Bloody!!

Stains of blood on clothes that day

A commotion of melancholy started to play

Troubled stomach and stabbing pain

Celebrations to be held
Grandma raised the toast so be it
"You are a woman." she declared

Mother took me to a corner to help me in vain
"You have to bear it, this is for the sake of future."

"Don't touch here not there"
"You have dirty blood, stay alone." another called out.
Nor did I move nor I stayed
but bewildered by nonsense

I was silent wishing to cut off those oviducts
People gathered whispers discomfit
Men came after another
To just take me to their home
And I had to serve tea to please the men to take me home.
My imaginations grew wild and sore

"She's a woman now, she should be married."
Proclaimed my grandma
"Yes, yes agreed the aunties."

No, no I can't I cried in deep.
"No celebrations, no more rituals.
She's my daughter and not a prisoner."
That strongest voice echoed with dangling bangles
And she pulled me out of the scenario

A voice that was the fuel to the ambitions of mine
A flow of blood can be the flow new life
Not a stopper of life..

Writer's note: It's not a personal experience but. But something that had touched me.
There is very fatal superstition and ill practises regarding periods. I might be looked down for writing this but this is my choice.

I have heard the worst that I was about to puke sometimes.

"All the characters are fictional."
