up your face to kiss you on the lips. he took you by complete surprise as he pressed his soft lips on yours. you smiled into the kiss and kissed him back as he wrapped his arms around your small frame and lowered his hands until he could scoop you up into his arms.
you yelped. "l-lyney??"
"hush your highness, allow me~" he winked before he started to run down the courtyard, carrying you bridal style in his arms.
you laughed.
this was... a night you couldn't forget.
