"i hope you two enjoy your little time together before we kill you both anyway," the fatui harbinger spoke. her voice was heavy with danger and vile, and her gaze was as sharp as the sharpest knife.
xiao had came to your rescue not to long ago, but the fatuis were prepared for him. not even a moment too soon, they all ganged up on him, and since you couldn't fight; you were practically useless on the battlefield and they used you as hostage so xiao would stop killing off the fatuis. xiao had to stop fighting them, or the purple haired fatui boy; scaramouche, would have slit your throat.
they attacked xiao, and injured him very badly. you watched in horror as they knocked him to the ground with the hammer, and began to take you two all the way back to the fatui chambers in snezhnaya. they chained xiao up in the corner of the cold jail cell while they hung you from the ceiling with ropes bounded all over your body.
xiao was in a terrible shape, and his clothes were half torn and half mantled. you tried to struggle from your binds, but you couldn't. the ropes were digging into your skin with every harsh movement you made. the fatui lady stared at you for a second before she shifted her gaze towards xiao in the far end corner.
she smirked. "not so powerful now huh, yaksha."
xiao still had the slight energy to chuckle. he shifted a little so his back was leaning up against the wall as he glared straight towards the fatui lady. "you're pathetic too, having to chain me up like this with power draining chains so i won't kill all of you..."
the lady hissed at him and went for you. she grabbed your neck forcefully and started to choke you slightly. she dug her nails deep into the skin of your neck while you screamed in agony, and since the chains on xiao were draining his powers and energy and stamina, he couldn't move to save you even if he wanted to.
she then glanced over at xiao before she lifted a finger up. a few thin ice blades appeared above her finger and she slowly guided the thin blades towards your neck; gently grazing your soft skin. xiao cried out your name, but it was a weak one, and that prompted the lady to stab one of the thin blades into the side of your neck.
"AHH!"
you screamed loudly as she then yanked the blade out of the side of your neck, leaving a small wound where the blood slowly flowed down from. you breathed heavily as she then stepped away from you and raised her arms, and behind her, a few blades of ice and snow stood. she folded her arms as the blades taunted you; and she turned to look at xiao, who was now on the ground, trying his best to crawl towards you.
"please... please not her..."
the lady clicked her tongue and started to walk towards him, her heels clicking against the cold marble tiles of the big jail cell. she kneeled down in front of xiao and grabbed his face and yanked it upwards, staring down at him. "hmpf, look at you, so weak and pathetic."
he managed a laugh. "hahaha... haha.. better than you ever could, signora."
the lady, signora, hissed at him and sent her palm straight to his cheek. she slapped him hard and he landed onto his side with a very heavy grunt. you struggled on your binds as you cried, and signora brought her ice blades towards her and made them float right above xiao. she moved her fingers and in came a few sharp spear-like ice with sharp ends directly above xiao's back.
you knew what she was about to do. "no..."
signora turned to you and smirked before she sent her hand down, and about a few dozen sharp icicles and spear-like ice stabbed right into xiao's back. xiao screamed, and you yelled out his name as you struggled on the binds. signore folded her arms as she watched the blood pool from his back as the icicles and spears dissapear into the air. "not so tough now hm?"
he grunted as he gripped his own fists, trying to endure the pain like the yaksha he was meant to be. you struggled from where you were, trying your best to struggle free. you felt angry; and anger and fumes were all you felt. your body felt like it was on fire, you couldn't deal with the idea that xiao was being hurted, not like this.
xiao managed a small and gurgly chuckle before he spat out the blood from his mouth. "do... do whatever you want with me... i don't care..."
"hm? is that so?"
"but please not her..."
signora stayed silent.
"please just... don't harm her..."
signora then turned her head slightly to look at you, who was still sobbing quietly. she shook her head, wondering why he could actually want to protect someone so weak and incompetent. she turned her head back towards xiao and bent down in front of him to grab ahold of his neck and yanked him upwards so she could look at him better. "hm, seems like you have a bit of a soft spot for her, or have you actually fallen for her?"
xiao chuckled weakly. "thats... none of your business..."
she then threw xiao to the ground and got up before stomping her heel onto his wounded and bloody back. xiao screamed as he felt her heel digging into his wounded flesh, but he stopped after the pain became numb. signora shook her head and made her way towards you and sighed before examining your face. "inazuma calls this a warrior? i thought inazuma had better people than this."
you were too weak to even say anything to her, but the flames and anger radiating from your body allowed you the loudness from your battlefield of a mind to drown out her insults. she gave you one last look before she clicked her tongue and made her way out of the jail cell, finally leaving you and xiao alone.
once you two were alone in the cold dark cell, you turned your head towards xiao, who was meddling with his chains slightly on his side. "xiao! xiao are you okay...?"
xiao nodded his head in the corner. "hold on y/n... i'm coming to untie you, just- just let me get out of these chains first..."
you watched in silence as xiao forced himself to sit up as he managed to unclick his chains, and after one chain fell from his arm, the others fell from his neck and legs. he was finally free, but after that he collapsed onto the floor again, breathing heavily.
you wriggled a little. "xiao, are you alright? xiao..."
"ahaha.. ahaha... i guess i have a bit of strength left..." he chuckled very weakly as he then shifted his position so he was facing up towards you. he sighed and forced himself to his feet, but he was shaking, and his knees sort of buckled a little and he had to use the walls for support. "hold on y/n.. i- i'll get you off the ropes..."

you allowed him to rest his head on your lap while he breathed heavily, the blood from his back staining the marble tiles, and the blood from your neck dirtied your kimono, but you had already ripped off a few parts of your clothing to wrap it around his wounds, hoping that it would stop the bleeding.
you had just finished wrapping a sash from your kimono around his arm, and you tied the ends tightly so it wouldn't come off. you moved your hands to cup his cheeks as he smiled up at you, holding your hand and leaning into your touch. you bent your head over to cry onto his chest. "i'm so sorry... i'm so sorry xiao this is all my fault..."
"shhhh, don't say that dear.. its not..."
"if i hadn't stayed away from the village this wouldn't have happened..." you shivered, crying hard. you had finally gotten so close to xiao and once again, you were about to lose him. "i'm sorry xiao... please just don't say you'll die..."
xiao managed to push your head up and pull your face towards his to kiss you. you could taste the blood from his mouth and lips, but you didn't care; you just wanted him. you kissed him back as he tried to run his hand through your messy hair. he pulled away from you just to gasp for air as he was slightly running low on that.
he then stared up into your teary eyes with his own gentle yellow orbs. he smiled at you as he stroked your cheek. "the guy is supposed to say it right?"
"what..?"
"i love you y/n, i always have," he said, stroking your cheek with his thumb. you cried even more when he said that, holding onto his hand and bringing it to your lips to kiss the back of his hand. you nuzzled your forehead against the back of his hand as you sniffled.
"i love you too xiao..."
