"It's okay Nightmare. You don't have to say anything else. You can continue telling me that on a different day." Gabriel frowned worriedly. He thought for a moment before using his magic.
A few large tails formed around Nightmare. Each of the magic tails were very fluffy. One of them carefully picked Nightmare up while another two carefully supported his back.
They waved lifting him out of the chair, making him slide down the tail under him, moving him into the older monsters lap. The feline rubbed the young skeletons skull.
"Sorry that I'm not the best at comforting others. But I know that a hug can go a long way." Gabriel thought before giving a soft smile before carefully hugging Nightmare. Nightmare frowned as he held onto Gabriel. Curling up into himself.
"How about instead of telling me what they did, how about... you tell me the reason as to why your village treated you two so differently? I want to better understand as to why. So we can help you." He explained as he continued to rub the back of Nightmare's skull.
Nightmare opened his mouth for a second before closing it again. He frowned not knowing how to explain it. 'If it's been over a thousand years then doesn't that mean that the story of the tree is gone?.. It must be especially if they've gone through a war plus those idiots destroyed the tree.'
He thought for a moment before grabbing the paper he previously drew on. He kept quiet and doodled. Gabriel patiently waited. Allowing Nightmare to take as much time as he needed. Nightmare looked up at Gabriel and showed him, his drawing.
Gabriel tilted his head before looking at the picture over. The picture was a doodle of a tree that appeared to be growing two different apples. Wrapped around the trunk of the tree was some fabric with a sun on it.
The cat monster blinked as he noticed that the sun symbol reminded him of the fabric that Nightmare was wrapped in. 'Guess that fabric they were wrapped in belonged to that tree... was that tree their home?'
"That tree has well um... had our mothers soul sealed away inside of it... she used go protect the tree until me and Dream took over when we were young... the villagers killed her. They cut the tree down because of their greed and selfishness." Nightmare frowned. Shaking as he thought about what happened before curling in on himself even more.
"Mom would move the branches so only me and Dream could collect them. She moved the branches up higher as they tried to steal the apples... we would guard those apples but Dream always went off to play so I'd be there on my own." He frowned his voice turning quiet for a moment.
"Can you tell me what was so special about those apples?" Gabriel watched Nightmare. Frowning in confusion as he didn't see the appeal in the apples.
"Oh um... the tree grew two different apples. Golden apples of positivity and black goo like apples of negativity. The golden apples when eaten, fill whoever eats it with pure positive energy. Making them feel all the positive emotions. They also helped with health. Like helping the elders feel better if they got sick... my brother guarded those apples and positive energy. Everyone loved Dream because of it," He then went quiet for a moment before continuing.
"I guarded the black ones. They were filled with so much negativity... sorrow. Pain... whatever negative emotion that's what they were filled with. No one liked me because of the fact that I guard the negative energy.... and now you're all going to hate me."
